After a long while of hinting at them - to the point I stopped hinting at them, whoops - I ended up finishing this piece! Look at all the designs I gave these guys, from Tails to Cream to Hope and lavish!
Finally. After so damn long of myself being unable to write Marian's bio, @the-fourth-knower decided I needed to get it finished, and wrote a goo chunk of it for me. I have to thank him, as I seemed to have a huge block when it came to her bio.
There are Spoilers for Misery Tastes and the possible sequel to it (if I'm doing it, IDK if I will do it) in the backstory, so be prepared if you want to read it.
Marian (Masuyo) Kintobor
Age: 39
Occupation: Hero (formerly), Seelie Court Agent
Personality: Marian is a reclusive individual, often keeping her thoughts to herself. She’s built up a reputation of being ‘mysterious’ to those familiar with her. However, with those she really knows, Marian will get very lovey-dovey and mushy. She makes nicknames for her friends, like calling Harold ‘Beloved’ instead of his actual name or calling Slipstream ‘Punk Rock’.
With her family, Marian is extremely doting – to the point of opening-up to others and help express their feelings. Doing this with her own children and husband on the regular – and helping them say the words they meant, rather than saying the first thing needed to be said or clamming up immediately.
However, she’s also the type of person to take everything on her own, never once allowing outside help unless she feels she’s dying without it. From not allowing Harold to change Baby Julian, to sacrificing herself so that her family could live without the fear of danger. Marian’s own loyalty to family is above all, making sure that her son and daughter are well protected, and her husband secure at home. This loyalty once extended to her father, before she cut herself off from him over her son.
Marian’s family history is one of warriors capable of destroying civilizations, and Marian is no different. However, unlike most of her family – who have handed their techniques down to their descendants – Marian has kept most of her abilities to herself. She doesn't like showing her abilities much, but is very open to engaging in small talk.
Strengths: Marian is versatile in many types of combat, though her preferred one is the art of swords. She prefers katanas for their swift strike, yet patient in waiting for the right strike. Other swords have also been used by Marian – scimitars, broadswords, bastard swords, and so on. But Marian prefers katana’s due to their delicacy over other weapons.
Marian is an outgoing individual, conversing with people about their feelings daily. Living in a former cult has caused her to be more in tune with understanding her emotions than others, making her a natural coach for those in need of help. She sees the best in everyone and anyone - a boundless, infectious optimism.
Weaknesses: Marian is someone who will without hesitation put her loved ones before herself - she will shoulder any and all responsibilities for them no matter the cost to herself. Her idealism and optimism can rope around to naivety.
Marian reacts poorly to high stress. And especially poorly to aggression - rising anger is associated with an imminent slap to her as punishment. She is also prone to abandoning people without notice, in attempts to protect them.
Marian’s experiences with the cult have given her a guilt complex. She’s quick to tear herself down, especially when things go wrong. When this happens expect to hear her muttering over how much of a failure she is.
Likes: Family, Harold, her children, helping others, katanas
Dislikes: Fae Cult, being indoctrinated, no free will, the Elf King, the Elf King’s henchman
Backstory: Marian was born amongst the Seelie Court - a Fae Cult. Made up of mostly Changelings, this cult is dedicated to summoning Emptiness, a being of great power. It is their belief that Emptiness will allow them to take over the world as it’s chosen.
As a child, Marian eagerly soaked up the cult’s teachings and belies, delighting in the community it provided. A natural extrovert, she befriended all of the other cult children. She hung onto her fathers’s words and his behavior, even as she had to go through grueling training courses. It was of course part of the family legacy - and father knew best.
She lapped up being told that she was of a noble lineage - the original line of Changelings from days of yore, those who were able to summon Emptiness from it’s prison in the Chaos Between into the real world. She didn’t hesitate to tell the other kids about this - or rather, they were happy to tell her about it.
Of course, as she got older she started growing uneasy. While as a child she never thought about it, every time she ever asked questions about the cult she was slapped for it. Whenever she talked to outsiders, she was slapped. Once, she took it upon herself to go and fetch groceries - when she returned her father beat her for daring to leave without anyone accompanying her! Even her childhood friends began distancing themselves from both her and each other, for “the good of the Court.” After all, the Court members couldn’t be too friendly with each other - there were rules, expectations to follow. And Marian started to ‘deviate’ from the norm.
While Marian was of noble lineage, she still had to climb the ranks of the Court as her sires did. And that meant becoming an apprentice to one of her masters. While ignoring any and all feelings of discontent or miserableness.
