I'm a jp player and hoard almost 600 gold apple, 80ish silver too (used most of the silver in lottery event). After the fantasy tree raid, my gold apple is at 470 with 0 silver and brown, so yes, keep hoarding them if you don't want to use quartz to farm raid/lottery.
