Because it’s cold during winter so you can make a fire outside and have some s’mores. Or just use your fire place.
No, s’mores are for the summertime.
No need to, but thank you. It’s only me, remember?
What do you mean it’s only you?
One side of my mind tells me that it’s winter but every memory I have of making s’mores was during the summer or spring time. It’s confusing.
Why would you make s’mores in the winter?
Because we’re both here now. Nothing matters now.
That’s what I was hoping.
I forgot which season is the best season to make s’mores but I’m gonna make them tonight anyways. Whoever convinces me not to will not get a s’more.
Pretty sure that season is Summer, so I think you’ve timed it perfectly.

The girl was silent in her booth after speaking, and she inspected his face for any sort of emotions. She already knew what he was feeling before she’d even looked, and when she saw the sadness reflected in his eyes, Evelyn found that she couldn’t look at him any longer out of shame. Instead, she focused her attention on the top of the table, her hands clasped together tightly. Only when he began speaking again did she raise her head. It was as if he was spitting fire at her; she cringed like a child against his scolding, but she forced her gaze to remain locked on his. He didn’t sound as angry as he did scared, and that made Evelyn more upset than anything. She moved her body over towards the inside of the booth when Anthony switched to her side, pulling his denim jacket tighter around herself before being pulled into his arms. Evelyn breathed in the comforting scent of his cologne and closed her eyes for a few moments in his embrace. She’d missed his hugs, the contentment he always made her feel.. The blonde missed all of him, and if they weren’t caught in the situation they were in, she’d tell him, but unfortunately, that conventioneer would have to wait for another time.
Evelyn listened to his speech, digging her nails into her palm as she fought back a few tears that threatened to fall. The reason why she hadn’t gone to anyone about her money problem was not only the fear of getting her children taken away because she could barely afford them, but if there was one thing she hated, it was being handed something without working at it first. Evelyn knew she wouldn’t take any money he’d give her without doing something for him in return. Instead of bringing it up, she kept the thought to herself, deciding it wasn’t the time. She hadn’t really considered all of the negative things that could go wrong if she’d gotten into the man’s car; she was just worried about providing for the twins. Being told about all the consequences she’d failed to recognize really made her think about what almost happened. When he stared into her eyes and took one of her hands in his, Evelyn froze for a few seconds before nodding her head slowly. “I-I didn’t mean to scare you.. I promise I won’t try it again. This is the last time it’ll happen. And.. Thank you for always watching out for me.” For the first time that night, she was glad Anthony was there to stop her from doing wrong. The only opposing thought nagging in the back of her mind was why he was walking through a troubled neighborhood this time at night. Evelyn had suspected he’d gotten back to his old, dangerous habits after leaving the mansion, and the bag of white powder in his denim jacket just confirmed it. Raising her free hand, she cupped his face and trailed her thumb against his cheek while her other stayed securely wrapped in his. Her eyes darted quickly to the people around them, and seeing that the stares had died down, she turned her attention back to him and lowered her voice before speaking. “Please be careful with the drugs, Tony. Don’t dig yourself too big of a hole you can’t get out of. I love you, and I want you to be okay and happy..”
Hearing her confirm that she wouldn’t do it again caused Anthony to relax a bit more than he was. He couldn’t stand the thought of losing his best friend, and the thought that he almost had tonight kept the boy on edge. Evelyn meant more to him than anyone had in his whole life, and he finally began to wonder why. Anthony really looked at her, and took her in for everything she was. She was one of the very few people in the world who actually understood him, for what he was. He was a drug abuser, who had the biggest heart in the world, and nobody seemed to understand that; except Evelyn. The still sick to his stomach blonde, found himself smiling at the thought of them. They worked so well together that it was almost unbelievable, and unexpected. Anthony had forgotten about just how much he needed her to be a part of his life. Tonight especially made him realize that he couldn’t lose her. She meant the world to him and he’d be damned if he let her leave his life so easy again. Of course the first time was his fault, but he didn’t know how to deal with all the feelings he suddenly felt, so he left. Now that they’re both here again, he’s not letting either of them walk away.
