FREE WRITING AND ART SUBMISSIONS!

Aôthen Magazine is opening for submissions from now (February 8) until March 15!

Normal submissions will be free of charge, which unfortunately means that we cannot pay our contributors. However, a print copy of the final magazine will be mailed free-of-charge (including shipping) to everyone who gets published.

What we are looking for:

Anything Classics related, including:

Poetry (up to 5 poems per submission)

Essays (opinion or otherwise) (max. 2500 words)

Short fiction (max. 1500 words)

Photography (eg. of artefacts or sites)

Art (digital or traditional)

Translation extracts (max. 2500 words)

What we don’t accept:

Anything overly graphic

We understand that violence and sexuality are very prevalent in classics, but please for the sake of our audience, please do not go into excruciating or inconsiderate detail

Anything not related to classics

Classics zine interest check!

Aôthen Magazine (named after the Doric Greek term for the earliest dawn) is a zine that is dedicated to all kinds of Graeco-Roman classics-inspired content—artworks, poetry, essays, reviews, photography, and more—as a celebration of both archeology and history!

Submissions for issue number one are opening soon, and we’d like to do a quick interest check on submissions. Please reblog if interested! All submissions will be free and held on submittable.
