TW!! MENTIONS OF SA BELOW THE CUT. IN REFERENCE TO SA AWARENESS MONTH. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Guys I've got a really good story planned for SA awareness month that basically brings awareness to the whole 'boys not realising their 'bro' is actually a r@p1st or something similar,' while also being a sort of Y/A love story. It's NOT dark romance dw. The story basically describes a situation that can and does happen to many underage minors, and it's set in a secondary school in Britain where the characters are all Y11/ around 16.
I've chosen this specifically for a few reasons, mainly because I can write it with confidence and also i have seen and heard of similar situations happening to people I know in this age bracket/location. I've heard many of my (emotionally mature and media literate) friends complain about never being able to find a story with these topics covered without being fetishised and how it should be normalised to cover more realistic 'taboo' things in stories without it being overdramatised and the FMC being turned into a pathetic, helpless girl who's actually into it for some reason.
I'm planning on writing this as a full length story and won't post it until the whole thing is written, and if I think it's good enough quality I may even look into publishing it as an actual book. It's entirely original characters (I HATE people who publish/monetize their fanfiction.)
But basically I was wondering if it's acceptable to start writing it now as it's deff not gonna be done for a few months or maybe even a couple years (I have low motivation and go through like two months long periods of writers block) and post/publish it possibly not in the month of April even though it's for SA awareness month? And if the story is acceptable to write in general? Again it's to bring awareness to a realistic situation, (the story will end happily though) and I'm sick of all these icky tropes in books so I wanna write something that's not fetishising SA. My MC is NOT going to end up with the fucking assaulter, and it's going to be also a story about recovering and being able to overcome the trauma of the events with the help of people around you and your own inner strength.
would this be okay to write and is there anything anyone would want me to add into the story? I'll take suggestions!
yes, write it!!
no, don't write it.
nuance/other (only choose this if your gonna explain in comments or asks!)
○reader is in Gryffindor (though i kinda wanted to change it to hufflepuff halfway through lwk..)

Walking through the stone hallways of Hogwarts, Y/N was late to divination class. Again.
Now, the previous divination lesson hadn't gone terribly well - Hermione ended up running out in a huff, and Professor Trelawney freaked out over some tea leaves, claiming Harry Potter would, like, die or something.
Honestly, Y/N wasn't even surprised. That boy was always in danger or had someone trying to kill him. It was honestly kind of funny at this point - some students had even started a betting pool on Harry and his woes. What would attack him this time, wether Dumbledore will give him 200 points for saving the school again, if he'll get horribly injured, etc.
Fred and George, of course, have no comment on who started the betting pool.
They also just happen to come into money every time the pool is cashed.
Anyway, as Y/N's boots drummed against the floor, she reached the stairs leading to the divination tower.
"Bloody hell!" She cursed as a ghost materialised in front of her, floating down the corridor with no care for the fright it just gave her.
Unfortunately, the stairs decided to move right then.
The wood creaked, and the stone shifted, swivelling round slowly.
"Seriously??" She exclaimed in frustration. Great. Now she'd be even later for class.
At this point, she thinks Trelawney's going to announce to the class her fatal end being the reason for her current absence. It sounds in character for the kooky woman.
"Yeah. Magic castle. Real great," she muttered to herself, twirling her wand in her hand impatiently, "until it decides to move a whole staircase purely to make you later."
Turning the corner of the corridor, she paused.
She was already twenty minutes late - it would take her at least another ten to actually get to the classroom.
"Right, whatever. I'm simply not going." She decided.
--
About fifteen minutes later, Y/N was situated nicely in a small alcove, a book in hand, eyes flicking through the words on the pages. The story was enthralling - it was about a boy who goes to a magic school, and has to fend off evil at every turn.
Y/N was so drawn in to the novel, however, she didn't realise another student had approached.
"Didn't realise you Gryffindors had it in you to skive off. Thought you were all too chivalrous."
An obnoxiously recognisable voice interrupted the white noise of the empty hallway. Y/N sighed rather dramatically, bookmarking her page by flicking over a small corner at the top.
