This? In particular? Pisses me off. I hate it.

I hate the implication that all porn is interchangeable and devoid of cultural value, so it’s no big deal when a decade’s worth of creative endeavor produced by a vibrant subculture is destroyed, because, whatever, it’s just dirty pictures.

I hate the disingenuous inability to see a distinction between a website that is about porn only, and a website that allows people to blog about all of their interests and aspects of their lives including sex and porn because those are normal parts of the human experience.

It’s the most tone-deaf bullshit.

In particular it was a huge loss because there aren’t a lot of websites where explicit LGBT+ art or photos can be shared safely and without ridicule. For me, the explicit art I make I consider to be erotica rather than porn– Not something to be used and thrown away but an expression of my own sexuality as a butch lesbian, something that when shared in all those other places was openly mocked by cishet men who dominate most 18+ spaces online. Nevermind how in the years since the nsfw ban art and photography has become “”“content”“”, further degrading art and expression into a consumable good.

Saying all explicit works are interchangeable is a disservice to all of the artists, models, photographers, sculptors, animators, and writers who used to share their works to this site. People who are LGBT+, plus size, disabled, of any race or ethnicity, who would express themselves creatively about sex on this site were scattered to the winds and left to try and express themselves in places where they were not welcome and not safe.
