Feeling inspired... Might put off writing and think about it the whole time
YOU'RE A REGULAR WRITER! YOU CAN CRAFT A COMPLETE SENTENCE! YOU'RE A REGULAR WRITER! YOU USE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF COMMAS! YOU'RE A REGULAR WRITER! YOUR PROSE IS GOOD AND RIGHT! YOU'RE A REGULAR WRITER! EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS YOUR VISION!
what they don't tell you about writing is that you're gonna spend way more time moving those guys across a room than you ever thought you would
your words don't always need to be pretty for you to be called a writer. they just have to be yours <3
Realizing the writing doesn't have to be done alone and is often more fun and more engaging when you're doing it with friends is a life changing experience.
I don't mean co-writing either. I mean having a friend or two who you talk through plot ideas with, who you bounce ideas off of, who you trust to tell you if something doesn't work.
Nothing is created in a vacuum and nothing can be created alone. Sharing drafts and ideas is a vital part of the creative process and it's a really fun part too.
writing goals for 2026 ✨
to write
More male characters who are interested in their mother's legacy. As a trope there's a lot of sons and daughters who follow in the father's footsteps and there's yes, girls who honor their mother, ect. But let's have more dudes who are like. Stumbling on their mom's secret fairy cottage or some shit. And they're like aight gotta make the tea
writing tip they don’t tell you is that in addition to reading good books you should occasionally read one really bad one so that it inspires you to write something better out of pure rage
One of my goals for 2026 is to get back into more consistent writing habits which means starting with rereading previous drafts to remember where I left off..
personal writing rules recently
write what you feel
dont force what you dont feel
if you have an urge to write something, never deny yourself for any reason

This from In Writing, a collection of writers reflecting on practice, really resonated with me.
people talk about their writer friends stealing their weird habits or borrowing backstories but what you don't know is that we will steal your house. layout location garden colour scheme décor the whole lot. i have childhood friends with entire abodes immortalised in my stories. i have people i met once who would be able to recognise ancient six-month lease domiciles from a decade and a half ago. i'm in your house i'm in your blueprints and i am taking the lot.

the best thing about reading more is that it makes me want to write again. unfortunately the worst thing about reading more is that it makes me want to write again.
actually [unwritten project] is my greatest accomplishment in life
