Personally, as much as we poke fun at the absurd amount of variants of each album (idk who’s buying all of those anyways?), I can tell Taylor Swift is not truly interested in cash grabbing fans because she still only does music. Every other pop artist on the face of this earth these days has a makeup line and a skincare line and a new perfume with every album and an H&M partnership. They’re an ambassador for x luxury designer brand at Paris Fashion Week. Some own liquor brands or entire sports teams??? Harry Styles is selling lube and vibrators now.
And Taylor Swift is. . . self-funding, writing, directing, and producing everything she does. Which is: music, music videos, and tours for her music.
opalite better be promoted as a high-end single and be accompanied with a cinematic music video otherwise it would be cruel summer 2.0 or enchanted 2.0
WHAT could this announcement be? Wrong answers only
"Okay, so I have this tradition when, the eve before I have a new album that comes out that starts a new musical era, I listen to the entirety of the last album that I made. So I listened to Tortured Poets Department to say goodbye to it, and I do it every time. It's every night before a new album comes out!"
— Taylor on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on the last non-Showgirl song of her own she listened to (x)
“So, this was happening at the same time as the Eras Tour. When I was on tour in Europe, last summer, it was the point in the tour where we had so many shows, so frequently. I was getting sick a lot. I was always physically sore. But I had reached the point in the show where I could do it muscle memory. So I needed something to wake my brain back up. I was like, ‘I need something that like, puts a little—’ it felt like I was so physically exhausted from the shows, but being mentally and sort of emotionally stimulated by making this music got me to the point where I was like, so excited to step back onstage, because I knew I had this little secret project that I was working on.”
— Taylor to Magic Radio on writing The Life Of A Showgirl during the Eras Tour (x)
worst thing about a job is that you have to. keep showing up. like you have to. you gotta.
Honestly ppl shouldnt complain about sound changes these days. If you weren’t here when Taylor dropped WANEGBT as a speak now swiftie….. now THAT was shocking
I feel like a big plot twist for this album is how it’s not exactly full-blown pure pop… given it’s max martin & shellback you’d think it’s 1989 on steroids. But it turns out most songs have some kind of soft rock undertone that gives a darker sometimes a lil jazzy or gothic edge idk
Austin telling Taylor that her missing her exes was like "eating out of the trash" was so real of him
"And so I could see their experience and their joy and that fed me, like that fueled me even when I was exhausted."
clean versions have “my check’s bigger” and “its making me sweat” btw 😂
y’all were saying cancelled is a diss track for blake lively but it turns out that it’s about sticking by friends who got cancelled sooooo….
TAYLOR SWIFT #something about never changing but never staying the same or whatever 🥹💕
“Everybody has that point in their life where you hit a crossroads and you’ve had a bunch of bad days and there’s different ways you can deal with it and the way I dealt with it was I just turned completely to music.”
not to be emotional but years ago on nights like this my dash was mostly full of posts about ppl having school the next day or needing to save their chore money to buy the album and tonight i’ve seen my mutuals talk about telling their partners about the album, bonding with their kids over it, and being excited to talk about it with their coworkers tomorrow. like i’ve had this blog since 2011 and i’m almost thirty and i’m going to be married next year but times like these remind me of the middle schooler whose mom drove her to walmart before school started to buy the speak now album the day it came out. it’s so crazy to think how much we’ve all grown and changed but our little tumblr community and our relationship with taylor is still the same
