Two glowing suns turned in the haze, creeping down the opening to meet his, surrounded by even blacker holes and a pasty face. A… face. A human face stared down at him, not distorted, not completely ghoulish as what he had been imagining, but ghoulish enough with inky tears straining its cheek and spilling down the lips to its neck. It was something like a human, or it used to be human at least… Well, they all used to be human, but this thing looked like a damn corpse.

It just stared down at him, the rest of the dark mist wafting in as the metal groaned open, but it didn’t act. Waylon had curled into a tight ball, bracing himself for the impending attack, waiting to be ripped open and torn limb from limb, waiting to feel the absolute worst pain of his life… But just silence.
