Most of us will never know the agony of being a parent that does everything to provide for their child, only to keep coming up empty. Of the immense suffering and self-loathing that comes with being responsible for this little life, and feeling like you're failing: to keep them safe, warm, sheltered, fed. Of holding your child, your toddler, your newborn, watching them slowly waste away from that relentless, gnawing hunger you can't stop (one that you feel yourself). Watching as they howl in pain, and the hollowness that comes when your child becomes too weak even to do that. All the while being totally helpless to stop it because it's not up to you.
Most of us will only see the aftermath of such a thing: a parent carrying the far-too-light shroud of their child, pictured under a headline that details how starvation has taken hold of some given population. Distant and removed from us.
Except that it isn't. There are so many desperate parents who've run out of options, for whom this isn't some abstraction, who are asking—begging—us for our help. Just so they'll be able to buy some of the shit canned food left from the last aid delivery, and a couple loaves of bread to feed their children with. Extortionately pricey because of scarcity, but it's enough to keep their children in a state of "acute malnutrition" rather than "catastrophic hunger", so they'll pay anything for it.
Attacks on NGOs & prevention of aid into Gaza puts every single person there at risk of a slow death due to starvation. Especially children, like Samah's newborn baby boy, her little 2 year-old girl, and their big sister (who's only 9). But we can help. What's pocket money for us, is an invaluable lifeline to parents like Samah. At a time when so many seem to have decided to live in an alternate universe in which deliberate starvation and mass slaughter of civilians is acceptable, we have to do what we can to oppose it. Not to push it away, to ignore it, to decide it's been going on so long we don't care or that it's hopeless so give up, but to grit our teeth, dig our heels in, and say "no, seriously, what the fuck are we doing here?"

padme really had such a bogus life, ik she often gets cast as the "normal one" in the PT trio by the proxy of being closer to the "boss" than the "failure" end of the girl spectrum but thats blatanly unfair to the absolute Situations she gets into out of her own free will. like to summarise, she was born to a normal family, decided to start planning on becoming the queen of an entire planet around the time when most kids are acting out dystopian daydreams with president barbie, actually did it by the time she was 14, acquired a group of lookalikes who would be her closest friends & lifelong companions by the proxy of yk. being there to sacrifice themselves in her place at any moment, any time, from the ripe old young of teenage girl, carefully designed the queen amidala to be a seperate, artificial persona they can all put on, down to learning how to breathe a certain way, but then also went on to live with that persona for the rest of her life, finished her terms as the queen and still didnt have enough, went to the senate, almost got assassinated like a hundred time bc apparently she irritated everyone so much, lost a bunch of friends & handmaidens during that time period, mourned them with dignity and restraint but very notably knowingly married an Absolute Specimen whose reaction to loss is to go on a murder spree (also notable: he was, in fact, a career hazard due to being banned from marriage & padme notably gave up life outside of her career at age 14), actually successfully foiled one of palpatines plans, almost got assassinated some more bc something abt padme amidala brings out the homicidal tendencies in people, got pregnant & somehow through pure willpower and dedication to being a public servant kept that a secret, helped set the groundwork for the rebellion, saw her life's work come to ruin via the guy she helped put into power, assessed her life burning around her and rushed to confront her murder husband & then tried to kindly negotiate that he maybe stop reacting to possible loss via murder sprees and instead considers becoming a family man and finally finished that whole sandwich of events by giving birth and then immediately dying of depression, a final bow so bizarre that fans have been making theories abt what actually killed her for the past 2 decades
You ever think about how Ahsoka is misdirecting their understanding of what she's saying, it's a lie by omission, but it's also the truth in a very real way?
Right now, she has to pretty sure she knows that Vader is Anakin, she certainly suspects it, the way she pauses tells entire volumes about what's going through her mind, but... she doesn't know who he has become, who this person is anymore, if he's capable of that kind of rage, hate, and fear that she felt, if he's capable of becoming a Sith Lord, if he's capable of all the monstrous things she has to know Vader has done, if he's all of those things, can he really be the man she knew?
Ahsoka is in denial at this point, she's still trying to deny that she knows it's true, and so she's framing it in the most honest terms she can in this moment, the most honest she can be--she doesn't know who that is. That even if she knows it's Anakin Skywalker, that's not someone she can say she at all recognizes from the Master and friend she once knew.
IF THAT'S ANAKIN, IN THIS MOMENT, NO, SHE CAN'T SAY SHE KNOWS WHO HE IS. All she knows is that they have his attention now and he will be coming for them.
