Ryan was fuming, absolutely pissed off that of all people to kiss Lilly would pick his best friend all cause she couldnât handle a little bit of rejection at the time. It wasnât like he was actually rejecting her in the first place, he was just in a foul mood and didnât want to make out. Not everything could be solved with a makeout - not that heâd be admitting that, he was just sick of this shit. It was just like Jasper to continue with it though, the bastard had been his bestfriend for how fucking long and now he was doing shit like this? He mumbled something to himself as he took another swig of the Hennessy in the bottle and downed it quickly. Heâd been drinking, like he always did when he was upset. Shaking his head as he left his room with the open bottle, not even caring to lock the door behind him, or even bring the cap to the bottle. Who fucking cared if someone caught him? No big deal right now, not with everything on his mind at the moment. Taking another long swig of the bottle, he loved the way it burned his throat and filled his stomach with fire. The taste of it not so bad, but when it came to others, they never really appreciated how strong the drink was.
Lucky him, he wasnât that drunk yet, but he was sure to be shitfaced by the end of the night. Especially with how he usually got when he was drunk. Throwing a punch in the nearest direction of a wall, he made a dent - like any human with super strength would. But he didnât mind it, or mind the way his hand was a little beat up now. The pain wasnât that bad, anyway. The more he roamed the halls of the extremely large building his eyes fell onto a girl who was seemingly going in the opposite direction, only to have it register in his mind that it was Arabella. Raising his eyebrows, he figured she knew about the incident too and wasnât exactly happy with it. Not with the chase her and Jasper had been having forever, why the fuck they didnât just get back together was beyond him. âYo, Bell, is that you?â He mumbled, walking over to her in a slow pace. âYeah, itâs you. Alright. Uh, you want some of this? Cause itâd probably be best if I didnât finish this bottle on my own⊠I mean, shit. Iâm sorry. Are you okay? Yâknow⊠I know what happened.â He was talking nonsense, but that didnât matter. He could see the hurt in the girls eyes, âFucking dick.â He mumbled under his breath, glancing away from her momentarily.Â
Bella crossed her arms in front of her, not realizing how cold it actually had been outside her room. I should've brought a sweater..., she sighed to herself. However, it was easy for her to forget about such human necessities when she had been undead for decades now. She wrapped her arms around herself tighter as she felt a breeze pass by her from one of the open windows in the hall. Seeing as she had nothing else to do, she thought about closing the window, just in case she took this route again on her way back to her room later on. Her plan was cut short when she heard someone call to her down the hall,
She turned her heard in the direction of the voice. It was Ryan, Jasper's best friend. She had seen him around a bunch of times, talking to him occasionally when she and Jasper were on good terms and happened to be spending time together. she could barely make out what he said. Once she noticed the bottle in his hand, however, it became clear why his words were so hard to understand at first.Â
As he got closer, she looked at him a bit curiously as he spoke a bit jumbled. But then she remembered the girl who had been 'talking' to Jasper. Ryan had been having a fight with her online, making the reason for his intoxicated state more evident to Arabella. She quickly put together his sentence fragments and deciphered all he had said to her while he drifted off into personal thought.Â
"I'd say I'm as okay as you are," she nodded. She took a second look at the bottle and remembered his offer. "You know what? I will drink with you." She was determined to avoid Jasper and wanted to forget about the whole thing for a while. Now that she was human again, she figured, why the hell not? She still didn't know how long not being a vampire was supposed to last, so why shouldn't she take advantage of it?

He felt her slip her hand into his and he smiled. He ran his thumb over the back of her soft, smooth hand, trying to think of a way to change her mind. If he was wrong, if this whole âhumanâ thing revoked every vampiric quality except for the inability to live in the sun, then theyâd be dead forever the moment they stepped into the sun. He couldnât stand the thought of her being gone forever, not even if he were gone too. But he knew his Bella. He knew she would keep him safe from the sun until he assured her that he would let her go with him. He tried to give her a reassuring smile though inside he was beyond terrified.
