We are very worried about our women; we have more than 200 pregnant women in our camp. For their delivery they cannot go to a health center and they will have to deliver here … in the mud without a doctor.

The Ongoing Humanitarian Emergency in Myanmar’s Rakhine State
Eight months since deadly communal clashes first broke out in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, tens of thousands of people are still unable to access urgently needed medical care. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) calls on government authorities and community leaders to ensure that all people of Rakhine can live without fear of violence, abuse, and harassment, and that humanitarian organizations can assist those most in need.

"This is Ghana's Maternal Health Channel – a glossy TV series that is part drama, part documentary, part discussion – which is launched on Wednesday. Airing once a week for the next year on two Ghanaian channels, it will follow the lives of women and their families across the country, from the relatively prosperous urban south to remote villages and the impoverished savannah region in the north."

Prenatal Partner Yoga Workshop - One Week Left To Sign Up!
Grab your partner, friend or relative and join certified prenatal yoga instructor, Audrey Muto, for a Prenatal Partner Yoga Workshop at Breathing Room in New Haven.
Date: December 2, 2012
Time: 12:30-2:30 with time for tea/snacks
Cost: $40/couple
It’s no secret that the processes of labor and birth unfold in unpredictable ways. The practice of yoga can help you prepare for birth and build confidence in your ability to give birth in awareness and make decisions that are right for you. In this class, you and your partner will practice yoga poses individually and together to facilitate an atmosphere of love and support between one another and with your baby. We will incorporate poses, breathing practices and mindfulness and meditation techniques that will be useful to you throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond! Yoga practice will be from 12:30-2:30 pm, with time afterward for chai, snacks, visiting and questions! All levels welcome and encouraged.

IUD
Yesterday, I...
...performed an exam on a woman who had a hysterectomy.
...made an ass of myself (and probably freaked out a mama) trying to listen to heart tones on a woman who was seven weeks along because I thought she was ten weeks along (you can't hear heart tones with a doppler before 8-9wks at the earliest).
...placed my first IUD. No big deal =)
About loss and what to say and do for a woman who has experienced a pregnancy loss.
I couldn't find the audio, so this will have to do. Hilarious.
Hooray diversity!
Also, teaching vinyasa this morning 9am and prenatal at 10:30am at Breathing Room!
