He studies Leon’s face on the screen, catching the grit in his smile that he’d missed on the ice. Something bubbling under the surface that lets Matthew know he hadn’t entirely been brushed off.

He’d gotten a reaction, that was for sure, just not the one that he wanted.

Matthew finds himself wanting more from Leon than their secret, twice a year scenes, and he goes about getting it in all the wrong ways. There might be a happy ending on the horizon for him, but only if the two of them can find a way to navigate the years of losses, animosity, and team rivalries.
