i think since this is a prevalent piece in yue’s lore , so i need to talk about the dead current and how it works.
at its core, the dead current is a cursed underflow moving beneath all living seas — not a normal tide, but a spiritual one made from what the water was never meant to keep for so long. it began, as a wound in the natural order: the grief of shipwrecks, drowned cities, broken vows, ritual deaths, unfinished burials, and lost souls gathering over generations until remembrance itself curdled into something sentient. the sea is meant to hold memory, but not endlessly, and not without mercy. the dead current is what happens when memory has nowhere to go and sorrow is left to sink too deep for too long.
it does not move like ordinary water. it does not answer to moon, wind, or season, but to death, imbalance, and accumulated grief. it spreads through spiritually weakened waters first — old battle coasts, sacrificial sites, ruined shrines, burial trenches, ship graveyards, and places where divine law or sacred rite have broken down. from there, it infects surrounding tides, creating wrong currents, unnatural stillness, blackwater blooms, and rift current tears where the boundary between the living sea and the abyss begins to split open.
what it feeds on is not just death itself, but unresolved death. it grows stronger on sorrow left unnamed, bodies not returned, prayers not finished, vows broken at sea, and the emotional weight of those who were taken without closure. this is why it can swallow ships and crews so easily in the present — every new loss feeds the old hunger. every disappearance gives it more memory, more grief, more voice. in that sense, it behaves almost like a spiritual ecosystem of ruin: always consuming, always deepening, always trying to pull the living down into the same unfinished silence.
the effects are not only physical, but spiritual and psychological. waters touched by the dead current become heavy, cold, and wrong; marine life may grow hostile, sickly, or deformed; ghosts and drowned memories begin surfacing; sacred waters lose their purity; and those sensitive to spirit or tide may hear voices in shells, dreams, and still pools. over time, it reaches the mainland too — through blighted coasts, failed fisheries, vanished ships, and crews swallowed by currents that should not exist.
yellow calla lily : a request to be friends .
yellow hibiscus : sibling or sibling - like affection .
𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 / @asterites
yuè studied the flowers in thoughtful silence, fingertips brushing first over the yellow calla lily, then the hibiscus beside it. understanding softened her expression by degrees, until a quiet smile settled upon her lips. ❝ a hand offered in friendship . . . and affection given as kin, ❞ she murmured, more to the blossoms than to herself.
she gathered the flowers carefully into her arms, holding them close enough for their petals to rest against her heart. ❝ then let the sea bear witness to my answer. ❞ her smile warmed, tender and unguarded as she reached outward for an embrace. ❝ you shall have both—a friend beside you, and a sister wherever the tides may carry us. ❞
she has faced warlocks & maegis, prophecy & mockery yet none are as curious as the might before her now, no stranger than the truth of herself — to have awoken such magic within the world, but it is not greed that entices her forward, only true & innocent curiosity. “ the gods hold us all in their hands. ” death has come for her more times than she can count; she may very well be death's daughter for all the destruction the stranger has left in her wake. her parents, her niece & nephew that she had never known, both her dragons, her sun - and - stars despite the pain he had caused her — but most importantly, her son. daenerys tenders her lip with her teeth. “ life & death are theirs to give, to take away. ” she reaches out her hand. “ but men in their pride look for others to blame. ”
yuè regarded the offered hand before she regarded the woman who extended it. there was grief in her that moved like an undertow—deep, relentless, and made dangerous by how quietly it endured. ❝ men have always preferred blame to mourning, ❞ she said at last, her voice soft as water passing over stone. ❝ blame asks nothing of them. grief demands they remember what they loved. ❞
only then did yuè place her hand within the others, pale fingers closing with measured care. ❝ perhaps the gods hold us, ❞ she murmured, lavender gaze steady upon hers. ❝ but i have learned that even gods loosen their grasp. what remains afterward—what we choose to carry, and what we refuse to become—belongs to us alone. ❞
the coral clans
meaning: the old sea-blooded merfolk clans who dwell among reefs , pearl coasts , drowned temples , and coral citadels.
description: the coral clans are the oldest merfolk houses tied to the worship and descendants of áo rèn. they are bound by tide-law , blood-oaths , and ancestral reef territories rather than one united kingdom. outwardly they appear beautiful and ceremonial , but beneath that elegance is a rigid political order that governs inheritance , marriage , exile , and divine legitimacy among sea-born nobility.
the tidebound council
meaning: the ruling body of five elders who govern the coral clans through ancient law , ritual authority , and inherited power.
description: the tidebound council acts as the oldest surviving seat of authority beneath the sea, preserving old laws and sacred custom while maintaining control through arranged alliances , ritual censure , and political pressure. though they claim to guard balance and order , yue sees them as rigid and fear-driven, and intends one day to disband them and rebuild the sea’s governance with new allies.
