Monstrous by Jessica Lewis (YA)
oh! hello!! i tend toward SF-flavored horror, but here are some of my recent queer faves:
LEECH by Hiron Ennes (speculative! gothic! so fucked up! SO GOOD!)
WALKING PRACTICE by Dolki Min (aliens! eating people! loneliness!)
THE WOODS ALL BLACK by Lee Mandelo (historical horror! Appalachia!)
THE LUMINOUS DEAD by Caitlin Starling (SF! alien caves!)
OVERGROWTH by Mira Grant (SF! alien invasion!)
THE SCOURGE BETWEEN STARS by Ness Brown (SF! space! aliens!)
i see some people in the notes recommending Rivers Solomon and Mira Grant generally, which i'm also 100% behind. maybe check out Sarah Gailey, too? a lot of Gailey's work is thriller-bent, but some of it (JUST LIKE HOME) is more solidly horror, and both Gailey and Ennes have new work coming out this fall!
In The Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado is a really good memoir about the author's abusive relationship- framed as a haunted house/horror narrative.
