Your girl Em went to see Dan & the Easy Eye Sound Revue last night in Toronto. What a show. Stacked with legendary talent and a groovy opening act, this tour feels really special. There are only a few dates left. If they are rolling through your town you better be there.
Highlights: Robert Finley slaying everyone with his passionate falsetto on “Holy Wine”; Shannon Shaw singing “Broke My Own” and making all of us fall completely in love with her; a brilliant and inexplicable cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Albatross”; Dan, alone on stage with an acoustic guitar singing the most heartbreakingly soulful version of “Goin’ Home” this blogmistress has ever heard.
Saw them last night in St Paul and I agree wholeheartedly with this review!!!

ICYMI: Dan reiterates in a new interview with The Philly Voice that The Black Keys are not over and that they’ll be back…
‘But all of the extracurricular activity doesn’t mean that The Black Keys are over. Black Keys drummer Pat Carney is still tight with Auerbach. “We’re good with each other,” Auerbach said. “We didn’t have to stop. We could still be on the road if we wanted to be on the road. We will get back together at some point. We’ve been friends since we were kids. There’s no reason to stop. We have plenty of music left in us and the cool thing is that I have enough music in me that I can make solo albums as well.”’

So excited for the new album. I've kind of stopped listening to music lately, but I'm guessing I'll be listening to this one a lot.

The cuteness, it burns…
New interview with Pat in RS: I love making music with Dan and I’m excited for when we do that next, and we will do it. But both of us have PTSD from being on the road constantly… more
At last. Dan Auerbach confirms a new solo record coming this spring. According to Rolling Stone he calls it “a whole history of everything I love about music.” He wrote and recorded about 60 songs last summer with John Prine, Dave Roe, Duane Eddy, Mark Knopfler and others.
Yet to see a full tracklist but the three titles reported include: “Shine On Me,” “Waiting On A Song” and “Malibu Man.” And he’ll be going on tour. More details as they emerge.
p.s. Dan also confirmed The Keys are still just “on a break.” “It’s hard to turn away money, but you have to recharge.” More here