abyss chosen
meaning: one marked by the deepest aspect of the sea-dragon’s power — not the gentle tide , but the abyss.
description: the abyss chosen are rare individuals believed to be claimed by the unfathomable deep, often born beneath strange tides , storms , or omens. unlike ordinary sea-blessed nobles, they carry powers tied to pressure , silence , prophecy , and death beneath the waves, making them both revered and feared. for yue, it means she is not merely dragon-descended — she is chosen by the oldest darkness in áo rèn’s inheritance.
the dead current
meaning: a cursed spiritual current that carries the memories , spirits , and grief of the drowned.
description: the dead current is a black, silent flow said to move beneath all seas, fed by shipwrecks , drowned cities , broken vows , and unfinished burials. those touched by it may hear drowned voices or feel the pull of souls never laid to rest. it is not evil in the simplest sense — it is remembrance without mercy, and for yue it is both threat and calling.
rift current tear
meaning: a wound in the sea’s natural order , where currents split between the mortal world and something deeper.
description: a rift current tear is a supernatural fracture in the ocean, often appearing as spiraling black tide or luminous water where the boundary between life and death, surface and abyss, has been torn open. such tears may distort time, reveal drowned memories, birth monsters, or mark a soul forever. yue’s connection to them is part of why the abyss claimed her so completely.
tide bond rite
meaning: a sacred ritual that binds souls , bloodlines , or vows through the living tide.
description: the tide bond rite is one of the most powerful ceremonies among the coral clans, used for marriage, sworn loyalty, divine inheritance, and sacred obligation. those joined through it offer blood, pearl-dust, seawater, and spoken vow beneath moonlit tide, allowing the sea itself to bear witness. if broken, the rite is said to answer with spiritual drowning and the pull of the dead current.
tide sleep
meaning: a sacred deathlike sleep used for healing , prophecy , memory-walking , or communion with the sea-dragon’s will.
description: tide sleep is an ancient ritual in which the sleeper is placed within consecrated seawater so that body and spirit may drift into the memory of the ocean. it can bring visions, healing, ancestral communion, or divine revelation, but it is dangerous — some never wake, while others return changed or marked by the dead current. for yue, it is the rite that confirmed she was truly abyss chosen.
places a silver plate of fruit before yue. consider it an offering.
/ @ungreshen
yuè’s gaze lowered to the silver plate, lingering upon the fruit as though the gesture carried weight far beyond its simplicity. then her expression softened, one hand coming to rest lightly against the plate’s edge. ❝ then the sea receives it with gratitude, ❞ she murmured, pale eyes lifting to his. ❝ and so do i. ❞
with that, she plucked a piece of fruit from the plate and brought it delicately to her lips. as she ate, her other hand lifted to rest upon his head, bestowing a gentle, affectionate pat in quiet offering of her thanks.
i get so nervous when i write my replies , or just write in general. Its like.... i want to be descriptive but not tooo much. or even too little. Then i worry about sounding too cringey if that makes sense ????? It's like a spiral. don't mind me... i'm just rambling..... lol

I also have revamped and linked my active verses on my pinned , i have added , bleach , dc , marvel , genshin and honkai to the roster. more are to come as i go. MAIN ; THE TIDE REMEMBERED. Yuè is the last awakened daughter of the lóng lineage , a sacred bloodline descended from the primordial sea-dragon áo rèn. named as both tide healer and abyss chosen , she leaves the safety of her ancestral sanctuaries to search for her missing parents and stop the dead current before it swallows the living seas.
CANON SECONDARY ; THE SOVEREIGN OF THE PEARLESCENT TIDES. after the dead current is defeated and both of her parents are restored , Yuè fully awakens into her draconic divinity and ascends as the sacred ruler of the pearlescent tides. revered under the name áo zhēnzhū , she governs calm seas , restored reef sanctuaries , and the renewal that follows ruin. with the waters finally stilled , she turns toward the mainland in search of alliances , determined to build bonds strong enough that the sea will never again be left to suffer in silence.
ALTERNATE / DIETY AU ; THE TIDE BENEATH COVENANT. Yuè is a contracted sea deity bound by ancient oath to a coastal temple and the hereditary house sworn to maintain her rites. she blesses the waters with healing , protection , and calm seas in exchange for prayer , offerings , and faithful devotion , though generations of stewards have come dangerously close to mistaking guardianship for ownership. when the covenant begins to fray and corruption enters the tide , she must decide whether she will continue to serve as their divine protector or remind them that a god was never theirs to claim.
