Second day of Deter Week 2026! @deterweek

Summary:

My fic for Deter Week 2026

Hunters have gone to war against werewolves. Six years ago they dealt a crippling blow against the Hales by burning down the Pack House with most of the Pack inside. With the Argent, Calavera, and Munroe Clans closing in on the remnants of the Hale Pack, the other Packs urge Talia to do something to shore up their strength. Her best option, much to her chagrin, is to reach out to her brother Peter.

The Hales haven’t seen Peter since he left the Pack and formed his own splinter Pack. He’s even more conniving and handsome than Derek remembered, and everyone expects Peter to extract a heavy price for his help in this war. What Derek was not expecting, was for the price to be his hand in marriage.

How can he say no when Peter is offering Derek everything he wants on a silver platter? A pack that accepts him, the love of a mate, and the chance to be a werewolf proper.

As always with war and love, things are more complicated than that.

It's almost like having a pet, Peter thinks, though dog jokes are usually beneath him. It's fitting, though, the way Derek follows him around with his wide, old eyes and looks at Peter with an entirely undeserved devotion. Peter begins to really think of it that way as Derek grows, and the clinginess continues. It's devotion, like Derek thinks of Peter as some kind of god.

A warm palm fitted over the scar tissue on Peter’s cheek. Derek’s scent was infused with guilt and dread and surprise. Fingers brushed away snow crusted at Peter’s nape. They lift up his chin. Peter met Derek’s hazel eyes and Derek fell out of the crouch he’d been in onto his ass. He pulled himself up enough for their eyes to meet again and they stared at each other, both dumbfounded.

“You’re dead,” Derek said, finally. “I thought you were dead.”

Barbaric Bliss (You Keep Ripping Me Open)

Deter | Explicit | 5,772 words | 1/1 chapters | Rape/Non-Con Warning

Being set on fire is - god, he can't tell if it's better or worse if any of them are thinking about the fact that he burned alive just six years ago. He knows Derek must be thinking about it. That does make it both better and worse when his claws tear out Peter's throat, because it's a quick death (just like the one he gave Paige, he thinks), but it also means that Derek agrees that he deserves to die. Maybe even wants him to die, for what he did to Laura if nothing else. It is a mercy that he doesn't have the time to contemplate it.

My first contribution for @deterweek 2026 for day three: flesh and bone! I love Peter Hale so much. But I was listening to the song the title is from (Discovery Channel by Hayley Williams!) and I was like hey what if this was Deter and also real fucked up because of Peter's canonical skewed perspective and unreliable narration.