"Yes, well, it's no surprise your here. Slytherins reputation precedes you, Malfoy." She replied, eyes flicking down to the blonde.
He smirked lazily, tilting his head. "So, you have heard of me. I mean, who hasn't? My father-" the boy was speaking with such a snobbish air, Y/N simply interrupted.
"Oh, do shut up about your father, malfoy." Turning to face him, "No one cares." She said exasperatedly.
He blinked. People didn't often talk to him that directly. He was almost impressed - nevertheless, his lips curled into a sneer.
"I'll have you know, i-" again, he gets cut off.
"Look, malfoy, I don't care how much blood money or connections you have. All I care about in regards to you is how disappointing it is you've become such a..snobbish, narrow-minded philistine instead of the quite pleasant person you surely could have become."
Hopping gracefully down from her windowsill rest, she left malfoy in silence. The boy barely knew this girl - he had only commented on her existence out of boredom, noticing her gryffindor tie and granger-style hobby.
Shoes clicking down the corridor, Y/N didn't look back. Malfoy, however, watched her leave with a mix of annoyance, utter bafflement, and more than a touch of confusion.
"Whatever, mudblood." He muttered, stalking off in the opposite direction. He was Draco Lucius Malfoy. The opinions of some random gryffindor should matter nought to him.
..
And yet, even in the dusk of the Slytherin common room, several long hours later, he couldn't stop thinking about it.
"I mean, who even is she to have such a based opinion on me? She knows nothing about me. I don't even know her name, for merlin sake, and she thinks she can just -" his hands were unusually animated as he spoke, moving about to express his intense annoyance at the whole debacle- "voice her thoughts on my whole character with no basis? It's simply- ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous." Malfoy ranted to Blaise Zabini, who listened with a somewhat bored, partly amused expression, legs crossed in one of the leather armchairs in the common room.
The fireplace danced next to them, crackling green-tinted flames just to set the mood. Slytherins always had to have dramatic flair. You'd think someone dumped a whole tray of floor powder in the blaze.
Blaise sighed, a silent chuckle playing at his lips.
"Look, draco, if it really means that much to you, find the girl and show her why she's wrong." He shrugged.
"Her opinion is how the whole school sees you. Why does it bother you when she says it?" Blaise added, before leaning back in the chair. "But hey, that's just my perspective. I don't really care, to be honest."
Draco scoffed, running one hand through his platinum waves. "Yeah, real helpful, zabini." He muttered.
Fidgeting with the silver ring on his finger - monogrammed with the malfoy crest, of course - he stared blankly at the common room's stone walls, lost in thought.
___________
It was a sunny day in Hogwarts, and Y/N had Care of Magical Creatures.
Now, usually this lesson was pretty looked forward too, but after the last one - Malfoy had caused a huge ruckus, disobeying the professor and angering the magnificent creature that he so crudely called a beast -
The class approached with bated breath. Malfoy's arm was out of the sling now, but he still muttered about how he swears he's permanently disfigured.
Y/N had thought the creature; named Buckbeak, was rather marvelous. She had actually been one of the only ones brave enough to volunteer to interact with it, though she didn't get a chance.
She didn't really mind. It was hilarious seeing the blonde aristocrat writhe around on the floor. Honestly, he should be given a place in the school play.
"Honestly, Ron, do you ever think before you speak? Some of the things you come out with.." Hermione said exasperatedly, setting her textbook down with a huff and turning to the ginger, who looked confused.
"What?? I only said-" before he could repeat whatever daft thing he had uttered, hermione put her finger to his lips.
"Don't say it again. Merlin's beard." She rolled her eyes.
Y/N chuckled at the pairs antics. She was decent friends with the Golden Trio - she had sat with them in first year once she got sorted into Gryffindor, and they had gelled ever since.
She often chose to go off on her own, though, valuing her peace and lonesome more than most.
Hermione turned, greeting the girl with a warm smile, and Harry awkwardly waved in acknowledgement, giving a lopsided smile.
"Boy problems?" Y/N said dryly. Hermione sank down onto the large boulder Y/N was using as a seat, slumping against it.
