I forgot about the way tumblr works now makes it really hard to get to a blog to actually see pages. So here's a Navigation post.

Pondering Lysandre in Paradise AU. Thinking about the hotel they're running. Thinking about the giant scar across his face from a Pyroar when he wandered outside the walls of Lumiose.
So more about this.
When Lysandre was younger, maybe 17 or so, he and Augustine decided to brave the world outside the walls of Lumiose. They'd always heard how dangerous it was. How dangerous pokemon were. It was summer, it was said that Pyroar were really close, so no one was supposed to leave the city in groups smaller than ten, and definitely not unarmed.
But, he and Augustine were young, stupid kids. They left together. Only the two of them, didn't tell anyone. They were just exploring the area around. Curious kids, you know? Well. A pride of Pyroar found them. And... They didn't know you're not supposed to run from Pyroar.
By the time anyone from the city got to them to help, Lysandre was on the ground in agony. He'd taken a Fire Fang to the face. It was instantly cauterized, at least. Augustine didn't get out much better, lost a leg to the pokemon in the chaos and confusion.
The scar across Lysandre's face is massive. Cutting into his hair line, digging deep into his skin. The only reason it didn't kill him, didn't pierce his skull, was that he tripped.

young az thoughts... they're rotating.
AZ had an arranged marriage when he was young. His wife was a Paldean princess. Subscribing to the headcanon that the region Kalos was at war with was Paldea, they were married to try to secure peace between the regions. It lasted... a while. However, divorce wasn't a thing back then, so she couldn't leave her husband when their regions went to war. She was stuck in Kalos fighting her home and family.
Lysandre's ancestor- AZ's younger brother- was also in an arranged marriage. In the time between Floette's death and AZ firing the ultimate weapon, his SIL arranged the marriage between him and a Galarian royal. He was in Galar when AZ fired the weapon, all of his children were born in a post-UW world. AZ never met any of his nieces or nephews.
Before that happened though, AZ had five children. Two sons, three daughters. His youngest, a son, was the only one who survived the war and the Ultimate Weapon, but he was only three. Far too young to take the throne, so his uncle served Kalos as regent until he was old enough.
Floette's flowers are rare, but the royal palace has dozens of them in the gardens. AZ's mother loved to cultivate them, so when a Flabebe took one to be hers on the day AZ was born, she saw it as a sign this pokemon was to be his partner.
He does not need pokemon to fight. Part of his tutoring as a prince including fencing and swordfighting, as well as hand to hand combat. He knows how to fight, though of course it's... Been a while. He and his brother used to spar constantly. With and without pokemon.
Old Kalosian is different enough to modern that it would take a minute or two to decipher what he just said if he spoke a full sentence, but not so different that it sounds like gibberish to a native Kalosian. Second language though? Good luck.
There is a very old tradition in the royal family that a pokemon who did something significant on the day of birth of a new royal baby was meant to be their partner. Hence his mother believing that Flabebe- later Floette- was meant to be his partner when she took one of the eternal flowers from the garden.
Those of royal blood also all have an Aegislash guardian. The pokemon is purposefully bred and hatched to imprint on the infant royal as a protector. They are then trained to the absolute pinnacle of the species. AZ's died protecting him during the firing of the Ultimate Weapon- trying to shield him from all that power shattered its shield.
He knows how to use modern technology. He was an unrivaled genius in his time, he has kept up with and knows how to use it. He just thinks its funny to pretend he doesn't.

How long has it even been? A few years? Okay, so. I'm sure no one really cares but hey. Life update.
Let's see. I moved. From the Bible Belt to the Midwest. An hour from Canada. Started working. First at a deli at a place only really in the Bible Belt, now overnights at the, uh. One of the biggest retailers in the country.
Don't live on a farm anymore. Still have my knowledge about life I'll apply to Milo and other farmer characters and pokemon. Lost all my pets, just have my mother's boyfriend's dog now. Trying to find a small pet for myself.
Gained an insane amount of F/Os over the last couple years. Corbeau amiright? Went to my first convention earlier this year, that was fun! Uh... yeah, I think that's it.

Oh man its been a while. We're due for a few updates and some posts, yeah. I'll give yall a life update once I get home from work. And a few headcanons about the ZA crew. Updates galore...