Things only got more complicated - on one of her first missions she ran into another Changeling (and an Elf). The Elf was easy to deal with, she just tricked him into getting stuck. But the Changeling - a deer - threw her world-view for a loop. For one thing, he worked with those who she was taught kept changeling kind under heel. And even worse, he didn’t take the Court seriously in the least! In fact he seemed to both know less about it and more than Marian did herself - and she grew up in the Court! It seemed very outrageous to her, yet… there was an excitement she never could shake off, even after she left.
She escaped the encounter, but she would run into the other changeling more than once. She that he was a servant of the Elf king - the one responsible for keeping Marian’s people under heel. Their talks together made her less and less confident in her place in the world - the agent did not sugar coat that he was a pawn in a game, and that he felt Marian was no different no matter her lineage. The thought… unnerved her, yet it made sense more than the Court ever seemed to her.
Marian didn’t want to believe it at first - yet as she ran things through her head over and over, it made more and more sense. All of the slaps, the beatings, the pressure to conform and behave exactly as expected. Even her father’s forcing her through all of the exercise and trials was in a different light.
But even then, what could she do? How would she even be able to leave?
Then she met him.
Harold Kintobor.
She didn’t know his name at first, of course. When she first saw him, she was on a mission to drive away a strange machine - a sleek robot. But to her surprise, she saw two hedgehogs and a human present already. She watched the three, as the human stomped off and the hedgehogs fought each other.
The hedgehogs were driven off a ledge by he robot, and then it and the human began fighting. Well, “fighting.” To Marian’s amusement, it was more the human being kicked around and then getting back up over and over. It was honestly rather goofy.
And yet…something compelled her to join in. ANd not merely because it was the mission given her by the Court. If she helped the human destroy the robot, she would fulfill the mission while helping someone. It was a win-win!
Between the two of them the robot didn’t stand a chance. And once the humans’ friends returned she slipped away, eager to tell the Court of her success. The Court was less than pleased about Marian’s decision to help the human, lambasting her for it. But ultimately considered it a win for themselves. This was a final straw for Marian, however; she stewed over everything that’s happened to her, not even noticing herself rise up in the ranks.
And then the human began stalking her. On one level, she was equal parts creeped out and angered - on another, she found herself…intrigued. One day she decided to meet the human - but she couldn’t do that while in the court. But if she just slipped away, the Court would come after her.
Unless she was captured…
Getting into contact with the Elfin Court’s agent, the two arranged a plan.
It was a rough fight, one that ultimately Marian lost - she was captured by the Elf King’s changeling. As far as the Seelie Court was concerned she would have been dead, effectively.
But what they didn’t account for was Marian staging the loss; she and the agent worked together to make it convincing. Then, once she was far away from the Court, the agent let her loose to go on her way.
Once she parted ways with the agent, she went after Harold. He wasn’t far away after all, having followed the two. After a game of cat and mouse, she managed to trap the human. What she didn’t anticipate was his own trap. To this day the two prefer not to talk about this, or how they got out.
And with their first proper meeting, the two learned each other’s names. The two wnt from cautious observers to close friends in record time. The two began adventuring together, Marian mutually drawing close to Harold with each one. It didn’t help that unlike the Court - who discovered that Marian was very much alive by this point - Harold was genuine in his friendship with her.
After many hijinks, escapades, and near death experiences, it was inevitable that the two fell for each other. On their final adventure, Marian was the first to propose to Harold - beating him to the punch, as he planned to do so after their adventure.
The two married soon after. In time, Marian had her first child - Julian Kintobor. The times that followed were some of the happiest in Marian’s life, as she and Harold doted on their son. When her second child - a daughter, Hope Kintobor - was born, she fully expected to do the same with her.
Fate, however, had other ideas.
One day Marian discovered something - something horrible. Ovi stood in the woods near the mansion, completely blank. In his hands was a diamond - a pure gray diamond. Horrified, Marian took the diamond away from Ovi, and he stoon returned to normal. If confused about what happened to him.
Marian herself held onto the diamond. And soon became plagued by nightmares involving Ovi and the diamond. Each one saw the diamond transforming Ovi into a horrifying monster - one that could only be Emptiness made manifest. Each nightmare ended with Ovi transforming the world into a wasteland filled with shambling husks.
These nightmares terrified her, to the point of deciding right there and then that she needed to run away. She could not let the Diamond twist her son into a monster.
But how? She didn’t know anyone that could help her.
Unless…she left.
But how could she just leave her family?
