ALONE BUT NEVER APART 👾

The COVID-19 pandemic that we are facing right now took us by surprise. Our lives outside our houses got taken away from us in a blink of an eye. Despite the current happenings, thank your for technology because at least we can connect to our people and somehow helped us regain what we usually do outside of our houses.

I consider myself as an introverted person but the presence of people around me especially my friends keep me sane. Facing this pandemic, to be very honest, I was worried wether I can still keep my composure and sane mind when communicating and socializing . Fortunately, technology got my back and it created a path for me to connect and have fun with my loved ones. Access to information is very easy with the assistance of portable devices and of course the vast contents of the internet. With the help of the internet, classes are still made possible. Though adjustments to the new normal occurs, advanced technology is here to govern us in everything we do.

The pandemic is definitely not a blessing in disguise but it helped us realize the true values, use, and capabilities of technology. Communication may not be as clear as what we do when in a face-to-face setting that is why we need to know the proper way of communicating through media to avoid misunderstandings. In my opinion, this pandemic exposed the government of its incompetence. News about it are circulating in different media platforms and even fake news. Being literate in media and information, we will be able to decipher and absorb credible, valuable, and authentic information; at least that’s what I do during this pandemic.

In conclusion, with the help of technology and being literate to it, we would be able to connect anywhere around the world especially with our loved ones having fun while sharing legitimate information.

Communication is the exchange of messages and information across two or more persons towards understanding. It can be done through verbal or non verbal such as interpreting signals, sign languages, expressions, and behavior. Through the practice of communication, we were able to progress and develop. Communication is considered a process because it follows a path that allows the message to be encoded then decoded. A simple communication usually starts with a speaker and a receiver. Withoout communication being a process, the world would be so chaotic because of misunderstandings.

Because of the social development that we attained through communication, access to various information through media became easier. The positive influence of media and information to communication are convenience, connection to people all over the globe, and the engagement in cultural and political debates have surfaced. Media and information has allowed us to extablish a stronger relationship towards people living far away from us. In addition, the exposure of the gen z to various cultural and political debates will allow them to know better and do good in the future.

Despite those positive influences, media and information also has a negative effect in communication. The main bad effect of media is the circulation of fake news. It covers the truth thus prohibits us in doing good and communicate with full conviction. In addition, as media provides convenience in communication; it is also abused by many. Unmindfulness in posting and sharing irrelevent sensitive content hinders media users's protection and right.

The advent of media and information literacy help us to become closer to God, our family, and the nation. Social Media is a powerful tool for communication. Being Media and Information Literate will allow us to be good examples and influence to a lot of people worldwide. The proper utilization of media will help us in sharing credible information that can help a lot of people. Being critical thinkers online will limit or even eradicate fake news and fraudulent persons and, stop it and them from causing harm to the environment. This shows respect, love, and concern for the nation. In addition, not only political or scientific information are shown online but also topics about religion can also be accessed. Molding a healthy platform through media will influence our friends and family; and like a domino effect, the good example that you showed will slowly reflect and affects other. God made us in his likeness and he wants us to be good persons who are agents of social and spiritual improvement. Expanding our scope through media, we would be able to affect the nation and will bring us closer to God since we are doing what is best for his creations.

Do you know the 2 types of multimedia? The 2 types of multimedia are STATIC and DYNAMIC 👾

In simple terms, STATIC media doesn’t provide interactivity. On the other hand, DYNAMIC media offers interactivity.

As an example, here are my 4 most used multimedia — 2 each type of multimedia.

Static Media

• Videos - Videos are a very important source of information for me. These help me enhance my talents and also guide me in solving math problems. • School Books - My old and news books guide me in my daily activities. My old physics book helped me in remembering basic physics concepts which then helped me answer physics questions in my current physics book.

Dynamic Media

• Schoology - Schoology is the media platform my school, Rogationist College is currently using. So basically, to be able to participate and comply to school, schoology is the way. • Twitter - This very “superior” social media platform is an aid to me in a lot of ways. Twitter allows me to engage in socio-civic issues/activities, gives me entertainment, helps in my art, and many more that basically keeps me sane.