âOkay.â
As they walked hand in hand down the hall toward the stairs, he tried to find some way to keep her safe. He considered breaking his hand free from hers and making a run for it, but he knew sheâd run right after him and possibly run into the sun whether he were dead or not. Once they were finally on the ground floor, the door right ahead, he was panicking. He looked up at her one more time, taking in every single feature of her face. The slope of her nose, and the freckles that dotted it. Her cheeks and the way they now flushed pink with life. And her eyes. They were shining now just as they always did, deep and brown, her eyelashes curled delicately over her eyelids. There was just one thing missing. âWait.â
He stopped her just before the door, ignoring the confused look on her face. âSmile.â His voice was small, but he tried to make it sound like a command. He needed to see her smile one last time in case he didnât make it once he was out there. Slowly, he inched closer to the door, facing his back to it. He hoped she wouldnât notice. He was going to at least put his hand out before she did. He couldnât risk her life, he wouldnât let himself. âI love you. Smile, Bella.â He grinned himself in an attempt to get it out of her, but his heart was beating out of his chest in terror. He turned the doorknob slowly behind his back and kept his other hand on her shoulder, trying to keep her as far away from the entrance as possible.
She silently stood by his side, sternly looking at him awaiting his answer. There was no way that she was going to let him test out how human they were without her. It would kill her inside if any harm had ever come to him. No matter what happened between the two, no matter how bad things got, she always loved him with all her being. It's true that she never liked to admit it out loud, but it was always there. Her feelings for him would never die. Her heart just wouldn't allow it.
As they left her room, fingers intertwined, she slightly tightened her grip on his hand. Questions started flying through her brain. What if this was all just a dream? Or what if it was just some sick joke being played on them? What if they do this and it's the end of them forever? Would it hurt to die? Or would it happen so instantaneously they would get to feel nothing at all?Â
She stopped in her tracks as soon as she heard his voice. She turned her head to look at him. They were so close. Why would they stop now? It hadn't registered to her at first why he would make such a strange request. Smile? But then she noticed it, the hint of fear in his eyes. He too was just as worried about this plan as she was. Just as scared that maybe it was all just a lie. She looked at him, with love in her eyes as she brought her other hand to the side of his face. She stared into his chestnut brown eyes and smiled sweetly at him. "I love you, too," she replied. Leaning in towards him to what may have looked like an on coming kiss to any passerby, she add, "But you're not going out that door without me. You know I'll kick your ass if you try to do so."

Arabella rolled her eyes as she read Jasper's words on her computer screen. She shook her head and closed her laptop. It was typical Jasper. The two of them would be on good terms, so good in fact that Bella would stupidly allow herself to think that maybe, just maybe things would be different this time, and as usual, she just ended up feeling stupid. Ever since the two had strangely become human again, he was nothing other than sweet, caring and loving. She hadn't even caught him looking at another girl. She was now mentally beating herself up for being so foolish. She should have known it was only a matter of time before he ended up proving himself to be the careless manwhore he so often was. The more she let herself think of Jasper and all the times he screwed her over only increased her anger for him.
"I can't stay here."
She pushed her chair away from her desk and walked over to her closet. Grabbing the first sweater she could find, Bella grabbed her room key and headed out the door, making sure to leave her phone behind. The last thing she wanted to do right now was speak to Jasper. She didn't care for what sorry excuse he would come up with this time around. She knew if she let herself listen to him long enough, she would stupidly forgive him, just like every time before. But that wasn't going to happen tonight. She was going to avoid him at all costs. Now all she had to do was figure out where exactly in the school she would hide out before she got too tired from roaming around.

He watched her turn and peer into the mirror. Even when she was confused, she was the prettiest thing heâd ever seen. She didnât seem as happy as he was, though. He couldnât help but smile and move toward her, anyway. âI think, I mean Iâm not too sure. My heartâs beating, I was sweating out there, I bumped into something a minute ago and it hurt. I havenât tried to walk into the sun yet⊠But I think we might be,â he said, coming up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, and resting his cheek on the back of her head. âAnd what if we are? Arenât you happy?â This is the greatest thing thatâs happened to me since⊠since you!â he said. And he meant every word.
