Just, look at how beautiful he is! 🥺
The first look vs the last look
THE TIGER dipped his scarred muzzle to the DUSTY ground, the golden hue of his remaining eye glinting in the unforgiving light of the sun. Ears flattened against striped orange fur, the SAVAGE beast’s foul mood plummeting even further ------- despair giving way to ANGER as an orange paw swiped against unyielding stone.
He had lost the scent. The trail was COLD, and his prey was, for now, safe.
IRRITATION coloured the beast’s movements as he prowled back towards the cover of the jungle. In truth, the striped cat had not been particularly hungry, his interest in the buck had been intended to be a simple test of his own strength. Though the jungle law --- that archaic, POINTLESS system --- forbid hunting for pleasure’s sake, especially during the DRY SEASON, Shere Khan saw little to be ashamed about in his actions.
What difference did it make if he devoured the kill or not? Was it some tragedy that the jackals and vultures should have to learn to open a carcass by themselves, rather than profit further off of his own effort?
Not that it particularly matter in this case, the buck had escaped his grasp this time; leaving the massive tiger winded and weary. He loped into the canopy, moving until he came upon a suitably shaded area --- free of the tell-tale chatter of monkeys waiting in the trees. And there he allowed himself to lie, collapsing heavily on his side, entirely at ease, and closing his eyes to dose: as if he were some pampered sultan’s pet --- safe in some lavish palace --- and not SHERE KHAN, who has enemies everywhere and no allies to aid him.
An eagle sounded above, coming in from the tops of the trees, and landing on the shoulder of it's master. Wide eyes had been staring down at the creature that just decided to lay itself down below, and he tried not to make any kind of noise. Though, his eagle companion decided it for him, and continued to peck lightly at his head, demanding a kind of reward for returning. Leaves and small branches fell down as he tried to keep his balance, and to not make anymore noises.
Of course a particularly harder peck from the other, had smacked him in his skull, and his annoyed cry filled in the silence of the forest. He flung his arm out, in hopes to get the bird to go off and just meet him at a later time. The motion of doing so had him actually fumble, and some damp part of the branch had a slipping effect, to which he fell off the side not a few seconds later. "No!!" A small yelp leaving him, attempting to grab for the branch again, but missing badly. He ended up landing with a hard thud to the leafy ground below. It was maybe about fifteen feet or so high, nothing too serious for him, but enough to have him winded just a bit.
Now, he was worried about the much larger problem, and quickly made to grab for his weapon, startled beyond belief he had just been so careless. Never had he seen a creature like this before, and for it to be so massive was more apparent at this short distance. The travel from his home and to here, a place beyond the scope of his clan, and all in the hopes of discovering something new. He'd not expect to see anything like this! Not a bear!

raintomorrows asked: Throws a leaf at him because she's bored. From Mae.
"Hey! What was... that for?"
Glittering eyes locked with hers, and he was amused by her actions, but of course was going to pretend to not be. They had been traveling for hours, days even, and a little rest was needed now. He had been looking through his little pouch as she did that, and huffed with that little bout of annoyance as he resumed to search for whatever he was looking for in it.
Clearly, she was to test his patience, but he could go for a hit right back, and blatantly try to ignore. So many things were on his mind, and he didn't have time for silly games. Noa was grateful that they even had a moment like this to rest, to think on what the next plan of action would be.

laughing at Proximus’s goofy looking face here so I drew it

There hadn't been many problems, since rebuilding their clan. The seasonal rituals of those needing to bond with their eagle were still ongoing, and teachings given to the young. Noa was always learning, and especially now that he was the leader. He struggled day and night to make sure all was perfect, and fine. Yet, inside he was not okay. His dreams were plagued with thoughts of what he could've done differently. Of the lives that could have been saved, and his father's.
If only he were stronger, maybe. If only he had stood up to Proximus, instead of listening to what the other had said, instead of nearly giving up. These were the kind of thoughts that would wake him, and he'd go out to the forest to try and clear his head, humming quietly the tune of their clan. Noa paused to rest at the trunk of a massive tree, and try to just not think, his mind racing with thoughts of uncertainty. He did not know if the fall had taken Proximus, and that is what haunted him.

There hadn't been enough problems for him to deal with, as being the new leader of his clan always more did issues come about. Tonight was no exception as he found out more of their supplies had been destroyed, and the only clues as to what it may be left him so bewildered. There were prints, just barely visible, of massive size in the dirt. They led deep into the forest, past the river and waterfalls, and he alone decided to go figure out what this could be.
As far as he knew, their shape was so vastly different to a deer, or even a bear. It was new to him, and Noa was determined to follow the remnants of a trail left behind; some pieces of torn fish, scraps of a hurried meal. Fresh. He was close to wherever this creature was, and held tight onto his weapon, not yet wanting to turn it's electric power on, for fear of scaring away his elusive creature.

Can I trust you?...
