Our new series Ordinary Women doesn’t start until September, but over the next few days we’ll share some other great projects focusing on women in history. For starters, check out Rad American Women A-Z, a beautifully illustrated book about amazing women who have left their mark on American history and culture. “There are artists and abolitionists, scientists and suffragettes, rock stars and rabble-rousers, and agents of change of all kinds.”

Who Me? Yes Me!
Coding House this one goes to you! Why choose me? Its simple! Women deserve to have the same chance and opportunity as their counterparts. This topic is taboo and uncomfortable among men and be able to change this culture will act as a catalyst to change the ratio. In fact, just the question itself asks, “why should you change the ratio?,” has made it apparent that women are highly underrepresented in this field and should raise the next question, “What can we do to change this?” Coding House definitely has and it shows! Our voices can make it major, they just have to be found in order to be heard.
The long lasting benefits from Coding House that i will create and share:
(1) Bring conversations surrounding coding to communities that are not easily permeable (2) Create spaces where women feel safe to thrive and not feel the constant bias put towards their intellect (3) Stabilize this Latina woman to share her story of how she was able to thrive where she is meant to fail.
Thank you for this opportunity. I understand there are many top-notch women to select from so thank you for giving us a chance! This was a fun filled challenge and a definite learning process.

15 Cartes Postales de…, edited and compiled by Guy Schraenen in 1974, provides a fascinating glimpse into the alternative artists’ networks of the 1970s. Schraenen asked fifteen painters and poets, with whom he had previously worked, to design postcards for the series. The set was meant to provide visibility for lesser-known and known artists, side-by-side.
Participants include (in order of appearance): Lourdes Castro, Eduard Bal, Rene Bertholo, Hugo de Clercq, Bram Bogart, Henri Chopin, Antoine de Bary, Francoise Janicot, Brion Gysin, Degottex. Not pictured: Jo Delahaut, Henri Gabriel, Rene Guiette, Bernard Heidseick, Gilbert Decock.

After staring at a screen all day, this is relaxing.
The thing about programming is that occasionally you get to break away from implementing business logic and user interfaces and instead spend time working out an algorithm to solve a problem, and that’s when you remember why you loved programming in the first place.
