Having aging family members who act a bit like Ilya’s father does here, I relate so hard to “he made it hard to feel sorry for him”.

In my case, I thankfully have a better relationship with them, and I wish I could be more supportive of them through their declining health. But due to their own masculine pride and their conservative values that actively work against the safety of my own community, there’s a really big distance between us. Sometimes the things they say are very hurtful. Sometimes they don’t even know why they’re hurtful.

The short conversation about Ryan Price in the show DID NOT prepare me for how cute it was to meet him from Ilya’s POV. I am so weak for seeing Ilya be a caring friend.

I’m obsessed with the idea of these two guys who have terrifying reputations and they’re both just sitting together being soft and kind to each other 😭

Finally watched Brokeback Mountain yesterday and I was struck by how many parallels there were to Heated Rivalry (this was only the first and most minor but I thought it was funny). Has Rachel Reid ever mentioned being inspired by it?

Thinking about how Shane had only ever experienced:

1. Unsatisfying maturbation by himself

2. Unsatisfying sexual encounters with girls

So when he finally gives into his actual sexuality and sleeps with Ilya, this 19 year old guy is, in his eyes, an absolute “sex god” just for being able to get him off.
