It’s Time to Put Up the Holiday Decor
If you’re like me, you’re likely late to the “boxing up holiday decorations” party. And considering a good majority of people do wait an entire month after the winter holidays to really pack everything up, well, then you’re likely one of those people.
But hey, who do you even invite over during the coldest month of the year? I mean, we love to host guests here at our place, but I don’t believe anyone has been around during January. For real, it’s super cold and no one wants to go anywhere. So, I can confidently say I’ve been using that as an excuse not to take the holiday decor down (and clean the place up).
But now that February is upon us this week, well, I think I’ve pushed back this task long enough. Luckily, this gives me a chance to sweep the floors, dust all wooden furniture, and put away stocking stuffers that have somehow found their way into all sorts of little pockets of my home.
Need an extra bit of motivation to get around to putting your decorations up? Look no further.
Get a headstart on spring cleaning.
If you put away everything now, you’ll even be motivated to start cleaning up the place. By doing this, you’ll ensure that your typical spring cleaning routine isn’t nearly as jam packed with things to do. So do yourself a favor and lighten the load that is imminent anyway.
Start having guests over again.
Like I mentioned above, we definitely don’t have anyone over during this period because, well, the place is a mess. Luckily, no one actually cares to come over since it’s so darn cold. But as February and March roll around, the bitter winter begins to subside, allowing you much more time to host friends and family. Don’t neglect having a little fun by hosting small get togethers just because you haven’t put away decorations. Find some of those old cheap moving boxes, toss all of your decor in those cheap moving boxes, and get to cleaning up.
Get to actually using your gifts.
I am ashamed to admit that I have let some of my Christmas gifts sit in their boxes or in corners of my home far too long. There’s some good stuff in there, too. If you’re like me, which you probably are, you’ve done the same and haven’t even gotten use out of some of your nice gifts. By cleaning house and redecorating, you’ll surely pick up that nice pair of headphones you haven’t opened up yet and get some real use out of them.
At the end of the day, it’s almost February and your holiday decorations are still proudly up. You need to get your priorities straight and clean up the place now that the holidays are over with.
