Luke was raised by his father, Darth Vader. He was a good person but eventually because of Palpatine's lies his relationship with father goes really wrong. In the end he hug dark side and becomes like his father. Vader don't happy with that because of Luke's attidue to him, he missed his young son.
Leia, on the other hand, works with the rebels and she is with Kanan's group as a result of an incident.
When they saw each other again something has just begun.