"I wish. I love them both, I do, but they are exhausting! Honestly, they're both so stupid sometimes. I had to stop them from attempting to put a lightning-tailed whizzlizard in a muggle power socket earlier." She complained. Y/N laughed. The boys antics never failed to stress hermione out.
"Sometimes I wonder how Harry manages to survive all these attacks from the dark lord, and still puts himself in more danger with things like that." Y/N mused.
The two girls continued chatting, until Hagrid ambled into the glade.
"Ello, class! Righ', today, we're goin to be learnin' bout Thestrals. Now, I don't think many of ya will be able to see 'em, but there's many round 'ere, see. They roam the forests of hogwarts - and they pull our carriages."
Hangrid then rambled on for a while about thestrals and how you can only see them if you've seen someone die, etc, etc. Y/N tuned most of it out - not out of disrespect, but because she was distracted by a group of dark, almost skeletal horses pacing the edge of the stone wall that distinguishes the class.
One of the creatures hopped over the wall, and she watched as it nervously approached the class group.
"Uhm, sir, what is that?" Y/N asked hagrid. The class turned to look at where she pointed - but no one could see anything.
"Eh?" Hagrid turned, comedically looking behind him. "I don't see nothin."
"Right there, behind you." Y/N added helpfully.
A scoff echoed from behind her.
"Hallucinating, are we? God, everyone in this school is loony." Malfoy said loudly, stepping forwards to Y/N. He tilted his head down at her, a malicious, mean-spirited smirk on his face.
"Gonna start screaming about a monster in the sky next?" Draco teased, earning a few snickers.
Ron furrowed his brows, stepping forward. "Oi, shove off, malfoy." He grunted, hermione standing up too, and Potter rounding off the Trio.
"Oi, that's enough of that. I suspect that what young Y/N's seein' is exactly what we're learnin' bout. I have a simple way ta see if they're ere or not. No need to get hostile, now." Hagrid bellowed, before trotting over to the line of raw meat he had on the go - leftovers from buckbeak's lesson, looks like.
Hagrid chucked a raw steak in the centre of the field. The class watched, bored as nothing happened.
Y/N watched the creature - who she suspected was a Thestral - trot towards the meat, before scarfing it down in three bites.
The class gasped, rather dramatically.
"See? Told you there was something there." Y/N said to malfoy, who just rolled his eyes, leaning against her boulder with a very obviously forced nonchalant air.
"Whatever." He muttered.
Hagrid turned back to the class.
"Can anyone else see it? Or just Y/N?" he asked. Harry tentatively put his hand up.
"Uh..I can." Harry said, eyes flicking round the class.
Draco groaned. "Of course Potter can see it. What can't he do? He's the chosen one, after all." He stated. Y/N kicked draco with her boot, to which the boy turned with a shocked face.
"Oi! How dare-"
She hopped down from the rock, simply raising a hand to silence malfoy, who sputtered at the sheer audacity.
"Right, well, since we got 'xtremely lucky ere to have these glorious creatures show up, how bout let's have you ride em?"
Y/N blanched internally. Harry looked significantly paler. Draco smirked.
"Oh yeah, I'd like to see this. Riding invisible ponies? How more ridiculous can this class get?"
Unfortunately, this was dracos worst mistake yet. Hagrid pointed at the boy.
"Since you 'ave such strong opinions on it, Malfoy, how 'bout you come up ere too? Y/N can show you where they are." Hagrid grinned.
Draco's face dropped. "Absolutely not! I simply refu-" but despite his reluctance, the class had other opinions, and his 'friends' pushed him forwards into the centre of the glade, where Harry and Y/N were standing.
"Come on then, malfoy." Y/N said with a little too much smugness in her voice. She wouldn't lie - this was intensely amusing. Especially as she knows draco can't see the animals. He was shit scared, and his current bravado was doing nothing to hide it.
She took his hand, much to his displeasure, and led him to one of the multiple Thestrals that had joined them in the glade.
"How on earth am I supposed to get on something I can't see?"
