Meet Leon’s familiar, Fish!
Time for Day 4 of @enbymagicianweek, Magician’s Best Friend!
Yes, Fish is a bird. More specifically, Fish is a female bearded vulture.
Her full name is Fiasharya, but she likes her nickname a lot! Leon gave it to her when he was young and she loves him, so it’s perfect!
Very tall, she stands at about 4ft tall (which is taller than Ravah) and has a wingspan of over 9ft
Like all bearded vultures, she eats bones, so finding food while on the road with the band is extremely easy for her
She met Leon when he was a child on the streets, and now sees him as her own baby
When he first unlocked his magic it sent a burst of energy into the world that she was able to pick up on and follow to the town he lived in. She mostly went because she was curious, but quickly took a liking to Leon and branded herself as his familiar
He doesn’t have any idea how scary she looks, and gets offended if others don’t like her, but in the same vein, understands that she is intimidating and will use her to his advantage when dealing with rude or mean people
Fish and Ravah do not get along, but she adores Alec!
She thinks Ravah is a stubborn, stuck-up old dog and he thinks she’s a reckless, air-headed chicken and they have said as such to each other
She likes to preen Leon, and occasionally Alec and Jamil. She’s tried to preen Camia before but ripped one of her favorite scarves so she’s not allowed to anymore
Unlike Ravah, she loves to be around people and she loves attention, frequently flying into cities with the band, though she’s not always allowed to stay in the same places they do
Surprisingly very affectionate, loves to have her chin scratched, and will let anyone (as long as Leon approves of them) pet her
When Leon was younger, she served as a channel for him to harness his magic, but now that it’s so strong she is more of a buffer or a “storage unit” of magic to help him keep control
She’s joined the band during a few fights on the road. There aren’t many things scarier than seeing a flash of red and sharp talons dive-bombing towards your face, so most people end up turning tail before she can land any lethal blows
During the game timeline, she stays with Leon in Camia’s hut in the Catclaw desert, but she frequently leaves to go scout out Jamil and check up on him, at Leon’s request. She also checks up on Alec in Vesuvia, but she’s unable to get too close to the city
The only time her and Ravah are ever able to get along is during Muriel’s route, when they both follow Alec and Muriel from Vesuvia to the Scourgelands—they put aside their differences to make sure Alec is protected as she rides back with Muriel after their encounter with Lucio, still making sure to stay out of sight
She’ll speak to anyone who’ll listen, which is anyone with an ounce of magic, and her voice is very soothing (Jamil can hear her only sometimes, and it’s only because of Leon’s tether that he can hear anything at all)
Once she knows someone can hear her though, she is very talkative and curious, so conversations with her can last a long time
