You think Hima never gave any attention to the immortality of his characters but then you stumble upon that weird fact in which humans can turn mad after spending a lot of time with nations.

Which obviously complicates things a little bit if you want nations and humans to interact.

My theory would be that you might feel strange after a week of interacting with a nation 24/7. You probably lose the concept of time and what seems like some minutes turns out to be a whole day.

However, spending a day or two in their company should be fine. Sporadic interactions in which you switch between nations and humans might help in keeping track of time.

Nations are aware of their effect on people so they try to keep a distance while still being aproachable. However you can't trust them to keep track on time since their concept of it is distorted because of their immortality.

What if maybe a week isn't enough to notice/ make a difference?

What if it's needed a bigger amount of time... Like 5/ 10 years? You "can't" notice the passage of time with a week... But people should at least change with some years, and that wouldn't happen with nations.

I'm so curious about the anatomy of the nations... is this how a mad scientist feels?

Years sound interesting too. That actually would allow them to have more time to interact with others.

Telomeres ("tails" in our chromosomes) are usually pointed at when scientists talk about mortality and ageing and how we all have kind of a molecular clock of our time in this planet.

So sometimes I like to point out to the structure of their chromosomes when trying to point out a scientific reason on how they are able to live for so long.

However, it seems that fantastical creatures and events exist in the Hetalia-verse so maybe I'm just trying to fit scientific facts in a badly drawn anime.

However, if we're talking about regeneration (which its canon) I would also point out to animals that actually can regenerate. So there's biologic evidence for that. Who knows, maybe there's some amphibian powers in them (lol).

Immortality and regeneration are cool concepts though, and science actually has them as a serious objective for the future.