The feeling of her hand on the side of his face caused Anthony to be snapped out of his thoughts, as he turned towards her and locked their eyes together. His breath hitched in the back of his throat as he listened to what she said. He knew, of course, that she knew the drugs where in his pockets. There was no hiding it, but he just wished she hadn’t found them at all. He didn’t want anyone, not even Evelyn, to find out that he had ended up just as bad as the first time they arrived. Once he left, he started all his old habits: heroine, weed, alcohol and even the harm he brought on himself. It all came back, and might even be worse than the first time. He couldn’t let her know, though, that he’d been worse so he just gave her a slight smile. A smile that showed sadness, but it was a smile nevertheless. Reaching up, he placed his free hand on top of hers without a word. A few seconds of silence passed before he found the courage to answer her at all, “I’m okay..” It had been a lie, but at least it was a lie that wouldn’t make her worry, or so he hoped.

Evelyn was getting impatient and feeling more and more like she’d made a mistake as the man took his sweet time gazing her over. Leaning back against the seat, he finally let a smirk appear on his face. “One hundred dollars, sweetheart; one fifty if you do a good job,” was his reply, and the blonde almost gasped. Although she promised herself coming out here that she wouldn’t make this a habit, the pay was almost unbelievable; all she had to do was have sex with him, and she’d be paid one hundred fifty dollars. If she did this enough times, she’d be able to pay the bills of her house before she knew it. It’d be her little secret, and after she was set, she could quit and forget it ever happened. The smile on her face became more genuine than before, and she was just about to open the car door to take a seat when she felt someone grab her from behind.
If it had been any other time, Evelyn wouldn’t be too worried about who’d grabbed her; of course, she’d still freak out a bit, but not if it was in broad daylight with her properly dressed. Instead, only a few articles of clothing covered her body, and the only person in sight right now seemed to be the horny man who wanted to pay her for sex. The blonde would’ve let out a scream when her body lifted off the ground if she hadn’t seen the figure’s face in the corner of her when she tried to whirl her head around. At first, she didn’t believe it was him, but after being set down only a of being grabbed, she had the chance to look at the person who’d touched her and realized it was him; Anthony. Evelyn’s blood ran cold, and she froze solid in her spot. She didn’t have the possibility of saying anything to defend herself - not that’d she be able to anyway - as he was concentrated on the man who almost took her home, but even if she could, Evelyn knew no words would leave her lips. The sick feeling in her stomach only grew as he listened to his hard voice speaking to the stranger, who looked rather pissed Anthony had stepped in. Evelyn thought he would say something to her best friend that’d start something she wanted to avoid, but as soon as Anthony stepped back and took her hand, he pulled back out onto the street with a squeal of the tires. It was then that Evelyn realized just how much potential money she’d lost. Her face heated up from anger rather than embarrassment, and she almost snapped at him when he dropped her hand if he hadn’t offered his jacket to her. Her narrowed eyes relaxed, and she let out a soft breath she didn’t know she’d been holding. Tony cared for her; he only did it because he cared. Even after over six months of no interaction, he only wanted to protect her, and although Evelyn was still furious, she kept her mouth shut and followed close behind.
A few moments later, Anthony stopped dead in front of her, and she almost bumped into him. Her face tilted upwards to scan his expression as he suddenly whirled to stare down at her. The look in his eye was something she’d never seen from him before, and although she couldn’t recognize the emotion, it still sent a shiver of regret along her spine. She found she couldn’t hold his gaze longer than a second, and she let her head fall, wrapping her arms around herself with her eyes on the ground. In those few seconds, Evelyn wished more than anything that she hadn’t almost done what she did; it was stupid - she was stupid - but seeing how it made Anthony act made it worse. She didn’t realize she was holding her breath until he finally turned back around and started moving again. The girl drew out a long sigh and quickly began pursuing him. Her hands fell into the pockets of Tony’s denim jacket, and her fingers immediately felt the familiar feeling of plastic. Her curiosity took over, and after making sure the man wasn’t paying attention, Evelyn pulled only a sliver of the contents out. She made out the white, powdery substance even in such a poorly lit area, and her eyes widened in shock. That’s why he was out here so late and found her on the street corner; he was buying drugs, from his old dealer, no doubt. Instead of calling him out for it, Evelyn, her body trembling, stuffed the bag back in his pocket and focused on not tripping in her tall heels.
