Hello, Hi, Greetings! My name is Kra (it/its) (( @nameissmile )), and this is a blog about my cool worlds! The Aquarium Room is a narrative device created after watching all of Tanksfornothin's videos again.
(more under cut)
The Caretakers themselves are strange incomprehensible beings, who only have a design for necessity's sake. They themselves will not be showing up often in lore posts, but their tag (The Caretakers) will be used to tag lore posts about the """""""tank-room""""""" itself!
Each of the worlds will have their own tags, and eventually introduction posts to each of them! All characters will also have individual tags (this will be fun). Character tags will not be on tags.
All Worlds so far are:
Intora (+AUs)
Agna
Ever
Robot world
Dragon World
Fish World
Wizard World
Kelpie City (aka cooler city)
Bathhouse Bugs
If you have more questions/are curious about anything about this feel free to ask!
This is Helix, The Immortal Explosion Mage! (They/them)
They are supposed to look vaguely like the "eye" nebula, and due to being an explosion mage they tend to have 2-5 prosthetic fingers.
Became immortal due to the Sun's Song, but have a magical "timer" of sorts that cause them to explode after a given amount of time (varies slightly). Eventually reform to what may have been the age they originally heard the song (around 10-15 usually)
Each time they reform their memories erode a little more. If someone recognizes them they just go along with it even if they don't recognize that person. Apparently has some beef with some random old guy, doesn't remember said beef at all.
They also Love Raspberries.
Helix is an anomaly and should not be counted when considering the rules of wizard world (no other characters can be immortal, the only reason Helix is is because they were created before the idea of wizard world really came into being! :))
Imagine if you will, the world was full of wizards. Now imagine it differently because your wrong and it's so much more interesting than that. Now read this post.
Background Lore semi-important for understanding the inner workings of world. This world however is focused mostly on the characters within, as this was a world where I and my Muse could create characters that were "wizards". Most of the complexities of the world are about individual and interpersonal relationships and conflicts.
The Soundless Sun:
During an ancient conflict in the distant past, it is believed that one member of the conflict, perhaps in a last ditch effort to swing the tide, launched some form of device into the sun. An unknown amount of time later, the sun started emitting some sort of frequency that has been dubbed "The Great Crescendo", described in the scraps of logs that remain from the time as a constant sound that can be heard anywhere. Anyone who heard the sound began to die, leading to the death of over 99% of the population. The less than 1% that survived could not hear the sound, due to a gene they possessed. As time passed on, the survivors intermixed and reproduced, concentrating that gene over the course of generations. This eventually led to people capable of wielding what is known as magic.
It is believed that the sun still sings to this day, as it continues to disrupt high frequency radio waves, like those used in WiFi. Another piece of evidence that points to its continued presence is what is sometimes called the "death drone", a sound that people begin to hear as the get older and closer to death. Only the immortal mage Helix could fully describe the sound, as they are the only person capable of dying and then returning to life.
The Soundless Sun Frequency, sometimes called the "2SF", the "SSF", "The 2S frequency", or simply "The Song", only effects (and can be heard by) creatures with a certain degree of complex thought, meaning that most animals were and continue to be unaffected by the frequency
(canonically, nobody really knows exactly what the soundless sun is. The closer you get to death the more you can hear it, which is sort of known. like an odd fact you share with friends level.)
The Bureaus:
World Postal Bureau (Bird themed)
Early Bird Department: Normal Delivery
Night Owl Department: Special Delivery
World Transportation Bureau (Fish themed)
Armored Department: Vehicles
Cartilaginous Department: Teleportation Circle Network
Bony Department: Public transportation
Jawless Department: On Foot Pathways and Maintenance
World Emergency Bureau: (KNIGHTS!!!) (Arthropod themed)
Arachnid Division: Hostiles
(undecided) Division: Natural Disaster
(undecided) Division: Infrastructure Failure
(undecided) Division: (undecided)
World Communication Bureau: (Bat themed)
Mega Division: Audio Communication
Micro Division: Visual Communication
World Nature Bureau: (Canine themed?)
Fox Department: Flora
Wolf Department: Fauna
Coyote Department: Parks Services
Jackal Department: Monitors Wizards and Old Beasts
[When referring to these many, many World (blank) Bureaus, many people will refer to them as "NB" (WNB) or "TB" (WTB), as a way to easily talk to each other about them. in official notation they are still referred to by their full acronym]
(There are no governments in this world btw. These are sort of like non-profits or volunteer-led organizations. Mostly because there is also no money, technically making it a post-post apocalyptic post-capitalistic utopia. what a world.)
(there are several large "schools" (colleges essentially) that are available to anyone who wants to go to one. yay!)
(long distance teleportation is difficult and dangerous to perform. Hence why there is a postal and transportation Bureau.)
Strange Species:
The Threm:
Look like owls, are not owls, not even closely related
Cannot fly, walk around instead. It is very weird
The only other sapient, non-human derived species
Evolved on an island while humanity was still reconnecting after The Song. While the Threm evidently evolved to be able to survive The Song, the Threm cannot wield magic like humans can, and all Threm hear a constant low droning sound throughout their lives.
Generally, the eye color of the threm indicates the gender (many different genders within threm culture because of it)
[it is hypothesized that the way the threm (a separate sentient species on Wizard World) evolved to survive The Song is by developing a way to process and hear the song without it scrambling their brain, the way it is believed to have killed the majority of ancient humanity]
[Nowadays, most humans know how to pronounce and speak the threm language, and can even take classes to speak it in most schools which allow humans to use Threm pronouns. However back when Threm and Humans were first interacting, the threm took "public" human pronouns, while still using their own sets of pronouns within other threm groups. Older Threm still tend to do this.]
(make around ~20% of the population, most of them living on the island where they evolved)
The Merfolk:
Either a generation of ancient humans that went underwater to try and escape the Crescendo (2SF), or a species of early shape shifters that accidentally lost themselves to the animal that eventually turned into the Merfolk we know today
Generally the merfolk are kind, but have a hard time speaking when outside of water, also they are fucking LOUD
(The Merfolk once had an "aquarium" of their own, but they are now combined with Wizard World. Hence they aren't very developed very much.)
The Old Wizards
A species (distinct from human mages) referred to as Wizards or Ancients. They are believed to have been created through experimentation by ancient humans that lacked what would become the magic gene, in an attempt to survive the Crescendo.
These experiments are generally considered to have failed, instead producing strange arcane entities that, while immortal and able to survive The Song, are functionally insane and warped beyond recognition by the processes that created them
In the modern day, they reside in "nests", large and often sprawling jungles of stone, glass, and pointy roofs, that sit within large protected regions. (wizard national parks!) These regions exist both to protect the Wizards from exploitation and harm, and to protect the rest of the population, as the regions and lairs that Wizards inhabit and construct are warped by strange energies and unknown technologies, and are nearly always exceedingly dangerous to be in.
Each wizard has a particular "theme" or idea that they are obsessed with, to the point of embodying that idea through their physical, mental, and magical bodies.
Because of this fixation, "Wizard" is often used as a slang word to mean someone who is obsessive about and focused on a particular topic or concept.
(They cannot be cured, they are and always will be this way. They are not cruel and the way they were created was not done in malice. These were people experimented on with the hopes to give them the capabilities of those that could survive The Sun, and that is not their fault, but of their government's to do that. It is important to recognize that. Within the canon, there is no longer a way to make these wizards, as the Wizards tended to explode/violently destroy the places they were made in.) (There is only around 50 of them left in the wild, and they CANNOT reproduce. Don't Ask.)
