''i just needed a moment to think. jeez.'' charlie let out a sigh and shook her head. ''i'll start with a gin and tonic please. then an old fashioned.'' she pulled out her wallet that had her identification on the bar. ''i can see you're busy so there's no rush.''
" well darlin', if the bar wasn't packed shoulder to shoulder right now, I would gladly let you have all the time in the world … but here we are, " gesturing toward the crowd practically piled into one another around the bar, though the faint smirk tugging at her glossed lips softens the bite behind her words. cerulean hues flicker briefly over the ID resting on the counter before settling back on the other woman. " so, gin and tonic first, old fashioned after. see ? we’re already makin' progress. " the sound of ice clinking against glass fills the space between them as practiced hands move quickly, pouring and mixing without missing a beat. once she was finished, she placed the drink in front of the other, but not without sliding a very colorful straw in. " let me know how that is when I get back, " she tosses over her shoulder before disappearing down to the opposite end of the bar, where a rowdy group was waiting for their shots.
charlie couldn't quite make out yet if she was being sarcastic at first until she walked away to the other side of the bar. was she flirting? most likely not so instead charlie just smirked with a shrug of her shoulder. she drank some of her gin and tonic, realizing she was on her own as a clearly drunk man came up to stand near her. he was trying to hit on her and she was not interested at all. she was guarded for a reason and this man was not helping how she felt. she just took deep breaths as she waited for the bartender to return.