It didn’t take long for the girl to figure out where they were going; they’d passed this area plenty of times in the early hours of the morning, except instead of feeling dreadful, they’d be laughing and joking and skipping like children down the concrete paths with their fingers intertwined and worries thrown to the wind. The wave of nostalgia hit her so hard, she almost turned around, kicked her heels off, and ran. If it weren’t for the situation, she would’ve done it without a second thought, but her desire to stay with Anthony and explain herself was too great. So, she tried to push back the memories swirling her mind as the man took her hand and led her to a booth in the back. A few people stared, but if the blonde noticed, she didn’t show it as she settled down in the seat and wrapped the jacket further around herself, even taking the time to fumble with the buttons nervously as she thought of how to start. Her bottom lip was between her teeth as her eyes flickered to him. He was staring, as if waiting for her to say something. It took her a few more moments to summon up enough courage to even hold his gaze for longer than a few seconds, and she sucked in a soft breath as she folded her shaking arms on the table. Another couple moments later, Evelyn finally remembered how to speak. “T-Tony, I..” She trailed off, not sure of exactly what to say. “I-I’m so sorry you saw me like this..” Her voice was trembling and kept trailing off. Frustrated with herself, she leaned back against the seat of the booth and ran a hand through her curly hair. “This.. It was just a one-time thing. I-I thought no one would catch me in a place where there are no cameras. I thought I could just get this over with and go home with my hundred bucks, finish paying for my bills for my apartment before they take it away, and erase the damn memory from my mind. I know it’s not a good enough excuse, but I’m desperate and broke and-” Evelyn noticed she was rambling and stopped for a second, her gaze flashing to meet his. “Y-You know I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t have to, Tony; I needed this money. I fucking need it.”
Anthony didn’t look at her and it took everything he had in him not to. He wasn’t angry. How could he be? What he was doing wasn’t any better. He was buying drugs off the side of the street. Suddenly remembering the drugs that had been placed in his pocket, Anthony let his gaze fall to the pocket of his jacket. Nervously straightening his posture, his eyes stayed glued to the pocket. He knew that she probably already noticed it, she’s had her hands in the pockets the entire time. Plus, what’s the big deal? She already knew he did them. Relaxing slightly, Anthony finally glanced at her face and he regretted it. The way she desperately tried to find the right words, the way she apologized in a million words. Looking away, he pretended to focus on the menu that sat in front of him. He couldn’t eat, he was sick at his stomach. Seeing what he saw made him feel like his world was crumbling down around him. Hearing her plead for money was what finally got his gaze to finally fall back on her. If money was what she needed, he could help. Raising his hands, Anthony rubbed his face, as if to clear his head to focus better.
He wasn’t sure if yelling at her was the best way to go about this, but he couldn’t stop himself. Everything came rushing out before he could begin to stop it. “Do you realize what could have fucking happened to you? Screw the goddamn money, Evelyn. If that’s what you needed you should’ve just asked for some fucking help, not sell yourself on a damn street corner..” Taking a breath, Anthony got himself to calm down before he continued. Switching to the same side of the booth as Evelyn, Anthony wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. “Ev, this isn’t the right way to go about this. If I hadn’t been there, god only knows what the fuck would’ve happened. Yeah, he said it’s just sex and then he’ll pay you, but sometimes people bluff. He could’ve fucking killed you after he got what he wanted, do you not realize that? What if you changed your mind before you started? Do you think that would’ve stopped him? Because it wouldn’t, he would’ve taken advantage of you. Seeing..Seeing you that way, scared the fucking shit out of me. I thought about all the shit that he would’ve done to you, and..And I can’t handle it. You were out there trying to support your family, but you had a better chance of never coming home..” Grabbing her hand and squeezing it tightly, Anthony finally met her gaze for the first time that night. “I can’t lose you, Ev. If you need money, I can help. I’ll help, but please..Please, never do this again.”
