Parenting Task #434.
This is the horrifying sight you will find when after telling your son for over a month to seriously clean his room (like spring clean clean it), you finally give in and decide to do it yourself. This is all the stuff you will pull out from under his dresser, under his bed, and things that he has managed to slide under the crack of his closet door and hide behind his door. You will also discover petrified food that cannot be identified, empty drink bottles, and remnants of food packages that you were wondering where they had gone. Perhaps you’ll even find a whole load of clean laundry that was hidden in the corner of his closet that was sworn to have been put away. This is also the moment you will realize your child is a hoarder
This folks is the room of a boy.
And a place only found in the depths of a mother’s nightmare.
Folks, I don’t post this to shame my son. I post this as a warning and preview of what to expect so that you’re ready.
*Side note ~ This task was done about 2 weeks ago. The daughters room was also included in this night of cleaning. This mother had just come home from a night class and fair week preparation shopping. I worked at cleaning their rooms from midnight till 6am. There were 5 bags of trash that were added to the corner. They are told everyday to clean their rooms and I always say, if you don’t do it now you’ll make the job bigger. This Mamá was paid though for her hard work, $5 from each child. And it was said that for every week you keep it clean, you’ll earn $1 back. I’m still $10 richer.
