I tried drawing my minecraft character on HomeSMP in the world of Studio Ghibili's, 'Arriety'🌱💚

The film has been the main inspiration for my base this season and with the ai ghibli debate on twitter, I wanted to have a go at drawing it myself :)

This is my first time doing digital art (with a couple of pixel art experiments as the exception) but it was really interesting approaching it with a background in physical mediums - very different (obviously). I usually draw with pencils and charcoal with a focus on crazy mark-making so the swap to a cleaner digital style was... interesting.

I also had a love/hate relationship with re-imagining myself/minecraft skin not in a blocky form (idk for some reason i still imagined myself as a cube shape despite being a slime - which is kinda silly I know) but either way, I like how the character design (if that's what you can even call it) came together and it feels representative of me irl and in minecraft.

but yh, i hope you enjoy the little guy (me)

also i would love feedback on how to improve with digital art/character stuff/finding my own style
