Nnedi Okorafor’s Binti trilogy
There will be a Binti omnibus (published by @dawbooks, the publisher of WHO FEARS DEATH). And it will include a brand new Binti story called, “Sacred Fire”.
The eponymous Binti is the first of her people ever to be offered a place at Oomza University, the finest institution of higher learning in the galaxy. But to accept the offer will mean giving up her place in her family to travel between the stars among strangers who do not share her ways or respect her customs. Oomza has previously wronged the Meduse, an alien race that has become the stuff of nightmares, and Binti’s interplanetary travel will bring her within their deadly reach.
If she hopes to survive the legacy of this ancient conflict, she will need both the the gifts of her people and the wisdom enshrined within the University, itself - but first she has to make it there, alive.”

Savers is about a guy whose father disappeared, a boy who lost his mother and was forced to excel in order to be accepted by his father, who conceived him out of wedlock’s, rich and traditional family, a girl who lost her self esteem due to her family’s high expectations, and a young boy who grew up an outsider and lost his parental figures and identity all at a formative age.
This is a beautiful post but I just wanted to say the theme he’s talking about is very much present in Savers too.

It occurs to me that there are people who weren’t on this website in 2012 and therefore never saw the magical gif that you can actually hear:
It’s been over five years and that still impresses the hell out of me.

haul from last month. RIP my wallet, but at least there aren’t really any other books coming out this year that i’m planning on getting aside from the jack kirby fourth world omnibus. been waitin for hellboy in hell and the grayson omni for a long time. took a chance on justice league international which i’ve never read before, so hopefully it’s good. side note: i really dig the design of these new jack kirby TPB collections, the demon and mr miracle books both look great.