Marian struggled to figure out what to do - if she stayed with her family while holding onto the gray diamond, then they would be attacked by the Seelie Court. It was bad enough that she was a deserter from them - once they found out that she found the gray diamond? They would stop at nothing!
No, she would have to leave her family. For their own protection and happiness. Even if it meant leaving her distraught but neglectful husband, her well-loved but lonely son, and the child that was barely a year old.
She left Harold a note on his desk one night, and slipped away. The diamond on her person and only what she needed to get as much distance between herself and her family as possible.
Marian began to be hunted as soon as she was a mile away from the Kintobor Mansion. Not only by the Seelie Court, but by an old ‘enemy’ - the same Elf she met so long ago, now a Lord. She didn’t know why his master wanted her, but she wasn’t about to find out.
Sandwiched between the two groups, it was impressive that she managed to last as long as she did. Unfortunately for Marian, her efforts were for naught - it was perhaps inevitable that she would be caught either by her former cultmates or by the Elf lord doing his king’s will. As it was, the cult got her first.
For her “crimes,” she was isolated deep within the Court’s dens. Then harshly punished - gaslit, brainwashing, isolation. It bore a toll on Marian’s psyche, and she broke eventually. She was brought back into the cult’s fold, and even for a time embraced its beliefs. Her memories of what she learned from the Diamond were lost.
But she would not remain trapped in the cult’s teachings - she broke away once, and her memories of her family and friends banished the rest in a blaze of righteous fire. Yet even then, Marian had no choice but remain with the cult. She could not return to her family - that would put them in the cult’s crosshairs. Running away would see the bitter Elf lord pursue her once more without starting a war with the Seelie Court.
But as long as she was in the Court, then her family would surely be safe. And that was enough for her to make it through the day to day.
Now if only she could remember what she saw from the Diamond…
The long awaited evolution to Embrite! Here’s Flamoth! This is part of the evolution line for Arche’s signature Pokemon, and as such will be given a bit of special attention for it. XD
Anyways, the stats:
Flamoth - The Dancing Moth Pokemon
Height: 2′00″ or 0.6m
Description: The evolved form of Embrite. Instead of following Litwick and Lampent, the Pokemon has decided to go into places populated by humans to feed off of their sadness. To trick humans to get close, Flamoth starts dancing to attract wayward souls to them. There has been found archeological evidence of twin Flamoth calling on Volcarona for assistance in the past, however no other instance has been recorded.
Abilities: Flash Fire, Flame Body (Hidden Ability: Prankster)
Stats:
HP: 60
Attack: 40
Defence: 50
Special Attack: 60
Special Defence: 95
Speed: 55
Help, I made a Fakemon Bio for one of my original Pokemon. This one’s based off of Litwick’s original design – where it evolved from a little flame. It’s mainly why it hangs out with Litwick and why it’s more Specially Defensive. I thought it would be nice to have a Pokemon similer enough to the Chandelure line, but making it more focused on supporting allies, which is what I felt would be nice.
Embrite - The Little Ember Pokemon
Height: 1′00″ or 0.3m
Description: This pokemon can be found around Litwick, leading some to believe that they are the same. In truth, while they come from the same evolutionary branch, Litwick and Embrite fill very different niches. Embrite often leads humans astray with it’s wine-red flames, feeding off their fears and sadness before Litwick takes them to the Ghost World.
Abilities: Flash Fire, Flame Body (Hidden: Prankster)
Stats:
HP: 50
Attack: 20
Defense: 55
Special Attack: 55
Special Defence: 65
Speed: 30
Base Stat Total: 275
Honestly, the idea of this Pokemon wouldn’t leave my head until I actually made it. I don’t have the name of the Region yet, but this is basically a Regional Luvdisc that is Water/Fairy Type, and I know that it’ll get Regenerator as it’s main ability. It’s evolved form is Cupidisc, and it’s based off of a specific Angelfish…
For some odd reason, my mind lept to Rupert Price making a ‘horny’ joke at my Dragon!Henry, and then this happened completely.
… I just can’t see Rupert Price as anything but an idiot who talks a load of game, but at the end of everything he still ends up getting smacked in the face.
Haha, funny game about a breakdancing zombie rat infulenced Ovi’s costume this year.
Wanted to give a bit of variation this year by changing up Ovi’s design a bit… So I went to a rhythm game about a rat that has only one day to live, lols.
There we are! The Dragon Triplets are all coloured!
Yes, they all like their flame patterns on their clothing, what of it? They know they stylin.