He let his arms fall to his sides and took the spot next to her in the mirror. Taking her hand, he looked at her. âWe have to make sure this is real. I donât want to run out into the sun just to find out thatâs the one loophole in whateverâs happening right now, you know? Actually,â he said, thinking. âIâll go find out on my own. Iâll put an arm out or something. You stay inside until Iâm sure, okay?â He saw that she was still a bit apprehensive, so he tried his hardest not to kiss her on the cheek. He gave her a half hearted smile, anyway. âI love you. More than anything, I love you.â
Her eyes switched focus to his reflection as he spoke close to her. Aren't you happy? the words repeated in her head. "I..." She didn't know what to say. Her eyes pulled away from his in the mirror. To be honest, Bella wasn't exactly sure how she felt. She had stopped wishing to be a human decades ago. Why, after all these years, would that long forgotten wish finally come true? Her attention was redirected to Jasper as she unexpectedly felt her heart flutter at his words. No matter how many times she tried to convince herself to let her feelings for him die, her heart always clung to those feelings. It was moments like these that her heart decided to let her in on the secret.
She spun around and looked at him curiously as he rambled on about their current state of being. She began to open her mouth to protest his idea but was quickly stopped when he heard what he said next. I love you. It was then she felt the familiar flutter of her heart once more and unconsciously smiled a little at him. Quickly gathering her thoughts, she shook her head and walked towards him. "No way. I'm not letting you go out there by yourself. If you go, we go together," she stated firmly as she slipped her hand into his. "And I don't wanna hear any arguments from you because I will make sure you don't without me, Jasper Adonis."

He was practically jumping from one foot to the other where he stood, he was so anxious. It felt like he was out the for an eternity. Finally, after a million years, the knob turned and the door opened slowly â too slowly. He almost pushed it open all the way himself. But the second he saw even a hint of her silhouette; the soft curls of her dark brown hair â regardless of how messy it mightâve been; her petite frame in the doorway, his heart stopped yet again. But this time, it was out of happiness and relief. She stood before him, her cheeks flushed and her hair wild from a full nightâs sleep. She had yet to rub the sleep from her eyes. She was the most beautiful thing heâd ever seen in his 70 years of existence. It was like he was seeing her for the first time all over again.
Alright alright! Iâm here. What do you want? Ignoring the annoyed tone of her voice, he ran to her. He wrapped his arms around her now warm and soft body and held her tight against his now beating heart. For the first time in decades, tears of happiness welled up in his eyes. âBella,â he sighed lovingly. âGod⊠God, I thought you were gone.â He wrapped his arms tighter around her and buried his face in her hair. âI love you, I do. I love you so much.â He could feel her heart beating in her chest as well and he couldnât help but laugh again. Then he looked at her, holding her at an armâs length as he did so. âYouâre beautiful,â he said, beaming. âYouâre the most beautiful thing Iâve ever seen.â Her face was full of color and life for the first time since heâd met her.Â
Arabella looked at Jasper skeptically. He hadnât spoken to her in such a way in years. Last she could remember, he had been upset with her for some reason. She could barely even recognize the man standing before her. âWhat the hell are you talking about? Are you feeling okay?â she asked confused, pulling away from him a bit to look at his face. She looked into his eyes, noticing the normal color of brown within them. âJasâŠwhat happened to your eyes?...and your skin?â She instinctively raised her hand to his face and caressed it lightly, taking note of the sudden warmth of it. âWhy arenât you cold?â She questioned, ignoring all of his sweet confessions. Then she saw her own hand.
She pulled it away from his face and studied it. Her complexion was normal as well. âWhat happened to my skin?...â She then pulled away from his arms and walked over to her mirror. Her eyes too were a normal brown. Their original brown. âWhat is thisâŠ?â she whispered aloud. She turned to Jasper. âAre weâŠare we human?â

âUgh.â
Jasper tossed himself over on his bed, the bed rarely used for sleep. What time was it? Too early for him. He stuffed his face into his pillow again and took a deep breath. He had no idea what or who had woken him up, but whoever it was would be in a world of pain in a few minutes.
