Race culture and gender
When one compares a Mary Shelley quote and a Brent staples essay, there are a few theories they may come up with as to how they are related. One that I believe myself is that Staples feels that he is his own monster. When he walks down the street he scares women just because of his appearance and he equates that quality with a monster within himself. The other part of the quote that relates is when Shelley says a miserable monster Staples feels that as well, he has been miserable because people judge him based off of what he looks like so he is usually alone.
In this video Rick Santorum explains how he feels about marriage. He states that just because something is wrong or sinful does not mean we should make it illegal. I agree with him 100 percent!
As a politician Rick Santorum needs to stay away from either extreme, accepting gay marriage or rejecting it, because it will narrow his potential voters. Throughout this interview by Piers Morgan, Santorum argues that, on a political level, gay marriage should not be restricted by the government. His audience are the voters that havent decided which candidate to vote for and he is trying to appeal to them as best as he can. I believe he tries using logic, an appeal to logos, to convince them he is right.
Sad story. We must do more to prevent this from happening. #bullying #gay #homophobia #suicide #lgbt #teenagers
This is a post aimed at homosexual youth. It shows a picture of a young boy, Jadin Bell, that was bullied for being gay. The story explains that he attempted suicide because he was not accepted for his sexual preference. It pleads to the audience to share Jadin's story in hopes of showing gay children that people love and accept them. This is an appeal to pathos, because anybody that has ever been bullied can relate to this boy and knows the harsh feelings that accompany it. The author of this post used pathos to make readers feel sympathetic to this boy and in turn feel sympathetic to gay people in general.
This is what happens when the gays get a hold of shit in the real world.
As a normal everyday kind of man-loving-man, I object.

“Men-ups” by Clickandclash on Flickr.
This is a anti-gay blog post that makes the basic assertion that gay people cant function in a real world. They show pictures of gay men in presumably "gay" poses surrounded by "manly" things to express their thought of how gays shouldnt be allowed to marry if they cant fit into the mold and do, what the world believes, manly things. The person that posted this was looking to reach the people that are undecided on this topic, to convince them that homosexuals are completely different, and therefore deserve a complete set of new rules. These pictures show insulting stereotypes for homosexuals, to show how rediculous the gay people are.
Are ALL people worth something?
I don't believe that handicapped people, mentally, physically or economically, in this world are "worth" as much as a regular healthy person. I do believe that everybody is supposed to help everybody, regardless if they are handicapped or not. Nevertheless, a handicapped person can't possibly help me as much as I help them and that is why I think they are "worth" less. A rusty wrench and new wrench are both wrenches but they have different worths.
Quote from Mao
Mao Tse-Tung's quote was meant to say that in order to have an influence in politics, the person must have the upper hand. When somebody controls the argument, they have complete influence on where that argument goes. I believe that Mao was referencing the importance of strength in politics, that politicians have to remember to assert themselves. "Out of the barrel of a gun" could also mean literally, where if the government holds all the power then the citizens have no say or freedoms. This is a quote that fuels the argument over big government or a small one.

The values of work and play can affect our lives. There comes a time in everybody's life where they need to start working. Some responsibilities you get from work are a work ethic, and pay along with many others. You learn to value play more after you have worked for it. On the other hand for play, you learn to be yourself and develop people skills easier. This can help you at any time in your life.
Work and Play
Just like when derek boogaard was working at fighting as he was playing hockey there are other times where work and play mesh together. Whenever you are doing something you love to do and are getting paid for it, technically it is both work and play. other examples would be when you are doing something you are good and it is for work, and when you are training for a sport that you play.
Butterchops
If i had an elf name it would be butterchops. just the name itself describes the true joy of christmas spirit. i mean who doesnt like chops of butter???
Dwellings
If i had to pick a place where animals live that relates to my life i would have to choose a cave. a cave takes years to develop and has new turns and discoveries around every corner just like my personality.
Angela's Ashes #5
The last and final part i divided this book into was the different places that Frank Mccourt lived in. Since his dad didnt have a steady job and drank all his wages, the Mccourt family ended up living in multiple homes. The fact that Frank never had a set home probably affected him because it is hard to get used to living in a way when you are constantly moving. In one home, near the end of the book, he even gets abused by the man who owns the house. On top of being abused he listens to his mother go up to the mans room and have sex with him. Being fed up with the abuse and disrespect he leaves and stays with his uncle and starts working to support himself. this is just one of the many conflicts he has with living at different homes, an other one is that to keep warm his family starts tearing apart a wall for fire wood and it ends up getting them kicked out of the house entirely.
Angela's Ashes #4
The next part i divided the book into is death. He is surrounded by death. When he first expiriences it is when he comes home to people looking at a ditch with a dog with blood in it's mouth. He then, throughout the book references back to this scene because this is when he first realizes the destruction. He goes through the pain again when his siblings start dying one by one. He sees what it does to his mother and he feels the hurt as well. It happens again when he is hospitalized for the typhoid fever. He meets a girl that will inevitably die, although he doesnt realize it until it happens. He gets really close to her but when she dies he doesnt react as harshly because it has happened before and he doesnt have the same connection as a family death does. The last time it is mentioned is when he takes it the hardest. He has a personal connection with this girl that lacked in the other deaths, he lost his virginity to her. He also feels that because of this he was responsible for her death and her being sent to hell. he grieves and mourns her death throughout the rest of the book.
Angela's Ashes #3
The third part i divided it into was his entire family relationships. Obviously because of his father and his mistakes he didnt have a very trusting relationship with the father figure. At times though Frank did have a good memory that he has with his father, like times when him and his mother would get along and sing in the kitchen and play with the children. His mother was the only parent that he had most of the time and even at that his mom wasnt always stable. throughout the book their family comes over death and starvation and after a while it starts to take a toll on his mother. His siblings were always there for him but since he was the eldest and his father was gone drinking, he had to be the "man of the house" and never got a chance to be a kid. Later in the book we meet his Aunt, She is a crabby lady that has no respect for children. Even though she is like this Frank's family ends up relying on her to support them.
Angela's Ashes #2
The second part i divided the book into was the fathers alcoholic habits. Throughout history Irishmen are known best for their drink. This holds true in the book as well. In the book they mention a tradition in which every man has his first pint at 16 years of age. The first pint turned into too many in his dads case. Because of this habit when he finally did get a job he would soon be fired. If he were lucky to keep the job until a pay check comes in most times his family would never benefit because he valued the drink over their needs to survive. Often when frank would go to bed it would be interrupted when his dad would come home stumbling accross the room and telling him and his brother to get up and pledge to die for Ireland if they ever got the chance. Even though he knew that his habits were affecting the way his sons lived and saw him he continued throughout the entire book to drink.
Angela's Ashes #1
I divided Angela's Ashes by Frank Mccourt in five seperate things. The first is pre birth. Before Frank was born as the eldest of his siblings, the family had their own troubles. Frank's dad came from northern Ireland, which gave him a bad reputation of being a heavy drinker and unresponsible which we find out later is very true. Nevertheless Angela, Franks mother, falls in love with him and they end up expecting. When the entire family of Angela finds out about this, they decide to force Malachy to marry their sister despite his greedy intentions. The couple are now finally married and are having their first child, Frank, the father still has a hard time finding a job to support them.
