Niccolò dell'Arca was mentioned for the first time in 1462 in Bologna as Maestro Nicolò da Puglia, a “master of terracotta figures” “Compianto sul Cristo morto”, is a life-size group of six terracotta figures lamenting around the dead Christ. Date between 1460s and 1480s. Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Vita, Bologna
