Looking forward to finally see Overhaul's backstory. I think Chisaki and Dabi have met before but not in the structure where Touya was when he woke up. It's possible that Overhaul fixed him AFTER Dabi ran away from there.

I also think that Chisaki wasn't part of the facility because of the way he's dressed up in the image. He looks neat and clean and older so maybe he's already part of the yakuza here. There's a chance that Oyaji (or Pops) was a contributor to the facility unaware of the fact that the children living there were meant to be used as an experiment for AFO.

That would be interesting, but at this point Hisashi can’t be anyone else than AFO because:

He acts like he knows Izuku so well (You chose a difficult path)

According to him, his blood relatives can use and interact with multiple quirks as well. None of previous OFA holders could do it, so it’s a special condition of Izuku alone.

AFO nuked an entire city just to kill Nana and All Might had to change continents to escape.

Said villain doesn’t put Izuku through the same amount of danger. In fact he avoids killing him on multiple occasions (Kamino and twice in war arc).

He’s literally like: “Bring this boy to me without killing him and letting him break any of his bones” and the hired villains are like “WTF is his deal”

If you check visuals there are a lot of similar poses between Izuku and AFO. Their body types, hands and even faces are very similar.

You can’t look at these 2 pictures and say they aren’t related. Because they are, and current manga arc is building up to their reveal 🥺

@animehime94 I agree that they look quite similar in the pictures but I really don’t think in the Dad for ALL theory. The reason behind it is that in the last chapter (317) AFO said that he was  no longer interested in All Might but is interested in Deku only NOW.

1) He thinks he knows Deku because he has experience. He has probably met people like Deku before and saw how they turned their ways after they learn the truth of how cruel society is.

2) Izuku is special because his body is evolved (him being quirkless is explained by the whole foot theory that was presented at the start).

3) AFO is genuinely interested in the kid. Shigaraki and Deku are the new generation of AFO and OFA so he wants to know how they will react as they grow up. Plus AFO is weak now.

4) Maybe AFO wants to have OFA back so in order to have it in its fullest potential he’ll let Deku master it first, make it stronger.

5) Maybe he may want to turn Deku to his side by showing the truth of the society (he did the “you’re next” after he gave the order)

6) He sees Deku as himself.

I don't know why but everytime deku says he wants his hands to reach the ones abandoned by hero society it just feels like empty words to me. Like he's just saying it to make himself feel better without actually putting in an effort. He still has yet to acknowledge how fucked up hero society is properly and he's working with an abuser and a murderer without having a problem. Idk it's just wrong for me how he's able to ignore all the horrible things that made the villains while sprouting he wants to save the villains but still only fights them. It just feels like at this point he refuses to actually adress the real problem which is hero society. It's starting to feel intentional in his part even and I'm starting to feels really sick about that.

I agree with what you've said but I think the reason behind that is that he's still developing. Since he's very active and didn't really have a chance to think on his own. If you think about his main focus right now is to take down Shigaraki: one because Shigaraki himself is after OFA and two because imo he's been "told" to do so. He has the responsibility to stop AFO because of his predecessors efforts and he can't escape that responsibility.

I think he hasn't really think about Dabi's situation, he didn't even hear the whole story of Toya yet (or at least it's not showed yet) because he has only Shigaraki in his head.

One thing that's important is the fact that he's still a 16 year old boy. It's difficult to have a clear viewpoint of the society because, till now, he has only seen the bright side of hero society. Now with Lady Nagant and the villains he's going to meet he'll see the ugly side of it (or at least that's what I think will happen). I think Overhaul is going to be important to understand that. Also I have noticed that the first time he said "how can I consider myself a hero if I can't save everyone " was when he defeated Overhaul so I think it's very interesting that now he's been put to a position where he has to "save" Chisaki.

Personally I do not like the whole "he's only 16" argument because the manga is written by an adult who choose to put the themes inside it and made it so that deku is forced to adress them but still fails to actually write it coherently for me.

It's just bad writing and it frustrates me because deku does know about the todoroki situation for a while now. Maybe not everything but enough to see that it should never have been possible for endeavor to be able to do that and get away with it. Besides dabi did pretty much do a broadcast and kinda told him it in the battlefield but there I'm still kinda forgiving because he was clearly stressed out.