Whenever you want.
Okay, then.
Desperate Measures → Ant&Ev
As Evelyn strut down the sidewalk in heels she could barely balance in, she kept her face, which stayed emotionless, turned forward and eyes staring straight ahead as the catcalls rolled in. It wasn’t like she wasn’t expecting it - the clothes she wore, a very short, black mini-skirt and a white tube top along with the very tall, white heels, raised a signal for men to take interest in her - but she’d forgotten how uncomfortable she was about it. The town her home resided in was quite small, so whistling at girls outside car windows wasn’t too common. There was always the occasional asshole, but all in all, Evelyn hadn’t been called at this much in a long time. However, every time a man made a comment towards her, she reminded herself of why she was doing this in the first place; it was for her kids. It would always be for her twins. No matter how many times she had to do this in order to get the money in time to pay for the bills, she’d do it without a peep of complaint or pleading for help. The fear of getting her children taken away from her care was too grand, and the girl would rather work a street corner every night than face the chance of her nightmare coming true.
Blinking a few times to clear her thoughts, Evelyn, stopped at a corner where a gas station resided right behind her. Having even a small place close by in case she needed help was slightly comforting to the blonde, and she needed all the comfort she could get. For the next few minutes, Evelyn spent time stepping along the side of the street, faking a giggle at every remark thrown her way and smirking proactively at men who slowed their cars down to take a look. After a while, the uncomfortable feeling replaced itself with frustration. She needed to get this done and over with before the cameras managed to find her. The last thing she needed posted all over MTV was a clip of her acting as a prostitute.
Half an hour later, Evelyn was close to moving to a spot further down the road when a car caught her eye. It looked rather expensive, and it began slowing down until it came to a stop a few feet in front of her. The passenger side window rolled down, and a man’s face was staring at her with a wide grin plastered on his face. Evelyn had only a second to breathe before he called out to her, “You lookin’ to please a man for some cash, baby girl?” With all her willpower, Evelyn let a wicked smile grace her face as she started towards the car, her hips swaying provocatively. “Depends on just how much cash we’re talking here,” was her reply, leaning against the open window and breathing in a whiff of cigarette smoke. She ignored the sick feeling in the pit of her stomach, instead focusing on the man as he glanced what he could see of her over, as if pricing her. All Evelyn hoped was that she was worth enough for her to never do this again.
Sick and tired of having a camera shoved in his face every single time he turn a corner in this house, Anthony decided to sneak out. After climbing out of the window in his room after telling everyone he was going to sleep and not to bother him, he made his way down the dimly lit street. He knew exactly where he was going, too, it was the one place Anthony remembered how to get to without a single problem. As he walked he checked over his shoulder every so often, just to make sure the cameras haven’t followed him out. The summer air had a bit of a breeze, so as he walked, he tightened his denim jacket around himself. He didn’t like the fact that he was out here again, but it was a good escape from everyone else he was forced to be around again, and he really needed a restock on his stuff. As soon as he turned the corner to the downtown strip, Anthony suddenly remembered why he swore he’d never come back down here: His brother and Evelyn. Pushing his thoughts to the back of his head, he straightened up his posture, and kept walking to the spot he was supposed to meet an old friend.
Anthony stood in a dark corner of the street, waiting desperately on the familiar man to meet him. Any normal guy would’ve walked away by now, considering he’d been waiting for almost an hour, but Anthony refused to leave. He’d wait all night if he had to, he just needed his stuff. He’d been out of it for over a week, and he thought he could quit cold turkey like he had before, but it just wasn’t happening. Not when he was back in this house, at least. What kind of sick person bribes everyone to come back just because they’re losing money? The producers know good and well none of us want to be here, so what are they expecting? An interesting show? Because I doubt they get one. But then again, why would everyone accept the bribe if they hated it so much? Anthony was taken out of his thoughts when he saw rugged looking man walk his way, “Ant, it’s good to see ya again. I’ve missed my favorite customer.” Smiling just a bit, Anthony nodded back in his direction, “Good to see you again, too. So, do you..Do you have my stuff?” He watched as the man just nodded, and slipped a plastic bag in his hand. Once tucking it away safely in his pocket, Anthony began handing him the cash, but something caught his attention. That voice, he knew it from somewhere. “Ev..?” Glancing over his shoulder, Anthony could feel his face heat up from the anger rising in his body. “Fucking..” Turning back to the man still waiting on his cash, Anthony tossed it at him and said his last “thanks”, before taking off down the road.
