Uncle Simon💓💓
Simon with a little girl just makes me lose my mind🥹
Ghoap
On a balcony of a cleared building after a false alarm. Everything’s dying down and the pair go out for fresh air, well Johnny goes out for air, Simon followed.
Soap: Ya know ghost, on the chopper ride here I remembered when I was a wee lad—16 or so—I dreamed of running off—my family’s great but… people were just too much for me back then, had the need to get away, see what I could in this life.
Ghost: Guess we have more in common then, Sargent.
Soap: Really? Gosh can’t even imagine you being…small. Bet yer mam…ah, sorry forget it’s a…sorry.
Ghost: I get it, harsh home life’s a foreign concept to someone who had a decent one… couldn’t imagine wanting to leave it..
Soap, jolting up a bit: Ah didn’t wanna leave! It was a dumb passing thought when things got too quiet—
Ghost: I’m not judging, Johnny. Finish what you started, you brought this up for a reason, get to it.
Soap: …well, when I would think about it I’d imagine what I’d pack, what I’d write in letters, fucks sake i imagined sleeping on the streets— it was harsh but in the dream it felt freeing and—and liberating, didn’t ave to do anything but survive.
Soap: I had the need to leave everyone behind, said to myself I’d come back someday and—I had such a romanticize delusion of what homelessness would be. It’s stupid.
Ghost: You ever get that feeling now?
Soap: …Honestly, Simon. Yes.
Ghost: Cause of anyone in particular?
Soap: Yes…
Ghost: cause of me…?
Soap: yes but I—
Ghost: Well then.
Simon’s lean on the railing rose to a proper stand with a slight grunt
Ghost tensely: I’ll get price to approve your vacation request within the week, and you can go off and be homeless by a bloody trash fire—
Soap: Simon I meant— god I know this is sappy but
With a reluctant groan he rubbed his face and stared at the floor as he confessed
Soap: I meant I think about you coming with me.
Soap: I meant…I think about us going off grid and building a cabin or whatever…fishing…just the necessities and us…I think about it a lot. Too bloody much., I imagine a life together and I know it’s the military then death for ya and I’m pretty sure it’ll be the same fer me cause it means I get to do this with ya. That’s sappy sorry I just—
Simon: I’ll get price to approve our time off request.
Johnny: …
Simon: It’s either killed in action or off grid with you. So over the weekend we could look for a decent placement for a hypothetical cabin.
Johnny: Sir are you trying to get proposed to?
Simon smiling: Not particularly but I wouldn’t mind.
The key to understanding Ghoap is that both of them are VERY fucked in the head and neither wants to change the other even in the slightest
A quick quiz: how would you rate my mood right now based on my art?
15 minutes speed painting.
Kyle makes the mistake of meeting up with Johnny in Scotland, in a very small pub that is packed to the brim with punters of all ages, whilst there's a football game on and Scotland is playing.
After several very loud declarations of, "Get it right roon ye."
The occasional, "Christ, the only baws he plays wae are hus ain."
And shots after every goal, Kyle's both drunk and delighted to be included in the celebrations when Scotland wins the match, everyone inside seems willing to talk to the strangers around them about the match. He even gets a "Yer no bad fir a wee Englishman" from an older gentleman who buys him and Johnny a pint when he clocks them as military.
Later, Kyle will forever treasure a blurry video on his phone of himself, Johnny, and the countless faces of people he'll never meet again, roaring along to 500 Miles, all various stages of drunk and red in the face. It should be embarrassing, clinging to a stranger's shoulder and belting out tunes while slightly off tune, but Kyle will always remember the smile on Johnny's face and the light in his eyes.
He thinks a lot about the way Johnny's hands stilled on his own as the man passed over a cigarette outside, the way he hooked a finger around Kyle's pinkie just to keep contact between them.
He wonders how they fit a man with so much to him in such a small urn.
Old and retired og pricesoap but Price falls prey to Alzheimer’s and he is in Soap’s care. Price often forgets who Soap is so he has to point out their wedding bands as proof of them being husbands. Price always stares in disbelief, having a hard time imagining himself brave enough to be married to a man. His younger self used to struggle a lot with sexuality.
When the name John MacTavish doesn’t ring a bell, the Scot hopes that the name Soap might help joggle the old man’s memory. Price huffs. “Soap? What kind of name is Soap anyways?” The answer brings tears to Soap's eyes. Maybe the man before him hasn’t actually changed much.
The daughter they have adopted together visits often and tries to help in any way. But Soap hates to burden her youth by caring for old people.
But it’s all worth it for the small moments of clarity. “I will always remember you… No matter how many times I forget. I love you.” Price says. “The moment I won’t be able to do so, put me down. That’s not me anymore, love.”
As the disease progresses, dementia sets in and the tantrums become more frequent, to the point that it breaks Soap’s spirit. They had a good thing. Thirty happy years after the end of the war together. But there is not much to do now. Price always hated feeling helpless. His doctors approve the use of assisted suicide.
The moment I won’t be able to remember you, put me down. That’s not me anymore, love.
"Look up the word idiot in the dictionary and you know what you'll find?"
It's not the first time Johnny regrets testing Price's patience. He had caught sight of the captain's last nerve and decided to cha cha across it, rather clumsily.
"Me?"
Being raised by a Scottish mother left him with good reflexes, it's the only reason he's able to duck before Price can cuff him over the back of the head.
"No. The definition of the word idiot, which you fucking are."
It only took me like 4 BUSINESS YEARS to finish this
Soap: I’m drunk, can you come pick us up
Ghost: Us?
Soap: I adopted a Gaz
Ghost: … you mean, Kyle? Your friend??
Soap: He’s purring.
Soap: So pretty
Ghost: Are you flirting with me?
Soap: Yes
Ghost: Don’t ever do that again
*Soap leaves*
Price: Ghost-
Ghost: I need him so bad
Knowing me, my dumbass is gonna make this a hurt/comfort.
Part 1
哼哼…喜欢看你们两个大男孩腻歪在一起
i soooo want to write roach as a haunting staticky voice that randomly spews advice that saves taskforce 141 + their associates. and having him mix up the timelines so he’ll murmur something like “good job captain” when soap takes out a guy
or panicking and losing his voice in the static when gaz specifically is pinned down. roach’s voice goes in and out as he says, “i don’t know—i don’t know you. i don’t know how to help you.”
the first time roach talks to soap, his voice is garbled but soap can just barely make out the words, “i knew you survived, captain. i heard your voice at the end. i knew you survived.”
ghost is the first one to hear roach and roach talks to him the most often, even if ghost doesn’t reply. sometimes roach doesn’t even mean to talk to him, sometimes it’s just the sound of roach humming a song they used to listen to in the other timeline. sometimes it’s just a soft laugh.
