An Open Letter to Benedict Arnold
Dear Mr. Arnold,
You had a solid run as major general in the American army. You stalled Burgoyne to save the colonists during the winter and got shot twice (probably in the same leg) in the process. That’s some bravery that should’ve gotten awarded. Unfortunately, you get passed over, not once, not twice, but multiple times. Now I can see why you went over to the British. That’s like, really rude and stuff.
However, I have some serious issues with you. Just because you’re pissy at your commanding officers for not promoting you, does not even justify betraying an ENTIRE army for some money and a “higher role” (look, you end up a rank lower than where you started. Was that really necessary). Not only that, but you don’t even fight from behind the lines of battle. You are with your men fighting the BROTHERS you trained with without batting an eye. That’s sick and you didn’t seem to show remorse. Good thing you high-tailed it out of there the moment the war ended, because if I was back there, I would’ve been after you with Washington and the entire American army.