Running full pace down the street as he pushed and elbowed whoever stood between him and Evelyn, Anthony still couldn’t believe this was actually happening. Once he became closer, he slowed down and started to walk directly towards the girl he could barely recognize. He stopped a little bit away, and took a deep breath before continuing towards the sight that only made him want to run. Stopping directly behind her, he placed his hands on her hips and without a problem lifted her. Placing her back down to the side of him, Anthony looked at her for a second before focusing back on the male in the car. Leaning on the edge of the open window with his arms folded, Anthony looked directly at the man sitting there. “Let’s see, you have thirty seconds to keep driving before things end badly for you. And let me just say, you are so lucky you’re on the other side of the fucking car or you would’ve already stopped breathing.” Standing back up, Anthony grabbed Evelyn by the hand and yanked her in the other direction. “Let’s go.” Keeping his grip tight on her, Anthony couldn’t even explain what he was feeling right now. As they walked down the street all Anthony could focus on where the catcalls and whistles coming in their direction. Letting go of her hand for a few moments, he slipped off his jackets and tossed it at her. “All the hollering obviously isn’t for me, so fucking put this on.”
Anthony kept walking at a fast pace, until they were around the corner. Stopping suddenly, he turned to face her to yell to cry to do anything, but every time he tried to make words come out of his mouth; nothing would. Pursing his lips together in frustrating, Anthony turned back around and kept walking. He didn’t hold her hand, he didn’t look back at her - he just kept walking. So many thoughts were rushing through his head, and yeah he was angry, but the one thing that upsets him more than anything was the fact she could’ve gotten hurt. Stopping after taking the few steps away from her, Anthony didn’t turn around he stayed with his back to her and mumbled, “Come on.” He wasn’t ready to go home, but he wasn’t going to leave her out her by herself- not dressed like that, anyway. Where he wanted to go was only minutes away and Anthony knew they both loved it there, and it was also dimly lit; something Anthony appreciated right now. After the silent walk, Anthony looked behind him thankful to see she had followed and then continued to open the door and motioned for her to walk inside. When walked inside it was like all memories slapped him in his face, this is where they would come when they just wanted to get away. Just the two of them. Anthony grabbed Evelyn’s hand once more when he noticed how many people were actually in there. Walking to an empty booth in the back, Anthony waited for Evelyn to sit before he had done so. A few moments of dead silence and still no one had said a word, and quite frankly, Anthony didn’t have a problem with it; even though he had been frantically wondering just what the fuck she had been thinking.
I did bring them with me; actually, they’re both taking their naps as we speak. Do you.. Do you want to see them sometime soon?
Can I?
Doesn’t matter now does it?
I hope you mean that it doesn’t mater because we’re both here now and not that it just doesn’t matter.
I’m a bit rusty; it’s been way too long.. I’ve missed you, Tony. They’ve also kept me super busy; they learned how to crawl not too long ago, and since then, they’ve managed to get into everything.
And i’ve missed you, Evie. D-Did you bring them back with you?
I always say that things are okay, it’s my niche. Just don’t worry, alright?
I know you do, that’s what makes me worry. But fine, I’ll try.
Okay, be honestly at least. You see some bad memories, but also good ones. That’s a lot more realistic here.
Well sure, but I look at everyone and see bad memories. Nobody has all good memories, so i guess what I mean is, when I look at you I don’t regret ever becoming close to you. Or I don’t dread being around you, like I do some people.
I’m glad you came after all. I know I’ve been locked away and stuff. I’m sorry I should have called sooner.
I am, too. Hey, don’t worry about it. Phones work both ways, I had the chance to call too, but I didn’t. It’s just as equally my fault.