Draco complained. Possibly the only valid question he's had today. Y/N pondered.
"Right." She pulled out her wand, and pointed it at draco, who stared at her with wide eyes.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" She spoke the spell, and draco started living into the air. He wobbled, but didn't dare embarrass himself further by kicking about. Y/N lowered him onto the thestral, and draco shrieked as he landed softly on the creature.
"What am I on right now?? This is-" he whimpered as the skeletal horse decided to rear up, and he grabbed onto the invisible handholds for dear life. The class laughed. Hagrid smiled.
Harry and Y/N had already mounted theirs - the one Y/N approached even knelt down to allow her easier access. She patted it's muzzle happily.
"Alright. Now get em to fly." Hagrid smiled widely.
"Wait, what?? What do you mean fl-" Draco started.
All three thestrals took off at the same time. Draco shrieked at a pitch that probably could pierce a werewolves ears.
Harry yelled in glee, much like he did last week on Buckbeak.
Y/N simply smiled, enjoying the wind on her face and holding onto the horse tight.
"Calm down, malfoy. What are you so scared about?" She called, to which the boy flipped her off.
She laughed.
Potter yelled over the sound of the rushing wind. "Oi, malfoy! Not so loony now, are we?!" Harry laughed.
Draco did not find it so amusing.
They soon circled back around, landing back in the glade - the thestrals seem to have some understanding of human language, perhaps, as Y/Ns soft words were taken with great acknowledgement, and dracos harsh ones earnt him a very bumpy ride.
Harry and Y/N had the time of their lives. Draco, not so much.
Harry jumped off its back making his way back over to Ron and hermione, flicking his robes a little and adjusting his tie.
Y/N's Thestral whinnied, kneeling down so the girl could gracefully dismount - an honour which she made sure to thank the creature for, summoning a small sugar cube with her wand and stroking it's bony muzzle.
Draco jumped off, landing with a groan. His hair was all out of place from the wind, strands falling into his face, completely the opposite of his 'perfectly put together rich boy' aesthetic. His tie was skewed, much to his annoyance as he fiddled with the knot, tugging it back into place under his collar.
He stormed over to Y/N, looking down at her, before faltering for only a second under her exhilarated gaze. The slight pinkness of her cheeks from the air hitting them only made her face glow with colour, smiling with genuine joy.
Draco's eyes flicked down. He stayed silent, before turning away and stalking over to his friends.
Y/N watched him for only a moment, curious gaze leaving him and joining the trio in their conversation.
"That was amazing!" She laughed. Harry nodded, a boyish smile growing on his face. His hair was slightly messed up too - although, difference is, his is always like that.
"Malfoy was screaming like a girl the whole time." Harry added; earning a glare from hermione.
"Right, right, sorry - like a banshee." He corrected. Hermione hummed.
Over by the wide oak tree, draco's eyes fixed on her. He heard her laugh tinkle through the air, it's soft sound annoying him to no end for the sheer fact he was even noticing it. Watching the so called 'golden trio' laugh and joke with so much exuberance honestly made him jealous. He scoffed again, turning over to Pansy who was tugging at his sleeve.
"Cmon, draco. Let's go." She whined in his ear about something or other, and he tuned it all out, but walked back to hogwarts with crabbe, goyle, blaise, pansy, and a couple other extras who he didn't even care to remember the names of who insisted on following him around. They thought they were friends, or something.

Hi hi!! I kinda wanted to make this one long part but idk where to continue from here, ideas in the comments? Also, if anyone wants to request anything feel free! My inbox is open (:
- note - I mostly write male fictional characters X female love interest, because that's easiest to write for me as I am a men-leaning bisexual woman. I can write for female characters, just request it! Probably won't do character ships unless I choose to write it myself - especially MLM as I have no experience writing that yet. I am always learning and growing, and am 100% supportive of all LGBTQIA+ people! However please respect that this is my blog that I can choose what to write in, and I write what I feel comfortable doing. (Only yapping because SOME. SOME!! fandom members can get verryy toxic about ships and what people write etc. I'm still a new author finding my style and learning!)