About the colour leaking off of their heads/necks and the tips of their tails – It’s dye. They often dye their (manes? hair?) hair because they’re born stark white, and dyeing their manes makes it easier to differentiate between the three.
Of course, they also tend to wear Glam Rock clothing that fits their specific styles more, so them dyeing their hair/mane is an extra step. But hey, if they like it, they like it.
As for their ‘skin’ colour… Yeah, they have scales in place of skin.
Awhoops. I made Space Vampires instead of working on my other shit.
Maybe I’ll call them Cardia?
Anyways, these two.
The Cardians are a race of vampires that require a small amount of blood to sustain their minds from going completely feral. Their planet was recently destroyed by more larger, more controlling council of the Universe to make room for a space bridge, and since then the Cardians have been looting and looking for a new home.
Lady Carrossa (left) is the current leader of the Cardians, and had found Grawoul to be the prime location for their new homeworld. However, Carrossa could not stand being a lesser person in Grawoul, and thus set up a coup to get rid of the Farok Kingdom, positioning herself as the leader without much issue. She makes the Dragon’s lives worse under her rule, allowing the Cardians to basically spit on them and use their heartstones without their permission.
Lady Carrossa likes to be in control, and demands that everyone gives her respect, while giving out none of that respect to others.
Her own son, Hemmo, is an entirely different story. He’s a sweetheart to his very core, not wanting to hurt others as he drinks their blood. In fact, Hemmo rarely drinks blood as a result, only using a minimum pint a week to satisfy his lust.
Hemmo’s got a strong sense of justice, and assumed that him overthrowing the Farok Kingdom’s people would allow them to free the ‘living Treasures’ from the White Dragon’s ‘cruel captivity’. However, like most of the Cardians, Hemmo doesn’t know any aspects of the Glam Rock Dragons in general, and once Fret returns back to Grawoul a changed dragon, it makes him question his mother’s words…
Never mind about my own feelings on Sonic, you’re all here for my art! … Am I not correct?
Regardless, here’s a slight redesign of all three of the glamrock dragons!
“But wait!” you all yell out, “You’ve only showed the one! Why did you redesign all of them?”
Well, to start off with…
1. The original designs were overdetailed and not really that fun to work with.
2. Their original designs didn’t really invoke enough of the ‘glam-rock’ name I gave them.
3. They looked like knock-offs of a ‘franchise’ that only had one game to it’s name, and an updated PSP version.
4. Their original designs looked more like dragon kemonomimi (Animal Eared Humans, or as TV Tropes likes to call them, Little Bit Beastly), and I wanted to emphasize their draconic traits a bit more.
5. Sticking flame patterns on them was more fun than adding too much detail.
Alright, enough with that explaination, onto the characters themselves:
From left to right: Fret, Agarette, and Trigger.
Fret is the oldest (has one spike on his tail!) of the White Dragon Triplets, and the first in line for the throne of Grawoul’s mightiest kingdom: The Farok kingdom. However, unlike Earth’s monarchies, Fret and his siblings were raised outside of the castle walls, to have them get a better understanding of what’s actually important to better run the kingdom. As such, while there is a monarch leading the governing, there is a lot of democratic processes to elect people that would help guide the kingdom to prosperity.
Fret was raised in a small town a few days away from Farok’s capital – Lugous – under the care of a simple farming family. Over time, Fret essentially learned how to properly take care of the people, having knowledge of both farm, wild, and adult life to understand the problems happening with the common people.
Agarette is the second oldest of the triplets, and like Fret and Trigger was sent off to live with a family to better help understand that sector. She was sent off to a family that had a failing business, which helped Agarette understand how money worked and how to make that business rise to the top. Eventually, she managed to save that business from bankruptsy, returning back to the castle the glamour of rich society and understanding of business practices.
Trigger, like his other siblings, was sent away to learn what the outside world is like, and to get a better understanding of what life was like outside of the walls of the castle. Unlike his older triplet siblings, Trigger was given to a clan of notorius thieves, with a penchant of dressing up like they were gentlemen. Eventually, Trigger wormed his way into the hearts of these criminals, eventually softening them up for society while also understanding what made most of them turn to the life of crime. Trigger also became the leader of said group, with the previous leader calling him ‘Little Prince’ as an affectionate nickname. It was the hardest for Trigger to leave his clan the most, as the group had practically didn’t want to let him return back to the castle – unfortunately, the White Dragons need to return to their birthplace to eventually lead the kingdom, but Trigger did promise that he’d find a way to get the clan accepted…
