Annual Hellebore Appreciation Post

Every year I am amazed by the winter blooms of Hellebores, also known as Christmas Roses. With glossy, evergreen foliage and hardy flowers that love shaded areas, this plant is a must have in the garden for when there is no color in the cold and winter season.

This year I obtained the Black Diamond Hellebore (last photo, right side) for myself to go into the raised beds where it is completely shaded.

Note: Plants are toxic, including for pets, if consumed.

It is important to have images that positively portray boys of color because they are stereotyped in ways which lead people to believe that they feel less pain than other people. Their negative depiction in popular media contributes to a lack of empathy for them and robs them of human qualities. My images show that boys of color are people who feel pain just as strongly if not more than others. Like flowers, they are beautiful and must be protected. Please do not step on them.”

Woman Photographs Herself Receiving Strange Looks in Public

“I now reverse the gaze and record their reactions to me while I perform mundane tasks in public spaces. I seek out spaces that are visually interesting and geographically diverse. I try to place myself in compositions that contain feminine icons or advertisements. Otherwise, I position myself and the camera in a pool of people…and wait.

The images capture the gazer in a microsecond moment where they, for unknowable reasons, have a look on their face that questions my presence. Whether they are questioning my position in front of the lens or questioning my body size, the gazer appears to be visually troubled that I am in front of them.”

If a royal is given a title with a foreign character in it when they're traveling, what the heck happens when they get home and need something "printed out," so-to-speak?

I'm kinda taking this back toward "Cassim, King of Thieves" from the third Aladdin film. That is NOT how one would spell a name from whence, so it must be a title. That being the case, how would one render the character for "C", being in this case more culturally around to do so rather than Kh or better yet, Q? Okay, forgive if I should be operating on a presumption, but WERE that true, the point stands.

How does one render a foreign character or characters in the title of one's native speech?

(contd.) A cleaner-cut and probably better IRL example would be "Doña", for instance. How would you render that in English if you couldn't render that in English, as it were? Like, Regency England didn't have Windings font...

I suppose one would anglicanize or translate said title into the nearest one in ones own culture in an effort to understand it or as in some cases, avoid a painful pronounciation which may cause offense. If one was being respectful, one would use the right style but in efforts to simplify things, one may just broadly translate it. For example if I was talking with a tourist about the government system in Ireland, I would use the correct form of address for example Taoiseach but would also loosely translate it as Prime Minister.
