One hour. Two. Four. Six. Anya had been working all day at the cafĂ©, watched dozens and dozens of students and staff come and go, buying their coffee or a sandwich---anything to fill their breaks. But there was one blonde in particular, a girl who was sitting on the furthest corner of the cafĂ© shop, books spread all over in front of her. The brunette waitress had walked over to her table, occasionally bringing her water or a new coffee. A point was reached where the cafeteria was empty, that Anya just sighed to herself and put a slice of chocolate cake on a plate, baked a coffee and walked over to her again. âHey...â she greeted her, standing there awkwardly for a moment. âOn the house,â she told her before putting what sheâd brought on the only empty spot on the metal surface.Â

âHey, have you seen who youâre talking to? Nobody ever finds me in a crowd.â Charlotte said with a giggle, âIâm pretty damn short.â âI love it so far. But, like, Iâve barely started so it can still all go wrong.âÂ
Anya looked down as her lips slowly formed a grin. âWe must be the same height..?â she wondered and took a step on the femaleâs side, looking down at their shoulders side-by-side. â---Yup.â Reclaiming the former distance between them, she shrugged her shoulders. âDonât wait last minute to study and youâll be fine. Iâve already had multiple students staying all day at the cafe because they were on a deadline on multiple subjects.â

âFeels like everyone went a bit too wild over the weekend; students are barely focusing â and Iâve got to say some of the professors arenât any better, either.âAnna said with a soft sigh as she took a sip of her coffee. âMondays really are the worst, however you look at it.â
âSomehow, you make me feel even more content with my decision to skip most of it,â Anya told the older woman. âA basic costume and a horror movie night was all the fun I got this weekend---it was cool.â
The very first day.
Anya had wasted a bigger amount of her first day at Alcott than sheâd originally planned. Between having to endure the headmaster himself taking her around for a walk in order to fish information out of her, and her shift at the cafeteria starting the same day, it was safe to say that her plan to confront her cousin had been stalled. So, when she saw her cousin enter the cafeteria and spotting her behind the counter, she didnât know if she should feel relieved or anxious that they hadnât met at a more private spot. âHey, C,â she greeted her cousin with a hint of a grin on the corners of her mouth, even though she could sense it wasnât as wide as sheâd like.

- âUh⊠I  study  here.â - he said, biting the side of his lesser lips softly. - âSo you are still mad at meâŠâ - he said, leaning forward slightly as he put his hands on his back pockets. - âAhm⊠And you? What are you doing around here? Whatâs your course?â - the words left his mouth but he could tell that conversation wouldnât last long and heâd probably leave with the mark of her hand on his cheek, which wasnât the worse thought considering all the things she could do to him but he knew she wouldnât. At least the girl he once knew wouldnât. Jake didnât know much about her now. He lost contact with her cousin and her family when he went to college.
All Anya could do was stare at him as if he came down from Mars---which, in her book, he did. He couldnât be for real. As if finding out that her new work space included being at the same area with him, now he stood there, attempting to have a conversation with her as if he hadnât shattered everything she knew and loved. âStay the fuck away from me,â she barked a low warning, instead of giving him any answers. âYou donât get to talk to me. You donât get to even look at my direction. Got it?â Without conscious thought, she took a step closer to him, as to give her words more meaning.Â
charlottejacobs:
âOh cool, Iâll have to look out for you. Iâm studying Criminology, actually.â
âYeah, do that.. Â Youâll notice me, most likely. Iâm short, but not that short. Thatâs...a very interesting field. How do you find it thus far?â
Jake was laid down on the grass, studying, as he usually did during his free time. At least when he was not on a party or kissing someone. A sigh came out of his mind and he left the book on his chest. It had been a long time since he spoke to his friend and his first ex and he thought about it all the time. He remembered that night when all of that happened and he didnât have the balls to go talk to her after that. Maybe he really was a prick as everybody used to say after all. As the memories of the past came to the boys mind, he watched as the people walked by, bored. Thatâs when he saw her, a familiar face in between many others. He got up quickly, running towards the girl, leaving behind everything he had on hands.
 - âOh, hey! Still mad at me, bae?â -  that was the only thing he could think of.

