To be clear, this is an admission that self-driving cars will never work, and never be safe, but of course that's no reason to abandon the concept, because that wouldn't make them money. It's much simpler for them to rewrite the narrative so it's everyone else's fault when a self-driving car kills someone.

This is exactly what happened with the creation of "jaywalking" in the 20th century. Cars, even driven by humans, are dangerous, but rather than admit this, automotive companies created the narrative of the "jaywalker" to make it the pedestrian's fault for getting hit.
