so does anyone legit READ my longwinded character bios. because i'll be honest, they're very draining to make and i'm not even sure if people check them out.
(i could switch to a different carrd that just lists names with a short description, and encourage people to engage with a character if they want to learn more about them.... 🤔)
new arceus, xerneas, and giratina lore changes for note taking (*always* subject to tweaking, i'm mainly rambling half-thought through ideas):
xerneas by all accounts has just as much power as arceus does, since it was born directly from arceus' blood due to giratina lashing out. arecus doesn't think life as it is shouldn't exist since it didn't willingly create it, xerneas' undying love for its own keeps all life safe. the lake guardians were originally meant to be countermeasures to dialga and palkia, xerneas bestowed upon them the three aspects of spirit that would manifest in its children past and to be born - while also allowing them to escape arceus' direct control.
arceus can't erase xerneas, so it created yveltal - introducing the existence of death and decay - as an attempt to counter xerneas's power. xerneas and yvetal clashing is what lead to zygarde's creation and a self-feeding cycle of destruction and rebirth. arceus malds for eons over not being able to get rid of xerneas and everything tied to it.
arceus didn't create giratina - they both came into existence at the same time more or less as two halves; a powerful light casting a deep shadow. arceus's domain hosts time & space we're familiar with, giratina's is the reflection. both sides are necessary for reality's stability, yet instead of arceus and giratina uniting in harmony, conflict and violence prevailed.
giratina inadvertently creating xerneas, and thusly being the reason why life as we know it to exist, caused its bitterness to grow and its desire to overtake arceus to form. both still care about maintaining balance (or their own perspectives on what balance is) regardless, however twisted giratina is in taking out its anger over what it can't have on life across the cosmos. while it will harass and traumatize select humans and pokemon for fun, it will never do anything to offset the balance of things & will warn or punish those who do so (see: veilstone's myth and cyrus).
i was thinking of giratina having been the one to create yveltal, but i like the giratina = darkness & life vs arceus = light & death contrast 🤔
the ancient hero of hisui sought to meet arceus with his 10 pokemon companions out of awe and wonder. he was the first human to ever meet with the god. exposed to the shocking amount of anger & disgust the original one had towards life it itself did not create, he and his pokemon battled it to prove the worthiness of their lives and all others that existed on earth. arceus's was effectively humbled and went into relative dormancy, believing that maybe xerneas's children weren't so pointless after all.
uhhh fae lore stuff, in relation to valerie especially and vera to a much smaller degree. obviously needs a big overhaul. i'm still keeping it to where the fae were some the first lifeforms to exist on earth, mutated by xerneas's aura among the "populace" to gain mystic-related powers, but everyting else i'm undecided on.
maybe as fae and humans separated, the fae were the first to properly connect with pokemon and establish bonds with them - further highlighting them as some kind of monstrous beings in the eyes of humans since pokemon terrified them. the pokemon joining with fae became known as fairy pokemon, gaining mimicries of their magical abilities. |
as time passed and societies rose, fae became discriminated against by humans and were forced to flee into a different dimension, in which all traces of them were wiped from earth's history so people today believe that humans and pokemon were the only ones to ever exist. fairy pokemon however are still around due to descendants of the first fairies scattering across the world, and while societies globally have forgotten WHY fairy pokemon were greatly disliked, many people to this day still harbor feelings of distrust and fear towards them; especially those in more superstitious cultures.
...idk. this one needs some heavy review, tho i won't think TOO hard on it since valerie is still the only fae on my roster. for now.
Hi! Following from my main, but I have RPC sideblogs at @reunioncape and @achampionswings if you're interested!
hey bench! i remember you from my pokeirl accounts 😄
i'd love to rp with you, but i am gonna be moving accounts soon-ish so i'll be refollowing you again on the new blog down the line, just to let you know in advance 👍🏾
yeah i'll post these here too. shitposts: alyssumiris edition
amazedragon on yt makes such cool pokemon theory content. i don't directly subscribe to their takes one-to-one but they're inspirational; makes me think. their video on cresselia & darkrai being byproducts of the original dragon's separation really got the gears turning, because the franchise has had a strong focus on the power of dreams and wishes for a long time 👀
Yeeeeah I'll be moving accounts soon-ish and switching to high selectivity. Probably after I actually finish my carrd 100%. But work has been annoying like usual, I recently got hella muse back for a fanfic passion project, and kirby air riders drops on thursday sooo Idk WHEN I'll make the move. But I have made up my mind and will do it.
I'll follow back everyone I have threads with right now (which will be carried over onto the new acc), or who I've plotted with at length in DMs because I don't want to leave y'all hanging. Otherwise? Big "hmm". I will pick and choose at my quiet discretion.
Is it bad I genuinely want to make Giratina a muse here.... Specifically MY version of Giratina. A genuine hell spawn that is inherently malicious to all forms of life, but is still necessary for reality itself staying together so there's nothing that can be done about it.
That face you see in your window watching you at night sometimes just exists. It wants you dead. But you have to put up with it, sorry.
Jacinthe: Fairy in the Details
The rotophone used in her promotion match is the regular red case version. This implies it’s probably not hers, as most other high ranked trainers have a custom phonecase color. Given the fact she often gives menial tasks to Lebanne, the phone might be hers and she manages the Z-A Royale app for Jacinthe.