But what bothers me that there isn't a page where he thinks back. He never in a clam environment tries to think about what happened and if he can see a point or if there are agreeable aspects. I actually dislike how deku takes saving so literally while this is a big point and maybe he's starting to see the darker side he doesn't take a stance to it. Instead of being confused why Lady was ordered to kill people before they did anything he asks about the murder of her boss which shouldn't be the point in that moment. As such I can not believe him. He is too late for me.

It was pointed out to me that when deku found out about the abuse todoroki endured by endeavor should he have had cracks in his rose tinted glasses about hero society. But he did not. Only now he's starting to and even then he is portrait as the perfect hero but that isn't true if you ask me. I'd love for his flaws to be addressed and for him to finally grow even if it's this late but he needs to fail for it and to actually think about how he wants to even be able to save shigaraki.

And now with chapter 315 im really disappointed how Lady switched up because he maybe acknowledged the darker sides but does he offer a mild kind of solution? No. And he is still working with Hawks and endeavor, the two hero's that are the best example of the problems in the society, without a problem. I do not expect him to pull out a thesis or an entire 20 year plan to make society better but he's really not giving me much. He wants to save everyone but has never shown me how he wants to do it and if now he realizes that not every villain should just be punched out, I would really appreciate some vauge idea of how he wants to save them. Like I said currently he can't have a perfect plan but I feel like he could have something ready. Some thinking about his convictions and how he should change them with his new goal and information.

I think I understand what you mean but I feel that the reason why the mangaka chooses to show Deku this way is because he wants us to see its flaws first. And if that's the case then I really like what's he's doing because we can finally have MC that has flaws and isn't good for the sake of being good. This is also the reason why I think we should not forget he's just a 16 year old boy (I understand that the mangaka is an adult but we're reading the mangaka by the POV of a teenager), him being a teenager is important to me because when you're this young is easy to be confused about how society works and by the time you're an adult you just start to close your eyes on certain things in order to just go with the flow. Deku being someone who wants to save people and then just not doing it means (to me) he need to find his answers before actually doing something rather than being manipulated by others thoughts.

I agree with you about the fact that Deku hasn't addressed Dabi's situation yet though, the story is moving pretty fast so maybe the mangaka decided to not show that for now (we readers must not forget that mangakas has to follow certain rules when they publish their chapters..Horikoshi has said he wants to show many things that he can't waste his time on beacause of his publishers pressure) maybe he will address that in the future when the focus switches back to Dabi and all and the story is better developed for us to understand. Also Deku was not present when the Toya abuse story was told, so maybe he still doesn't know about it yet.

Imo Hawks and Endeavor to him right now are people who are supporting him.. he can't go completely alone because he needs assistance I think and hope to see Deku's thoughts about Twice's death (maybe when he'll see Toga again) but for now he's has not time to think about anyone other that AFO.

I have some other things to say but this post is getting longer and longer but I really like to have this discussion with you.

I'd love to have this discussion with you as well! You make great points and I can see your point of view especially with the explanation of the reason that deku is a 16 year old (while I still dislike it I can see where you're coming from and I agree for like half of it).

Honesty I do think this arc alongside the hospital arc are way too rushed. It's sad because if there was a little more time spend on discussions and looking on the consequences of the war arc a lot of my problems wouldn't be that big I think. It's sad and I agree that most likely the mangaka is under a lot of stress which really sucks. It shouldn't be that he has to work himself to the bone and give us rushed chapters that need some refinements if you ask me. But while I understand that, I'm still disappointed that a story that I loved is slowly being undermined by the rushed production. I acknowledge that the mangaka his in a bad situation which is why I will only critic the story (concerning deku I do have some beef with the treatment of the female characters but I do not wanna accuse him of anything bad) because even if I understand why it could be like this I do still like to show my disappointment.