Wait.
His head popped up from the ocean of blankets and pillows, an eyebrow raised in question. He had been asleep just a few moments ago. He threw the covers off of his body and sat up, noticing that he hadnât bothered to change out of his clothes the night prior. Which was only logical, because he wasnât expecting to fall asleep, not since he was turned years ago. âWhat the fuckâŠâ he mumbled to himself, looking about his room.
And then he felt it. The rhythmic cadence that pulsed in the center of his left rib cage. The slow, steady beat that pounded lightly through every vein in his body. The hushed âth-thumpâ that actually said, âYouâre alive, Jasper,â with every flutter. His heart was beating and he could hear it, feel its pulse in his wrist and his throat. He was alive, literally, for the first time in years. And he had no idea why.
Had it been a dream? One didnât awaken on any random morning to find that they just werenât dead anymore; it didnât work that way. He knew so, he knew because heâd lost all hope of it ever happening again shortly after his fate was sealed. It only made sense to assume that heâd been asleep for years and that his life in the years prior to this awakening had been but a dream. But if it hadnât been real, thenâŠ
âBella,â he said aloud. He plummeted from his bunk with an uncoordinated leap, knocking over several of his own possessions in the process. âOw, ow. Fuck,â he grumbled. That actually hurt. Holy crap, this is real, he thought to himself. The room that enclosed him was no different than the one heâd spent his days in. He was at Campbell, that much was true. But what was happening to him? He continued with his quest, ignoring the throbbing pain in his leg. He sprinted out of his door and straight down the hall, bounding down the stairs. He was running, really running again â he had no help from the superhuman agility and speed this time. A small smile formed on his face at the feel of it.
He all but fell down the steps as he tried to get to Bellaâs room. She was just a floor below him, but he couldnât help but rush anyway. He had to make sure she was real, that she hadnât been just a part of his vampiric dream. He was sure she was; he was at Campbell Academy, after all, and if that much had been genuine in existence, then she had to be as well. But his heart hurt at the thought of it. He imagined himself finally getting to her room, rapping on the door desparately, and getting no answer. He imagined someone else opening the door, someone no where near as beautiful or fascinating as his Bella, and telling him that no one by the name of âArabella Kennedyâ had ever been there. He could feel the whole world crashing around where he stood. He needed to get to her now. There was no point in living unless she was around. He wouldnât even want to go out into the sun for the first time in what seemed like an eternity, knowing he wouldnât burst into flames as soon as its rays hit him â because it wouldnât exist if Bella didnât.
When he finally made it to her room, the first thing he did was try to turn the knob. He didnât even bother knocking; there was no time. He didnât want to break her door down again, either. Heâd done that three times since sheâd come to Campbell, and each time was out of anger and rage. He wasnât mad this time, but he was beside himself in worry. When it wouldnât budge, he knocked fervently. âBella? Bella, open up. Itâs me. Itâs Jasper. Open up!â His heart was beating rapidly in his chest, and beads of sweat were already materializing on his forehead. He was panting, gasping for breath between his yells. He didnât care if anyone else heard him at this point. He didnât care that he was still angry with her, or that she probably still hated him. None of that mattered now. All that mattered was that she was real, she was tangible, and that heâd be able to hold her in his arms as soon as she let him into the room.
Warmth. Arabella could feel it all over her skin. The sun was shining bright up in the sky above her and all she could do was smile as she looked up at the sunâs rays beaming down on her. She always marveled at how beautiful it truly was. How vividly she could remember it. But this time? This time something was different. It all felt soâŠso real. Before she could put any more thought to it, Bella began to hear a loud bang at her door. She struggled to open her eyes just as she recognized who the frantic voice belonged to. Jasper?