When she appears in the strategy meeting uninvited, she has her own cup of tea with a floral teacup. Based on the color of this tea compared to the colors of all the available teas in game it’s either Clamperl Grey Tea or Galarian Breakfast Tea. (Many teas in game have the same output color, but these are the only two that match).
The Jacinthe Zone (in addition to being purple) seems to have alterations that allow it to prevent anyone from leaving, effectively locking people or Pokemon inside until the zone is deactivated. The zone also is managed by doing a heart symbol and saying Jacinthe Zone On or Off. This seems to play on the concept of fairy circles in folklore, which once entered cannot be left without permission of the fairies or without dire consequences. In folklore, these circles form when a group of fairies dance, which parallels the need to do a heart pose for the zone to trigger or disperse.
Speaking of fairy lore, it is interesting that Jacinthe wears her jewelry over her gloves and has apparently insisted on Lebanne removing her piercings. This parallels the folklore belief that fairies cannot touch or be touched by iron/metals without it burning them.
Another fairy-like trait seems to be the matter of always keeping your deals/promises/wagers to them. Obviously there’s Lebanne’s wager that if she lost she’d become Jacinthe’s maid, but this also is apparent when it comes to Jacinthe trying to get her perfect tournament going. She outright traps the other trainers in the hotel ballroom until she manages to wrangle your player character and Taunie/Urbain into coming and participating. And she basically keeps popping up and reminding the player about her tournament during this time period. As Lebanne warns us, you should take promises to Jacinthe seriously or there could be dire consequences (which is very very fae).
Jacinthe, like many fairy trainers before her, comes across a bit odd compared to the rest. While Valerie dreamed of becoming a Pokemon and Opal was nicknamed the Wizard due to her ability to predict moves, Jacinthe has the uncanny ability to show up when you least expect it. This includes sneaking into a strategy meeting at Hotel Z without anyone noticing right away. This parallels the fairy glamour ability, where a fae can alter the perception of what people see and acknowledge, allowing her to be seated there for quite some time before the others realize they have company.
Based on her team of Pokemon and her affection for both Pokemon and battling, I suspect Jacinthe may have been born/grown up in Kiloude City. That city in XY was home to the Battle Mansion and Friend Safari. Of her team of 6, four were available in Friend Safari (Clefairy, Kirlia, Eevee, Mawile). The Battle Mansion could’ve also inspired her own tournament format.

Another big critique I have of ZA. We never get to put our Key Stones in cool, personal accessories like all of the NPCs do. I was honestly looking forward to that being a potential feature 😭
Why do we have to be stuck with these big ass, ugly bracelets.....
I had a bad falling out with my mom the day before ZA released. She decided to stick her neck out and demand I respond to my grandma's messages - I've been ignoring them - and I confronted her about TLDR how I know the both of them don't value my life and frankly never have. Not in the way they should've. So now, I'm not on speaking terms with her and I'm not sure if I ever will be again.
Considering the both of them have been very abusive ever since I was a kid, and my mom stole 1,000$ from me too, perhaps that's not a bad thing. I know she was and likely still is grieving over my dog, she loved Marley a lot too and I was so torn up over the idea of she thinking I "abandoned" her, but I just cannot allow myself to fall back into their toxicity pit. Their bs, and the insane amount of generational trauma frankly, is not my own to take on.
But why do I bring this up? To project onto Alysa's relationship with her mom of course.
—
New aspect of Alysa's story is that she got all 8 gym badges of Kalos and was set to head to the Pokemon League, but Marianna and Élie stopped her from doing it via setting far too high expectations on her shoulders. They said Kalos's current champion at that time, Diantha, was the epitome of what a champion of the region should be: perpetually beautiful and outstandingly strong. They told Alysa directly that she didn't compare at her young & naive age; she wasn't the type of person who would be a good champion. They basically manipulated her into feeling too insecure to take the leap, like she didn't deserve to BE champion so why even try. The source of all of that nonsense was Marianna, with Élie half-heartedly backing it.
I'ma keep it real. I'm mulling over whether I should move this blog again, just so I can cleanse my following count & be extremely selective with who I follow from that point onwards. Basically curate my dashboard in a more meticulous way. Y'all already know my feelings about this rpc so I won't beat the dead Rapidash, and I don't mean any personal offense to the mutuals I may not refollow, but it might be time for me to make more "aggressive" moves to get the vibes feeling right around here again.
I haven't made up my mind, but. Just saying.
Very softened by the idea of when Alysa goes to Lysandre Labs, she finds a file that lists all of the names of the Flare members that went on the Yveltal mission, and sees her father's (Élie du Pont) on there. Way later when Grisham mentions that most of those who went on that mission were killed, Alysa remembers she hasn't seen or heard from Élie in years ever since he came back to Kalos after he and her mother divorced and things click. She breaks down in tears but to her surprise, Griselle and Grisham comfort her.
Élie wasn't that much of a good man, and especially was not a good father. But that was still her papa, and he's been gone all this time without she having known - nor having gotten the chance to say a proper goodbye.
(After ZA's events, she does grow to genuinely care for the Gris duo. They're some of her favorite people, and she does miss them when she goes back to BBA with Drayton; along with all of her new friends.)