Now I as well love a flawed Mc they are my favorite because even if I don't agree with them they feel realer to me. Now the thing is that deku has flaws we agree on that and that's amazing! He feels like a real boy or as real as an anime Mc can get. But my problem lies with how the story treats those flaws. Like I said deku now getting development is great, very late but great, so I will not focus on why he actually should have had some small developments in his views earlier. I'm focusing on chapters 314 and 315. In the fight with Lady (sorry I have problems spelling her full name so I just call her lady) he is up against a train assassin who was a full fledged hero before and during that fight she tells him her story. Now again he only focuses on the part were he wasn't told the same thing as from Hawks. My problem is that he should think about how horrible it is that the commission had people assassinated but ok let's ignore that as well for now. Lady calls him naive in his views of hero's and hero society which I 100% agree with. I did hope she would be the one who would make him see the truth by being someone who can show him how fucked up society is and someone he admired as a hero. She is a great foil to his views! Or she was until little deku said she has the heart of a hero and boom she acknowledges him as a true hero just as easy as that. Sure he saved overhaul but that's the bare minimum a hero should do. He still is the naive kid from the start, he didn't change. It just feels like his flaws are barly acknowledge and when they are they are followed up with 'but that's unimportant because he's a true hero owo' like pls no. It's always so close to actually forcing him to change but it feels like horikoshi just doesn't have it in him to go through with it. It's really frustrating for me.

Like I said I do think its because of the rushed writing that we do not yet have seen a chapter in which deku just takes time to think about everything he learned about the villains and hero society and makes a decision on where he stands. One chapter of introspective of deku on how he is forcing himself to change his tactics and bias towards villains would be amazing and really show that he is just that 16 year old kid that now is forced to confront the ugly reality and trying to make the best of it.

With endeavor and Hawks I do agree he needs backup but I do find it not so great for his character development that he is willingly and happy working with the 2 people who represent that problems in hero society for me at least. Some reluctance or something would have been great to see. Or him disagreeing with the methods one of them wants to use would also have been better to show he doesn't agree with them 100% or show that he does hold them accountable for their wrongdoings.

Now this is also quite long and I hope it made sense.

Yeah I agree with you that this arc is being too much rushed. We can't really see how the protagonist is evolving if it is not showed to us what's he thinking. But I thing that the reason behind it is that we have to wait to see his thoughts to be developed as he has to process all the infos he's recieving. I guess I'm just giving the author the benefit of the doubt and wait till the Deku has his questions answered in order to act as a person who actually wants to save everyone.

I also I agree that the author could've done a better job with the story of Lady N, as you said the fact that she just acknowledged him as a true hero did not make much sense to me either and was hoping to see her have a better discussion with Deku. Ok he saves Overhaul and in a sense gave her a silent answer with his actions but that alone doesn't make him a "true" hero: what would've he done if he was put in a position similar to hers, with the pressure of the responsibility to make the society better? But yet again he said he wanted to be a hero that saves everyone not just a hero (like a job or something). Now with chapter 316 AFO gave Deku some material to think about ("there will always be people who are going to be ostracized by the society") I think that since Deku wants to defeat AFO he will think this through. And from what I saw from the spoilers of 317 he will be on his own for a little time (I hope so, so he's not influenced by external thoughts).

I'm also glad that Endevor will be separated from him because he wants to redeem himself then he has to figure things out on his own (even though he still has to fulfill his duty of stopping criminals).

Edit: someone pointed out that it's kinda hypocrite that Deku reminds Overhaul about what he did to Eri and should feel apologetic about it but hasn't said a thing about Endeavor abusing Touya. I kinda agree even though the situation it's different.

On the other side, I think that Hawks still doesn't consider killing Twice a bad thing because he did what he had to do (don't get me wrong I still think that there would have been a better way to handle the situation). And he might not acknowledge his act as wrongdoing till someone doesn't point that out. We as readers do feel bad for Twice but I don't think that civilians feel the same way because he was in fact catagolaized as a criminal and criminals are bad (this is what I think that the civilians would think not necessarily my opinion). That's why Toga will be important someday in the future because she truly cared for Twice.

I think I'm willing to "forgive" Horikoshi for the choices he makes because I'm looking to where the story is going rather than where the story is right now. But at the same time there are some parts that could have been better represented as well and yes people should be able to show their disappointment if they feel like to do so because that might help others people to be better too.

The hot weather is really getting me so I really hope what I wrote makes sense.

So I was trying to translate this week's chapter and I noted something curious about the meaning of the name of the forest Haibori, which is written 灰掘 in kanji.

灰 is read as "hai" and it means ash

掘 is read as "hori" and it means moat/fosse

So haimori mean an "ash fosse" which makes sense since the mainson exploded.

We don't have the full panel yet but I suppose he's saying つぎは 君だ which means "the next is you". Imo.. It's a parallel with what All Might said when he retired (he used the same words) but with a double meaning I think AFO means "the next one who is going to become like me" or "the next one who is going to be disappointed by the reality". I'm looking forward to see what's gonna happen next.