MODERN ; THE QUIET CURRENT. Yuè is the heiress to a powerful coastal family whose legacy is bound to the sea through old wealth , private rites , and carefully guarded tradition. though she moves through elite spaces with elegance and restraint , she is far more interested in shorelines , archives , and quiet freedom than the role prepared for her. beneath the polished image of an heiress , she remains deeply tied to the sea and everything it remembers.
MODERN AU ; THE PEARL-BORN HEIRESS. as the beloved daughter and sole heiress of an old coastal dynasty , raised between luxury estates , private schools , and carefully maintained family traditions. in this verse , both of her parents are alive , and the weight placed on her is one of inheritance rather than loss. she navigates a life of refinement , expectation , and social prestige while quietly resisting becoming nothing more than a beautiful extension of her family’s name.
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS ; THE TIDE REMEMBERED. Yuè is an ancient sea-priestess descended from a forgotten dragon lineage revered in old eastern rites as a sacred power of tide , storm , healing , and abyssal depth. she travels beyond her hidden shoreline temples to investigate the dead current , a corruption twisting reefs , swallowing ships , and poisoning coastal waters.
BLEACH ; DRAGON BENEATH THE VEIL. as a primordial sea-dragon spirit whose temple exists in a distant realm touched by memory , tide , and wandering souls. her waters gather spiritual residue , drawing shinigami , hollows , and lost beings alike toward her sacred domain. though serene and ritual-bound in bearing , her presence carries enough pressure to make the weak feel as though they are already drowning.
FINAL FANTASY XVI ; THE TIDE THE REALM FORGOT. the last living heir of the ancient house of áo , a reclusive coastal bloodline that preserves the forbidden truth that áo rèn is an old and sacred name for leviathan the lost. raised in tide rites , aetheric healing , and the disciplines of the deep , she becomes the dominant of leviathan as the dead current begins poisoning valisthea’s waters. refusing the elders’ efforts to contain her through political marriage , she travels blighted shores and ruined tide temples in search of her vanished parents and the truth sleeping in her blood.
INUYASHA ; THE WANDERING DAUGHTER OF THE EASTERN TIDE. Yuè is the last awakened daughter of an ancient sea-bound bloodline descended from áo rèn , a dragon deity of the eastern waters. rather than remaining only within hidden shrines and sacred coves , she wanders the mainland out of curiosity for mortal life , offering blessings , healing , and protection to villages wherever the sea’s influence reaches. regarded by some as a holy woman and by others as an omen , she moves between humans , yōkai , and sacred waters with quiet grace and dangerous divinity.
MARVEL VERSE — NACRE SAINT. an ageless mutant or divine-blooded healer whose abilities allow her to command water, withstand crushing oceanic pressure, and sense emotional or spiritual corruption. Though often mistaken for a goddess, she avoids public reverence and instead moves quietly among heroes as a healer and protector. Her calm response to violence often reveals just how familiar she has become with surviving it.
DC VERSE — MOON-TIDE ORACLE. a sea-born mystic associated with ancient dragon magic and the forgotten gods beneath Earth’s oceans. She serves as an occasional ally to heroes, particularly when disturbances threaten the boundaries between spirit realms and the mortal sea. Her temple exists outside conventional geography and can only be reached when the tides permit passage.
GENSHIN IMPACT VERSE — DAUGHTER OF THE ABYSSAL SEA. as an illuminated sea-dragon adeptus whose lineage predates many of Teyvat’s present nations. She wanders the coastlines investigating disturbances connected to the Abyss, ley lines, and the memories preserved within water. Though she avoids divine titles, fishermen and coastal villages leave offerings in her name.
HONKAI: STAR RAIL VERSE — THE DROWNED CONSTELLATION. As a long-lived draconic being who travels aboard the Astral Express or alongside it after the destruction of her oceanic homeworld. Her powers manifest through stellar tides, restorative mist, and the ability to navigate unstable spatial currents. She searches the universe for traces of her lost people and the force responsible for corrupting their seas.
FATE VERSE — CASTER / DRAGON OF THE PEARL MOON. Summoned as a Caster or Ruler-class Servant, Yue is remembered as a divine sea-dragon priestess who sacrificed her freedom to preserve the balance of the oceans. Her Noble Phantasm manifests a celestial sea beneath a moonless sky, cleansing allies while crushing enemies beneath abyssal pressure. She possesses no desire for the Holy Grail beyond ensuring it cannot poison the world around it.
CROSSOVER / MULTIVERSE ; WHERE ALL TIDES MEET. Yuè’s temple exists between worlds , appearing wherever spiritual waters have been disturbed or forgotten. this verse allows her to move between settings while preserving the core of her lore : healer , dragon-blooded priestess , and reluctant oracle of the deep. she most often appears as guide , protector , or quiet witness to those carrying burdens too heavy to name.
