Michael Reeder’s “DEADRINGER” at Hashimoto Contemporary NYC.
Opening on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at Hashimoto Contemporary at their New York City location is artist Michael Reeder’s solo exhibition, “DEADRINGER.”
Through the use of bold saturated color and graphic geometric patterns blended with figurative elements, Reeder’s work delves into the concept of self, and the innate human desire to be an authentic entity. Skulls and hands are prevalent in the artists work, calling attention to both internal and external physical elements that connect us all as humans. As we strive for uniqueness, we are bound together through our humanity, highlighting the fact that we are ultimately the same.
About the exhibition, Reeder states, “I wanted to focus on how similar we as humans are regardless of our external differences and how desperately we attempt to stand apart in society. We are all composed of distinct experiences, backgrounds, cultures, fashion styles, careers, etc., yet it is all individually mashed up into a dead ringer, almost carbon copied vessel - the human body. This concept is the underlying premise of DEADRINGER.”
The exhibition will be on view until December 22nd, 2018.

friends deep lore: the reason chandler is so bad at generally existing in the 90s/early 2000s is he actually died in 1843 of lead poisoning and now he’s been reanimated by dark wizard ross (a homophobe) and the only way to break free of his curse of living undead is to find love. luckily he shares a flat with friendly modern man joey who teaches him the ways of the world and maybe, just maybe, he also teaches him the meaning of love. 200k, slowburn, fisting

Greek Ornament in The Coloured Ornament of All Historical Styles
Today we are featuring Greek decorative plates from The Coloured Ornament of All Historical Styles, Part I: Antiquity by Alexander Speltz, published in Leipzig, Germany in 1915 by Baumgärtner. The multi volume portfolio was produced with three color and four color printing based on Speltz’s original watercolor paintings.
In a preface to the Part I, Spetz wrote:
“In accomplishing this work special attention has been paid to the possibility of easily finding the text belonging to each figure, and to a classification according to the chronology of art history and archeology, for this work is not merely intended to be a standard for the polychromatic ornament, but also a resource for the study of history of art and archaeology.
If this work, whose first part herewith published and whose further parts Medieval Period, Renaissance, and Rococo Style, Classicism will follow as soon as possible, contributes to revive that sense of colours lost in this our prosaic time and helps to restore to our generation that delightful rejoicing in beautiful forms and colours, the writer’s end has been achieved.”

Pyramid of Unas
“The sword of Orion opens the doors of the sky. Before the doors close again the gate to the path Over the fire, beneath the holy ones as they grow dark As a falcon flies as a falcon flies, may Unis rise into this fire Beneath the holy ones as they grow dark. They make a path for Unis, Unis takes the path, Unis becomes the falcon star, Sirius.”

"If they’d welcomed him with open arms, he could have decimated the entire tribe."
I’m glad this article highlights that if this man made it to shore and had extended contact with these people, he would have exposed them to diseases they’ve never seen before and potentially killed them all. There’s a reason it’s illegal to go there, and Jesus isn’t gonna protect them from chicken pox or the flu.
There’s a very particular eeriness that befalls ruins during the golden hour. I’m living for it.
