Old picture of a modern style APCO oil service station, circa 1970s. Photo from "A history of APCO Oil Corporation and its predecessor company, Anderson-Prichard Oil Corporation", researched and compiled by Neale Boyd and edited by Bill Kelder, published in 1977 by the APCO Oil Corporation
This gas station was called the "Ranch-Style" building with a canopy extending over the pumps, shading customers from sun and rain as the fuel was pumped. The Ranch-Style station came with the small building with an extended enclosure, which the company intended to be used for auto repairs.
This style of franchise architecture for gas stations continues in-use today in many areas, and in many variations used by other companies.
