Y’all looking for a really good movie with John Boyega?
I believe his first movie and a personal favorite of mine. Aliens crash land in South London and a local street gang have to defend themselves and the neighborhood. Could have easily been a cheap B movie, but the characters are compelling, the effects are fantastic for the small budget, and there are strong themes just under the surface throughout. It’s also a great balance of humor and horror. This is the movie that made Boyega one of my favorite actors, so I highly recommend this film to fans of his and sci-fi fans in general looking for something a little different.

Half of all 2020 reylo nonsense can be summed up as “it’s sexist to call me racist”
I wanna say I can’t believe someone wrote a medium article on why reylos are oppressed, but I absolutely can- I’m just surprised it’s happening in fucking 2020 and not in 2016 during peak reylo nonsense
And it’s not just the obvious racist stuff (which there is huge amounts of if the author of the medium article had bothered to look)there’s a lot of subtle anti-blackness in the metas/headcanons/interpretations that the r*ylos post. It is exhausting being a woc in this fandom. And that author is just so typical of white r*ylos who just do not want to see their racism but love shouting about sexism.

White feminists are weaponizing themselves to demonize John Boyega. And trying to make this just about women being attacked over shipping. As if some Reylos haven’t outright been racists towards John Boyega. This is the same tactic that has been used for centuries in white women willing demonizing the black man and making him as awful as they possibly can make him to look.
While they ignore and disregard any discussions that has to do with fandom racism. And want their feelings to be valued and taken seriously. But refuse to take others seriously if the discussion is about fandom racism, they will accuse you of looking for “woke points.”
Only they are allowed to be “woke” and serious, when it comes to the feelings of playing victim and pretending to be oppressed for shipping Reylo.

I think the thing I hate most about Reylo being canon is that little girls saw it. Now they think that no matter what a man does to them as long as he is sorry it’s ok.

i cannot believe star wars took an strong, optimistic, and full-of-potential young woman of a protagonist and reduced her to a coddling, emotional-supporting-role for a man who did horrible things and be nothing but abusive and manipulative towards her and her friends and never faced any actual consequences for his actions.
