Kinda wish that Jesse and Karen had more interactions beyond having to interrogate Great Value Zachary Zatara, I mean King Chimera. I feel like they'd get shit done

Smart guy with green goggles vs smart guy(s/gender neutral) with green goggles. Spent ages trying to figure out a composition. Think I want to do another with the concept because I originally wanted to make them actually fight.
It would be so cool if they did a game in the style of the Arkham Games but with Doctor Mid-Nite. I think he/they'd fit it really well, since the goggles would really suit detective mode, and Charles is already a bit like Batman (unfortunately I do not have enough comics with him yet)
Psyop to get the Riddler fans into the JSA?
If you like John in HBO Lanterns and you're new to GL, here's important trivia:
John is a revolutionary character from his conception. The creators purposefully chose a surname that wouldn't be tied to slave owners because they didn't want to fall for the common trope of having a black character with Washington (example) as surname.
His design was also revolutionary and very much intentional. His creators fought to be allowed to give him a darker skin tone, because at the time black characters were mostly light skinned since they believed that would be more palatable to white audiences. This is why many black GL fans had/have issues with John's casting, since they think it's ignoring how purposeful his darker skin tone is and what it meant at the time of conception.
He wasn't in the military originally. His conception was meant to have him be the opposite of reigning stereotypes. That's why they purposefully made him an architect. The military origin was an invention of the animated Justice League series, that also completely ignores John's canon love interests and turns him into the opposite of what John was in the comics. The animated series is not a good representation.
He was never, and still isn't, deferential towards Hal Jordan. He always called him out on his bullshit, and during his first appearances this WAS revolutionary because it was one of the few times the white male character was depicted as truly in the wrong vs the black male character being the one who is genuinely correct.
He has never been Hal's trainee. He has always been an equal to Hal from the start.
If you're interested in what he's truly like, and not the weird version that he ended up being in the show, I suggest reading Cosmic Odyssey and Mosaic! Both are really fun comics to read đź’«

EXACTLY!!!!
POST IS TALKING ABOUT COLORISM IN THE INDUSTRY
I want to say this in the nicest and most constructive way possible, but I need more normies to get informed about Tom King's deal when discussing the DCU.
I just watched Jessie Gender's mini-essay video about how Lanterns casually mentioned Harry Potter and How Bad It Is To Normalize Rowling in this day and age. What makes the video a hard watch is that she starts the essay with uncritical glowing praise for Lanterns as a series. The irony of saying "think about how it affects trans people to see you uncritically mention Harry Potter in your show" without maybe... thinking about how it feels to be Arab and seeing someone celebrate a show headed by the guy who proudly planned the Iraq war.
I know it's probably because of ignorance that Jessie Gender doesn't know who Tom King is or his involvement as a consultant for the DCU (and straight up writer and co-creator for Lanterns). As hard as Gunn tries, Tom King is still not a household name outside of cape spaces. But he should be held to the same scrutiny Rowling culturally has. If not more. The video is titled "Harry Potter Has Become Corporate Propaganda". And yes, you shouldn't normalize Harry Potter as an extension of transphobic propaganda. But you shouldn't normalize an ex-CIA agent's thinly veiled superhero propaganda either.
I need white queers to recognize that your ignorance is the problem regardless of your intentions. Because whether you like it or not, it's giving "I can excuse imperialism, but I draw the line at transphobia"
Oh also you do have to read real books. Like you have to read the books. You can’t just read fanfic, those are not books. You can if you just want to write fanfic, but if you want to write books, you kinda gotta read books. No, posts do not count.
Blog with the url lick-my-penis currently on Day 5 of arguing about the superiority of fanfiction in the replies of this post. Day 5. What’s up with that.
