When I”m assertive, I’m a bitch. When a man’s assertive, he’s a boss. He’s bossed up. No negative connotation behind being “bossed up,” but lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch. When you’re a girl, you have to be everything. You have to be dope at what you do but you have to be super sweet, and you have to be sexy, and you have to be this and you have to be that, and you have to be nice. All that stuff about what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger is so not true. Do you know what makes you stronger? When people treat you and your art with dignity. Feeling like you’re respected among the people who do the same thing you do is incredible and necessary.

There are sexual things that I do that aren’t for a man. I feel empowered sometimes by being sexy and being comfortable enough to be sexy on camera. A lot of women struggle with that. But there are some days that I don’t want anyone to see me. I’m just a regular girl. Some days I’m super strong; some days I’m super insecure.