She pushed her hair back and groggily stumbled out of bed to open the door for him. She rubbed her eyes as she looked at the boy through squinted eyes. âAlright alright! Iâm here. What do you want?â she asked, a bit irritated. But why was she so irritated? The two of them always had their disputes, and he didnât bother breaking down her door this time, which was a plus. She hated having to always fix it every time he was angry with her and decided to pay her a visit n her room. But no, this was a different kind of irritated, like a why-did-you-just-wake-me-up kind of irritated. However, that wouldnât make any sense. Bella hadnât slept in decades, at least not slept for real. Vampiric slumber was different. Itâs like you were dead, and when you awoke, you didnât feel rested or anything a human would feel afterwards. So why was she feeling this way at all?
When her eyes adjusted to her surroundings, she noticed something. Her room had been unusually bright for that time of night. Only thing was, it wasnât night at all. It was day. How can I be up right now..? She looked down at the floor, noticing the light seeping through the window and resting on her foot. This isnât possibleâŠI should feel burning right now⊠She looked up at Jasper even more confused than before. âWhat is this?âÂ
The day has come where i have died, only to find iâve come alive.
Two Vampires Walk into a Class... | Bella
Jasper looked back toward the front of the class smiling. âI think you should be. You could probably teach the class more than the teacher up there could.â It wasnât really fair for Jasper to judge the teacher that way, seeing as the class hadnât even started yet and Professor Whatever-His-Name-Is had yet to speak â but then again, Jasper barely ever did anything fair. âDo you think you grew up with Teach up there? He looks about your age.â He tried to keep a straight face this time when he looked back at her, hoping sheâd laugh. He was relieved to see heâd gotten a smile out of her when he first came up to talk to her.
He took a look around the classroom, surveying the other students there. Naturally, he judged them all. It was just something he was used to doing when he got into a room full of people; it was kind of a habit, heâd picked it up way back in middle school when he himself was still human. It was one of the many things from his past life that carried on with him into his immortal one. The only difference now was that heâd be able to judge them quicker, and more efficiently, since his senses were even better now than they were before. His eyes flashed around the room. Somehow, this time around, there wasnât a girl in the room who held his interest, not one. Usually, heâd be able to find someone heâd want to go up and talk to, and there were a bunch of pretty girls there, he had to admit. But he didnât feel it. And when he looked back around at who he was sitting right next to, he knew why. He swore sometimes Bella turned him into a huge softie. Heâd probably have to go out and bully someone to compensate for how decent of a person he was because he was next to her.
The kid who Jasper assumed had the âassignedâ seat next to Bella came up and stood next to his desk, looking confused. âYou need something?â Jasper asked, indifferent. He didnât want to move, mostly because he wanted to sit next to Bella, but also because he was way too lazy to. Who was that guy to tell him where to go anyway? When the other kid started talking, Jasper put his hand up as though his hand were a puppet mimicking what the guy was saying, not looking at the kid. Blah blah blah. He kept doing so until the other guy walked away.
She wanted to laugh yet again, but she managed to eep her straightest face on as she sarcastically commented back. "Oh, yeah. Since we were in diapers," she nodded, taking note of the teacher's appearance. "We even used to braid each other's hair, and play with Barbies," she added, looking over at Jasper with a false sense of nostalgia for her made up memories with the teacher.
Her line of focus switched to the boy now standing next to Jasper. Bella quietly watched as Jasper was nothing but rude to the boy. This time, she let out a small laugh. She couldn't help it. The way thing were right now, sitting next to each other, talking, seeing Jasper poke fun at the kid and not give a shit bout it, Â it all felt just like old times. She missed this.
"Same old Jasper," she commented with a smile as she turned her attention to the now speaking teacher in front.Â

Eric was the first to arrive to class. When he first arrived no one was there, not even the teacher.âHow absurd,â he mutter under his breath. He had never had one of his teachers be late. It wasnât until ten minutes later the teacher and his fellow classmates decided to show up. Wonderful.
