Bartolozzi & Maioli: Wooden and Gold Leaf Chair (c. 1970s) This carved chair was manufactured by the Florentine woodworking firm Bottega d'Arte Bartolozzi & Maioli, between 1970 and 1979. The atelier was known for high-profile commissions, including work on the Montecassino Abbey and the Quirinale Palace in Rome. This design represents a successful, experimental departure into a figurative, whimsical, almost fairytale-like aesthetic, marking a revival of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau principles. The structure is carved from Beech wood and finished with paint and gold leaf accents. The backrest is composed of three overlapping, figurative leaves. The model is consistently present in private collections and frequently appears in international design auctions. Dimensions: 104 cm H x 44 cm W x 58 cm D.
