I just said goodbye to Mark and honestly my heart hurts so much because I've left so many people today. And last night was incredible and I laughed so much and there was so much love but now everything dissipated and I can't believe I have to wait until May to see everyone again.
And Mark has honestly been like a second father to me and I love him so much for that. I just love our relationship and the way we interact, he's like my rock'n'roll dad and he's mentioned several times that I'm like a daughter to him. He gave me all this free film equipment too, two lenses and a camera, and he didn't have to do any of that but he did and I'm just so happy and grateful.
I remember when I just started guitar he scared me a hella lot which is silly because he's the gentlest and kindest person I know. Mark's always just sort of sensed when I'm down and he really gets me. And its like he knows all my fears and knows how to reassure me that everything is okay, I am okay, and I appreciate that so much!
And he always says to me, "If you were my daughter..." and today he kept doing that and making these fatherly comments. When he gave my his email he was all, "Email me about guitar, or anything going on in your life, you know, all the things you can't talk to your parents about." Like it's just so nice to have this adult in my life who I know cares about me unconditionally and is willing to step in as my father, but doesn't care if I smoke or do dumb things, because he remembers what it's like to be young and unburdened and desperate to live.