The walk around campus after work was among her favorite things to do---especially during sunny days like this one. It reminded her of home, of the few good things she left behind. After what had happened, sheâd come to connect LA to everything bad that had happened in her life. If sheâd known, if she couldâve even imagined, she wouldâve never agreed to move there with her family, new job be damned. And, when she heard that voice echo from behind her as she walked past it, it was like every nightmare sheâd ever had rushed into her life in one moment. Anyaâs face dropped, all blood leaving her face, and she froze on the spot. She didnât command her body to turn around---it just did it on its own. Slowly, a pair of infuriated, startled hazels glared back to come face to face with Jake Westburry. â---the fuck are you doing here?â she hissed instead, lowly, through greeted teeth.
Charlotte giggled a little, âmaybe but itâs not used even nearly enough..â He said with a shrug, Â âand you, do you study here?â
âTrue,â she replied with a soft chuckle of her own. âNo. I work at the cafeteria; started last week. You?â
Olivia barely nodded her head before she went back to her books. She looked up when there was coffee being placed on the table. She had least had the decency to thank her before she poured herself a cup, drinking it straight black. She looked up at the stranger and shook her head. âYou have no idea. Itâs been a rough week. Labs and papers due every other day. Not to mention I have a 15,000 word research paper due.â She swallowed another sip of coffee. âIs it possible for your brain to turn into mush?â
Anyaâs eyes widened when the blonde started talking about all the work she had ahead of her. âFor fuckâs sake...â she murmured, mostly to herself. It was times like these that she didnât miss being one of the students too much. Sheâd always hated some professorâs tendency to forget that theirs wasnât the only class each student had to take. âIâm no scientist---I wouldnât know. Whatâs the research paper about?â
âIs that your way of saying that I canât pull furiosa off?â She laughed.
âThatâs my way of saying youâd need to pull your hair in order to pull Furiosa off,â she replied jokingly. âThat canât be functional.â
âFair enough.â Lucas chuckled, preferring not to press further in the event that the other side was not reciprocating. Of course, he had a nagging suspicion that she was digging for something, but ignored it as he listened to her talk about how far down the illegal line would most of the staff here get, as the professor shrugged his shoulders at her question. âHonestly, I have no idea and no clue.â Lucas replied briskly. âWhat they do and whatnot is their secret and their business. I havenât really confirmed about rumors around college about whoâs dating who, whoâs fucking who for grades or for fun and who the teachers are having sex with and whatnot. Itâs all that: rumors. Iâm pretty sure youâll be able to figure it out eventually.â Lucas added, as he looked down at his phone. âBesides, whatâs illegal that youâre talking about?â
Anya was relieved to see that the male didnât push any further, even though that was the usual case scenario. The guys who kept on hitting on her after sheâd rejected them, were usually those who didnât know how to take a no for an answer. The brunette arched an eyebrow before pushing her lips together. âPretty much what you just listed,â she replied with a shrug of her shoulders. âEven if they were true, only one of us has the opportunity to find it out; Iâm no student here, so these rules donât apply to me.â She highly doubted he believed his own words. Of course, no staff who valued their job would admit out in the open that these rumors are true. It was different for students---a lot of them, Anya had found out, found such act liberating; something to brag about. Either way, she already knew that there was no such thing as âjust rumorsâ when it came to the Alcott University.
âOh.â Veronica replied, looking at the package that the other was holding up for her. Frowning a little bit at the package, she looked up at the person sending it to her. âDid this person has a name? Did you see it?â Vee asked. âI donât know about the package, but if it was for me then thanks. I guess.â Veronica began to unwrap her package in front of the other woman as she tore the wrapping paper up and looked in puzzlement at the now-open box. âA dildoâŠ?â
Anya shook her head. âNo. A delivery man left it. Heâd stopped for coffee and decided to leave it to me instead of searching through the dorms,â she murmured, the bitter tone evident in her voice. She couldnât get why some people couldnât do their job properly. âNo problem,â she nodded at the brunette and, as she began unwrapping the package, Anya nodded to herself and turned around to leave. It was the otherâs puzzled voice that made her turn around again and land her hazel eyes on the âpresentâ inside the box. Her eyes widened slightly, and she took them away from it to look up at the brunette. âUh... I guess now you know who this is from..?â
The order came quickly, and Sage looked up pleased and delighted by the sight of their food. âThat was very kind of you, Iâm sure itâs delicious.â The laughed, picking up a fry and popping it in their mouth. âIâm Sage by the way.â They nodded, just trying to make conversation. Plus they were a little lonely.Â
Slowly, a grin spread on Anyaâs lips before she pushed her lips together and nodded. âYeah.. Ever since I tried it, I just canât eat fries without that sauce on the side.â Loosely, she folded her arms low on her chest---a gesture she did almost every time she met someone new, which wasnât exactly her strong suit. It didnât combine too well with the fact that she rarely talked more than necessary. âAnya. I, uh, I should let you eat your food.â

Serena hadnât been planning on a spontaneous afternoon nap, but life had other plans. Propped against a tree on campus, books and paperwork in her lap, she stirred from her sleep slowly before waking with a start as soon as she felt for her phone and couldnât find it. Panicked now she scrambled to find it, looking low to the ground and speaking more to herself than the person she could feel nearby. âShit, where the hell is it?â
Anya had already found the female sleeping once she sat under the shadow of the tree nearby. Sheâd noticed her, but of course she didnât wake her up. Instead, she focused on having her version of a good time. It was her day off, and sheâd planned on spending it reading a good book. With most of the staff and students staying indoors to plan their Halloween costumes, outdoors wasnât as crowded. The brunette had barely read through a chapter when she heard the blonde femaleâs panicked voice, so she took her gaze off her book and looked over at her. âUm... You okay there?â
âMy professor said that I need to do a drawing from a live model, and I was going to do  this cat but it kept running off. So can I do you instead? please? Iâll do whatever you want,  I just really need to get this drawing done.â
âUmm.. Itâs possible, I guess... What do you want me to do?â
