His excuse for Vinny, could have been the reason why this would have turned into another chapter of this argument. Vinny might not have been a stranger to Francis, but due to the fact that they hadn’t seen each other in so long and her troubled past, his young cousin was nothing more than a stranger to her. However, the moment Fransisco apologized, Yasemin calmed down. It made her wonder if he still had that tell when he lied and that was how she used to always know when he did it, because this time, when Francis apologized, she saw the truth in his eyes. Drawing a breath, the brunette stepped a little bit closer. She hesitated at first, but her hand reached out and her knuckles brushed against his scarred cheek for a brief moment before said hand dropped to her side, stretching out her hands as if she shouldn't had touched him like that. ❝ I believe you. ❞ With a nod, Yasemin continued. ❝ And I appreciate the apology. ❞ She also appreciated the fact that he’d mentioned not putting his cousin up to follow her to gather information on her (and in this case, on her and Rhys). ❝ I also appreciate you clarifying that. ❞ It was a small step towards mending what had been broken between them: honesty.
The brunette nodded when he listed the things that he would do, thus abiding to her wishes. ❝ Thank you for understanding, Fransisco. ❞ Yasemin leaned down and planted a gentle kiss on the side of his head, before doing the same with Luna and having the toddler react by offering her one of the toy shells. If they hadn’t just had this awkward conversation, chances were, Yasemin would’ve mentioned how girl dad coded he looked. At least, her ex seemed to finally realize that she just wanted to be included in his decisions that involved her.
Turning around, Yasemin found what Francis had been looking at when he’d mentioned someone making her happy and at that moment, the brunette felt embarrassed for having touched her ex in front of her current date. Even if Rhys and her had been seeing each other casually, it still might not have been a nice scene for him to witness. ❝ I wasn’t talking about him when I mentioned my happiness. I want you to know that. ❞ If this conversation had been all about honesty, then he deserved more from her. ❝ He is nice, yes. And he has been good to me, but I'm not placing my happiness in his hands. ❞ She had done that so many times and none of these times had ended well. Francis and her ex were just a couple of examples of that. Now she needed to find happiness on her own. ❝ Since you have been honest, you should know that him and I just getting to know each other. I told him I wanted to come to the festival and he offered to accompany me. ❞ With her gaze on Luna and on his hands caressing the toddler's back, she continued, tilting her head down to try and catch his gaze on hers again. ❝ We will go back on your accident and my—years away, okay? Here and now is just not the time or place. ❞
