She watched him, amused. How similar they must have looked with their hair as white as snow, it was about all that they had in common though. She respected him, but she was utterly wary of his kind. Perhaps it was ingrained in her to dislike them, for since he first arrived the merfolk had taken to fawning over Peter Pan - and Tinkerbell was petty despite herself.
"Fair point." She grumbled, in no mood to listen to his philosophical rambling. She was tired, and her head pounded as though something had stood upon her skull just to watch it crack. The woods behind them were still standing, the fire had not spread so far as to reach the lagoon, but the damage was evident from the smoke that loomed amongst the trees. Reminding her to remain angry, to seek vengeance for what the captain had done. Glancing down at the merman, she shrugged one shoulder carelessly, though she would much rather be anywhere else. "I need information now more than ever. If your kind are fighting, if you are fighting.” She paused for a moment, lost in thought as she so often became. “Have you heard anything of Peter?”
He honestly did not know how humans bared with having to walk on, to move on to swim with in such slow paces as he saw from those who fell in the water. It was odd but he moved with in fluid movements, grabbing what fabric of clothing to cover himself before turning toward the pixie. Hair as white as the fallen snow, it was amusing as it was the only thing they shared in common within the limits of bare respect he gave anyone.
Even he was not fond of how his kind fawned over the boy yet, he could spare a glimmer of care to put a stop to it.
Him, fight? He almost let out a bark of laughter. "If I were fighting, I would not be standing before you."
Waverly arched an eyebrow to the question presented. "Of Peter?" He repeated as if the words were something foreign, as yes something he was supposed to be good for in his knowledge of the land or what was on the water. Had he heard anything of the boy? He moved a thin line through his thoughts as if thumbing through pages of a book for information it could provide; sighting, words from the other merfolk among the waters. "Nothing that would strike the ear as interesting from my kin." He paused momentarily. "Is there something I need to be made aware of?"
She approached the lagoon with an ease unlike most around this time of day. This was when the merfolk were at their strongest, the slithering beasts always lurking beneath the island like slippery little devils just waiting for their opportunity to prowl the land. Tinkerbell despised the creatures, the sneaky little things, but they could be useful too, especially the silver haired merman she approached now.
Though her footsteps were light as feathers, the being could sense her anyway - she would be a fool to think that he could not. He was older, wiser than she could ever imagine, and despite herself she respected him to some degree. It was mutual respect that got them anywhere, the pixie being the sort to shun away anyone lesser than her, or to use them to her heart’s content.
Lingering closer to the pool, she couldn’t help but chuckle at the words that slipped from Waverly’s lips, his voice as deep as the coming night, a night that would consume them all. Though the truce still went on, battles would be soon begin again. “I thought it was in your nature to… bite.” She drawled, her voice light but tinged with pain. Every move ached thanks to the burning of her wound, the battle getting to Tinkerbell more than she let on - perhaps, she was not cut out for this after all.
A faint hum from the male as he glanced back to the sky, what little light lingered along it; a few minutes give or take for it and he could wait for that moment 'til he could prowl across the land. A large amount of patience for the small of moments worth.
Although the footsteps light, he could heard the shift of the land beneath the steps yet something off about them in the slightest of ways. Something lingered. The chuckle and the words coming from an all too familiar person, eyes turning upward toward the familiar pixie lingering closer to him and the pool. "It is of all nature to bite, in whatever fashion it may be in." The truce still hanging on by threads, he assumed nothing bu what lingered or what other noises absent, echoed. Waverly took notice the pain in her words, but said nothing of it. "What brings you to my part of the world?"
At the cusp of the water, the horizon; dusk lined the sky with its purples, orange, reds and pinks. As awe striking as this was, this seemed of disinterest to the merman watching it from the Lagoons waters. Green orbs turned hence from it, waiting for the moment when the waters darkened completely --night time waters hugged the shore. Some time to spar, to ponder on, think on more than just of night fall. Too many things to, so little time for it to get done. Running slender digits through the blonde strands, a strange smell came in, nothing of his kind but more of... No, he couldn't quite put his finger on it. It could have been anything, almost anything.
"Standing there silent, doesn't keep you from my senses. Speak up, I don't bite." Much, a murmured thought on the ending of the statement as he turned to look over his shoulder to whomever was watching from the afar, from the shadows.
"--I do hope you have some business here."