He shifted in his chair, starting to feel antsy and out placed. All Eric wanted to do was get out of this class, out of this school. However he wouldnât. He was waiting for his mystery girl to show up.Â
Bella ran through the halls as fast she could, trying her hardest not to bump into anyone and quickly apologizing whenever she did. She had been so good recently about getting to all of her classes on time. What made today so different, she had no idea. She mentally beat herself up for being late.
"Shit!" she whispered as she peered through the small window of the door, not finding one empty seat in the room, until her eyes landed on a blond boy sitting next to no one. She stealthly slipped into the room and whispered to the boy. "This seat isn't taken right? 'Cause I'm really not looking forward to having to sit on the floor or stand in the back of the room for like an hour."
History | Bella
He didnât really feel the need to stomp around in rage anymore; since the party, Jasper had let his anger out in a number of ways. Breaking Bellaâs door was one, verbally abusing a bunch of the other students was another. The whole situation was wearing away in his mind â even the thought of it ceased to bother him now. He wasnât even as bothered with Bella being around as he let on in her room all those nights ago. He wouldnât lie and say it didnât upset him at first, because it did. But now⊠What else could he do, really?
Jasper cared very little for the release of class schedule. He didnât care for school, not anymore anyway. The only reason he tried so hard while he was alive was because he had to keep his grades above average if he wanted to stay on the football team. He really hoped that Campbell wouldnât operate the same way, otherwise heâd actually have to make an effort to make it to his classes. The first few went by easy enough, but it was in History that he got a bit of a surprise. Sitting in one of the seats was Bella, punctual and as pretty as ever. No anger carried on from the last time theyâd seen each other. He was over that now. Sure, it took almost a week for him to stop being angry about it, but that wasnât the point. The poit was that he was okay now and he was ready to make up â just like it used to be. Heâd fuck up and get angry, or sheâd get angry, and theyâd leave each other alone until he was ready to make up again. Or until she gave into his persistence. But heâd never apologize. That had only happened once, and it didnât work.
He walked on over to the empty seat next to hers, ignoring the fact that there may have been assigned seats in the class. He put his arm up over the back of her chair, making sure not to touch her â not yet anyway â and he looked at her. âHey.â A sly grin sauntered across his face. âYou have this class? Werenât you there for half of the stuff weâre covering anyway?â he teased, chuckling.
Arabella had spent most of her day with her paper schedule glued to her hands as she constantly looked from it to the signs above the doors holding the numbers of each room. She sighed to herself as she navigated herself to her next class. She really didn't understand what was the point of her attending classes anyways. She had been stuck at the physical age of eighteen for years now, but there wasn't much she could do about that if she wanted to continued to be a part of Campbell. Once she reached the room for history, she peeked through the mini window of the door and taking note of all the faces inside.Â
Not there either...
She had been a bit surprised she and Jasper still hadn't crossed paths yet. She knew the school was rather large, but still, she hoped figured it would've happened at least once by now. She knew the two of them hadn't been on good terms in a while, but she always thought of him now and then. He had meant too much her for her to ever forget about him. After all, she did love him once upon a time and probably always would.
She opened the door and took a seat by the window. It amazed her how she could walk about the school in the daytime and not be harmed by the sun's rays through the windowpane. Being deprived of the morning light for so long, she had forgotten how beautiful the blue sky truly was. So much in fact, she had barely noticed who had now been sitting next to her, until she heard his voice. She instinctively turned her head to face him.
"Hey," she smiled a little. She had missed that smile of his. She was happy to see he had calmed down since their last encounter. Even though time apart always helped them to gather their thoughts and be able to make up later, after how they left things over a year ago, a part of her didn't believe he could recover so quickly. She tried her hardest not to show her amusement, but a smile unwillingly slipped through. "If that were the case, don't you think I'd be the teacher?"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
You all bore me.
Iâm in need of some entertainment. Whenâs the last time anyone was eaten alive here?
So what's a vamp to do around here while waiting for the sun to go down?
You could go jump into a pit of fire and snakes. Seems fun, doesnât it? For you, anyway.
Oh, you always knew how to say the sweetest things to me.
