Wasn't there more myths that Zephyrus isn't involved with the death of Hyacinthus than there was where he was?

Yes, and once you actually line things up, the “Zephyrus = jealous murderer” take starts looking… extremely overstated

So far Ive managed to scrape together:

at least 2–3 surviving sources where Zephyrus is not mentioned at all

1–2 sources where a wind exists but Zephyrus specifically does not

1-ish indirect reference (something about a more aggressive wind that people associated more with boreas)

1 clear, explicit source Zephyrus as a jealous lover, the Famous One™, by Ovid (+ maybe 1–2 later retellings copying it)

But of course, Ovid is Roman, writing centuries later, and loves moralized jealousy narratives. He’s hugely influential on modern retellings, which is why this version dominates fandom

Personally I would kinda prefer the version where Apollo is just bad at discus or something and kills Hyacinthus on accident for multiple reasons, just sounds more interesting but that might just be me ¯\_(T-T)_/¯

Like what do you mean "yandere"?? Isn't he literally described as the kindest and most gentle of the four winds?

Apollo has done many horrible things and he's still a fan favorite but Zephyrus kills one guy and now he's just nothing else?? And it's only like one version of the myths too
